Chapter 3:

After training I took my bag and changed my wet clothes to some dry jeans and top. I met Mia already waiting for me outside.

" Are you going to the day care?" She asked as I approached her.

" Of cause. I atleast need to see the little ones." I said to her.

" Well fine." She groaned as she lead us to the street.

"Don't act you don't like the little pups." I nudged her.

" That's because you force me…and I end up… having a good time eventually." She chuckled and I joined her.

" Well duh…why wouldn't you have a good time. They're amazing." I exclaimed as we both walked down the street.

"Agreed until they start crying. It can be super irritating." She cringed at the thought.

" Whatever. They are just kids." I reminded her.

It was not too long until we reached the day care. Every time I'm in their presence there's just this wave of positive energy enough to throw me off my tracks. They are just so free with big dreams and they don't even have to worry about life yet. They're just happy to see the sunrise, see their friends again and have a good time. Is it a bad thing if sometimes I just wish I was a kid again? So I can be as free as them without any stress of life. What's next and worrying about the future.

"Kiara? I didn't expect to see you today." Mrs Meyer's their teacher stopped at her tracks as she noticed my arrival.

" But why? I work here remember?" I reminded her as I took a few steps in.

" I know. But isn't it your birthday today? I thought you would be somewhere celebrating." She said still amazed.

" See exactly what I was telling her." Mia commented.

" Calm down you guys. There's nothing wrong with wanting to have fun with my favorite people in the world. WHAT DO YOU SAY GUYS!!" At my words the pups screamed back " YEAH!!".

" And I thought I was your favorite people." Mia groaned besides me.

" You are my favorite old people and these are my favorite young people." I told her.

" Ohh geez I'm not that old… please don't say it like that." She quickly defended herself and I laughed.

"  Well it's already story time. Maybe some of you want to read some stories for Kiara on her birthday." Mrs Meyer's suggested and the little ones eagerly agreed with her.

" Well this is gonna be fun.." I elbowed Mia who looks a little bored. Well it wasn't long until she gained a little interest when they start reading some stories.

It was like the most beautiful thing ever. It feels special to see them actually enjoying their reading. Reminds me of how I always feel when I'm reading for them.

" Ohh I like this one." Mia commented as the young girl read her story. She was a such good reader for a young girl and with all that confidence.

"I knew you were gonna like it." I reminded her with a tiny laugh.

The time went by as usual. It's really hard to notice time with that entertainment. If by me, I would watch the whole thing all day long.

After helping the children with lunch me and Mia finally left the day care.

"That was fun wasn't it?" I was all smiles as we officially left the premises.

" I have to give it to you. Kids really are amazing." She complimented. "Though the real fun is to come tonight." She reminded me though leading me a little blindfolded.

" Tonight?" I asked not even trying to hide the shock that showered my face.

" Yeah. Party remember?" She slightly slapped the back of my head in attempt to rattle my forgetful mind. " But most importantly, you're going to finally find your mate." She reminded me and my face visibly shrinked that she immediately noticed my dissatisfaction. " Is everything okay?" She turned to me concerned.

" Yeah everything is fine. I'm just trying to imagine what kind of a wolf my mate would be like." I told her. Trying to not worry about the thought of getting rejected. I just don't know why it worries me so much. Is this how everyone feel when they have to find their mates?

" Kiara it's okay to be a bit nervous. It's your big day after all, anyone would get nervous. Just remember I'm here for you." She squeezed my shoulder giving me a hopeful smile. Me telling myself that maybe I just have to forget about this mate thing for a second. " And I'm sure Moon Goddess chose a great mate for you." She assured. Her words striking a little bit of assurance but doubt made it's self heard. I just couldn't get rid of this terrible gut feeling on my stomach.

"Thank you Mia. You really are the best." I forced to smile beyond the worry. She smiled back. I knew she could see something was still bugging me but she decided to throw it aside and so did I.

"Well can we move a little faster now? I'm sure your mother is already done with the baking and we still have to prepare for the party." She hurried us down to my house. Just a few blocks and we were already on my street.

" I just can't wait to taste that cake." All the cake memories come flooding through my mind.

" Second that. Mrs Sky should be a chef." She said.

" And quit her job being the Beta? It's like fighting an impossible war. Mother loves her Beta job more than anything and she worked so hard to gain that spot." I said to her.

" A woman Beta? Your mother is an inspiration for young woman. She's such a tough woman and yet very kind at the same time. It's very hard to find both qualities in one place, they literally repel each other."

" Tell me about it."

" The great thing is you're next on the line." She said to me.

" Me? Pfft. How can I be strong as my mother? She got her wolf at 10 years and I'm almost twenty soon which is twice her age. That women was born to be strong." I reminded her. I still can't believe that my mother shifted at ten. Usually the earliest shift is around 13 and the latest is 16 which I have already exceeded by now.

" See how ever you like. Me I see 10 multiply by 2, 20 times better. And the fact you're strong even with out your wolf, just imagine when she finally comes. You'll be unstoppable." Said Mia.

" Thanks for the hope. But I can never be the women my mother is." I said.

" But you can only be better." She said. " I believe in you. I've seen what you can do." We both walked into my house and we were immediately greeted by the wondrous smell.

"Enough about what I can do… Can you smell what she's done? Smells heavenly." My senses went wild as we stepped closer and closer into the house.

*

"I don't think I ever wanna go home again. I'm staying here from now on."

" Agreed." In Mia's mind her wolf Stella agreed going crazy over the amazing smell of food. " Hurry and get in. I'm getting impatient." She added.

" Calm down Stella. Let's not embarrass our selves now." She followed Kiara inside the house.

As they walk in the food was already laid out in the table. All kinds of food and Mia wanted to try each an every one of them.
