Chapter 4:

I just walked into my house to find a buffet of food already waiting for me. My mother really went all out today.

"Mom what is this?" I was astounded as I spotted the full table.

" Jeez it's your birthday. What I can't spoil my little angel now?" She raised an eyebrow and a laugh just escaped my mouth indicating shock.

"There you guys are." Mia's mother appeared in the kitchen followed by Mrs () the goddamn Luna of the pack.

"Uhmm okay? Ehh… What's going on now?" I look between the three of them dumbfounded.

" Can't you see? Your mother invited them for your birthday silly." My father put his arms around me.

" Wow. Uhhh…" Are the few words that managed to escape my mouth.

" Don't act all amazed. I always do this for your birthday." My mother reminded me. Correct. She always does. Though I was still not used by the fact the Luna was attending my birthdays. She's the Luna I'm quite sure she must have better things to do than celebrating some silly birthdays. I know her and mom are really close but it's really hard to get used to it when she's the Luna. Well I get all the respect she has for my mother when my mother is the woman that actually trained her. The three of them were the perfect combo in the battle field.

" Well this is amazing. Thank you…all of you." I finally calmed myself to say that.

"Ohh it was nothing. You should thank your mother here. She's the mastermind behind it all." Mia's mother commented.

" This is a beautiful moment and all… But right now I'm really hungry." The Luna commented making us all jostle.

"Well we do not want to kill the Luna with hunger. Let's all start eating." My mother responded with a little chuckle.

" Agreed." Said Mia not hesitating to take a sit.

We all eventually sat down on the table filling our plates with food. The food tasting amazing as always. I agree my mother should definitely be a chef.

"So are you ready to find your mate Kiara?" The Luna finally came to ask. I was quickly wondering if everything is going to bring up the mate thing today? Well so much for forgetting about it.

" Well they say Its the best thing to find your mate. I guess I'm excited for that." I responded.

" You should. I mean it's amazing. I mean the day I found my mate. Especially knowing that I was going to be the Luna." The Luna told me.

" That must have been really amazing." I smiled at her.

" Your mother here really did a great job raising you. I don't see my self ever raising such a beautiful and strong girl like you." She softly rubbed my mother's back with a big smile.

"But you also did a great job raising Ash. He's the next Alpha to be." Said my mother.

" Ohh I try. Though I think his father is really being hard on him." She said.

" Alpha Matthew just wants what's best for him. Most importantly he's molding him to be a great leader like him." My father responded.

" Well I'm very aware of that. But children also need to be freed a little. You can't always put the child on the leash." The Luna responded.

" Ash... he hasn't found his mate, has he?" A concerned Mrs Sky asks.

" Not yet. But I'm sure who ever it is, she's a great woman. Though he's quite fond of Amanda. And Amanda is such a strong woman I'm sure they would make a great match." The Luna responded bluntly. Her words shocking everyone in the room. Didn't she know what kind of girl Amanda is? She's only doing it for her own benefit and I literally wouldn't be surprised if she didn't even like Ash.

I try so hard resisting the temptation to roll my eyes. I didn't want to make a bad impression in front of the Luna and better yet disrespect her.

How to possibly tell the Luna she was claiming the impossible?

I mean Ash is an asshole too but the equation is still not adding up.

"Great." Mia mumbled between her teeth. The whole conversation followed by silence and the clashing of forks, knives plates and teeth.

"Well how about I bring out the cake." My mother awkwardly broke the awkward silence.

"Brilliant. I'll help you." Mia's mother said disappearing to the kitchen.

" Let me help with the dishes." My father starts clearing the table.

" Looks like you gonna need a hand." Mia ditched me as she followed everyone else to the kitchen. Uncomfortable moment. It's just me and the Luna. What do I say to her? Nothing, I'm afraid I might say something stupid. I don't want to embarrass myself In front of the Luna. Couldn't make an excuse to leave. Wouldn't she say we are all ditching her?

Just sit there and smile awkwardly. That's the only plan filling my mind.

"So you still don't have your wolf huh?" She asked. I should have made an excuse earlier. This is an awkward question, especially being asked by the Luna. I'm definitely sure she thinks I'm an embarrassment and weak.

"Yeah. But my mother believe she's gonna come anytime soon." I wished she couldn't see the forced smile.

" No need to be uncomfortable. I'm just curious. I've never seen someone go so long without their wolf. You're strong and all but it's quite concerning since your parents are the Betas." She said. Of cause she noticed the smile. I flash down too embarrassed to meet her face. Yes it's quite concerning the daughter of the Betas. Father Beta, mother Beta and yet still struggling to shift.

If my family wasn't so high up I would be a laughing stock. I bet I am, it's that people are too afraid to show.

" I-I'm sorry. I hope I'm not embarrassing you… the pack. " A faint voice made it's self heard filled with nervousness.

"Of cause not. Why would I be embarrassed with the wolf less daughter of two Betas? You're still strong after all, even without your wolf." She said. I felt like she was mocking me. With a smile on her face.

"Cake's here." I guess my mother saw my expression and decided to save me.

"This looks amazing." The Luna complimented. The cake really did look amazing. Big and the smell of it was enough to make you drool. Everyone else came holding a few plates. Dad with a bottle of wine and glasses. Me trying to forget the awkward conversation with the Luna.

"I'm old enough to drink wine now?" I chuckled staring at my dad.

" Doesn't mean you should be a drunkered." My dad responded.

" Mia is not old enough." Her mother commented.

" Jeez I'm almost as old as Kiara. Just two months left." Mia protested.

" I think everyone can drink wine today." Said my father.

" Kiara you should make a wish." My mother reminded me lighting up the candles. I stood up standing besides the cake. I bend down with my eyes closed thinking of a good wish.

' I wish to find a mate that will accept and love me forever.' with a deep breath I let it find it's self to burning candles.

"Woohoo! Happy birthday Kiara!" Mia screamed the moment the candles went off. And I felt my mother's hands wrapped around me.

"Happy birthday baby girl." She whispered. Wishing I could forever be in her embrace. I felt a wave of cold her as she lets go. My mother is really my comfort zone.

"Well can we eat now?" Mia growled.

"Yes mam." I proceeded to cut the cake. Handing them out as my father helped pouring the wine.

We sat down enjoying the mouth watering cake washing down with the wine. I took a gulp halfway through my glass to find my father sternly staring at me.

" This tastes really weird." I shoot him a smile to throw him off, well he immediately got the idea that it's not my first time drinking wine. Well now at least me and Mia we didn't have to drink in the shadows anymore.

"Does it?" My father raised an eyebrow and I just blushed shying away from his question. My mother noticing that she just laughed. Well it was not a secret to her that we drank. She would even slip us a few in special occasions.

" Honey please leave the child alone." My mother defended.

The celebration quickly cut short.

' We need your assistance at the borders. There's a rogue attack and we could use a hand. Now be here as quickly as you can' The four of them are disturbed by a mind link from Alpha Matthew. They look at each other stunned before sprinting to their feet.

"Mom is everything okay?" Mia asked shocked.

" Yes everything will be fine. There's something we need to take care of quickly." She said in a rush.

" Mia keep an eye on Kiara and Kiara keep an eye on your friend." Kiara's father ordered already by the door.

" Everything will be fine. You have nothing to worry about." Mrs Sky looked between the two confused girl seeing the concern in their eyes. She knew telling them about the rogue attack would scare them even more. She just wanted her daughter to enjoy her birthday.

" Kamila we gotta go the Alpha needs us." Mrs Sky's wolf reminded." I just don't want them to worry." She responded. " Enjoy your birthday Kiara." She also rushed towards the door following the others.

"What just happened?" The two girls look at each other astounded.
