Chapter 1: Introduction

It's hard when you realize your life can not always be perfect. When you realize the people who always swore to protect you can not protect you anymore. When you rely on a miracle to see the light of day.

For me it was when I realize my parents the people I always counted on when the going gets rough could no longer protect their own little angel.

My mother and father are important members of the pack. They are both Betas. It's quite unusual for a women to become a Beta but my mother always proved otherwise. A strong woman and I always look up to her, hope to be like her one day. They always protected me and would do anything to keep me safe. Though I learned the hard way that my parents won't always be there for me.

I growled when I felt someone's hand shaking me roughly cutting me off from my peaceful sleep.

"Wake up Kiara! You're going to be late for practice!" The voice demanded above my head.

" Nooo!!" I cried lifting back my blanket.

" Yes!!" My mother mocked me stripping the blanket away. " Now go clean up and meet me downstairs for breakfast." She ordered leaving the room. I forced my half wake body out of bed and went to the shower.

I found my mother downstairs already serving breakfast. My father already digging into the delicious meal mother has prepared for us.

" Smells nice in here." I complimented taking on the extra ordinary smell of fresh muffins and hot chocolate.

"The taste is even better than the smell." My father stuffed a muffin in his mouth and I couldn't help but laugh.

" Judging by the way you throwing the food down there's no doubt about that." I said sliding into my sit and filling up my plate.

" So tomorrow is your birthday?" My father confirmed as he gulped down the hot chocolate.

"Yes and I can't wait!" A huge smile took over my face.

" You mean you can't wait to find your mate?" Mother snickered as she too joined us to eat.

"Mom?" I cried. " Plus there's nothing wrong with being excited for your mate. If it's as good as they say then I'm definitely interested in finding out." I told her.

" Finding your mate? That's the best thing that could ever happen to you. It's the best feeling in the world." Said father.

" So dad how was it like when you found mom?" I asked curious.

" It was magical. I felt this strong connection towards her. Like I've found the missing piece in my life. I have found the key to happiness." Father smiled as if reminiscing back to the past.

" When you find your mate you will never want to let go. You'll forever want to be with them." My mother added. I indeed couldn't wait to find my mate. Someone to make me feel complete. Someone I can be with forever.

I ate my food wondering who my mate was. What kind of person they are like. I couldn't wait to find out.

When I was done I rushed to training. I found people already there waiting. I threw my bag in the locker and went to wait with everyone.

"Hey Kiara." One of the girls approached me.

" Amanda…How are you?" I forced out a smile as she stood right there in front of me.

"You look good today." She complimented. I didn't really care what she had to say. Amanda is our typical 'mean girl'. Beautiful with straight white hair, her excessively pale skin with forest green eyes but annoying as much. Me and her we never really got along. Mostly because her boyfriend cheated on her with me. It's not like a knew he was her boyfriend but it's not like I really cared either. Since then she's accused me of being a 'boyfriend thief' and she always craved to make my life a living hell. She never really got the chance though especially with my parents being the Betas of the pack. Messing with them is the last thing she could ever do. Well other than the fact that I was physically stronger than her.

"Thank you. You don't look bad yourself." I responded.

" Ohh thank you." She smiled. " So I heard tomorrow is your birthday. Meaning you'll be able to find your mate." She said as though she even cared about it at all.

"Yes." I nodded.

"So you still have no wolf huh? What if they reject you?" She faked worry.

" Because I have no wolf?" I raised an eyebrow at her.

" Yes. Well I don't think there's someone who wants a mate that has no wolf." She says. I guess she loves to just throw away my happiness. It's like she'd use any chance she gets just to ruin my day.

" From what I know your mate is supposed to love you no matter what. So it makes no sense to reject a person because she has no wolf. My wolf will come eventually." I told her. Though she got me thinking. I was the only girl in the pack with no wolf. And I've seen people get rejected by their mates for stupid reasons. Just thinking of the possibilities made my stomach drop. I don't think I could bear the pain of being rejected. They say rejection ways you down emotionally and mentally. I don't wanna be sad all my life.

"People get rejected Kiara and it won't be a surprise if your mate rejects you. Don't worry though if your mate rejects you I'm sure the Moon Goddess will gift you with another mate." I could clearly see the happiness that was building inside of her. Getting rejected would feel like a pay back for all those years she wanted to get even with me.

" ENOUGH TALKING!!" The Alpha suddenly appeared in the training field. He had my dad with him. Well he was one of the trainers since he's a very skilled fighter. Even trained the best warriors in the pack.

We were soon paired with our partners. Well I might have been wolf less but I was still a good fighter. Faster and I was quick to think better than any of them. Maybe it's because my parents started training me when I was five. When other kids went playing in the playground I was in my back yard learning how to beat the shit out of the dummies my mother created for me. I'm pretty sure those dummies hate me to this day. I never really went easy on them.

After training I went to the day-care, that's where I keep myself busy for the day. Mostly because I just love being around children. Or maybe I'm paying off the days I never really had as a kid.
