LOGINLaura's POV.
For a split second, after my palm connected with Chad's face. People stared at me in awe, like no one trusted what they had just seen.
The old Laura would have apologized by now. She would have cried. She would have begged him to understand. She would have folded herself into something small and forgivable. But I didn't.
Chad looked at me with a stunned expression. His cheeks were already turning red.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” he snapped at me. I stepped closer to him.
“Never,” I said. “Never in your life speak to me with that kind of disrespect again.”
Someone gasped at my warning. I didn't look to see who.
“You don't own me. You don't get to humiliate me and then act like I should be grateful. Move on chad. There is nothing between us, she was the one who forced herself on me, right? That's what you said?”
The words felt unreal coming out of my mouth. Like I was borrowing someone else's courage.
“Laura, you are drunk. Don't embarrass yourself.” he said and I laughed out loud. I actually laughed at the damage control he was trying to play at me.
“I just got into the party. So how can I possibly be drunk? You are the one embarrassing yourself.” I replied and before he could even think of the words that he was going to use to respond to me, clapping echoed behind me.
I turned and saw Zara walking towards us. Her eyes were widened with shock and something like pride. She clapped again, shaking her head.
“Wow.” she said. “This is my best friend.”
Zara slipped her hand inside of mine, pulling me into a hug. “I’m so proud of you. Do you know how I have waited years for this version of you?”
“I don't even know who that was.” I whispered and she smiled at me, pulling our bodies away from each other.
“I do know. That was finally Laura choosing herself. Anyways let's go enjoy the party. You have done enough damage to him that it will take him years for him to be able to recover from tonight.” she replied, and just like that, we walked away.
The rest of the night turned into light and sounds and bodies moving too closely to each other. We danced like we didn't care who was watching, until my feet hurt and my throat burned from laughing.
I drank too much. I didn't think at all. For once, heartbreak didn't feel like drowning. It felt like freedom. Every time my mind tried to shift back to Chad, I pushed it away with another shot of alcohol, another spin, and another beat.
We moved as one. Zara and I were jumping to songs we loved and pretending we didn't notice the looks thrown our way. People watched me differently now. Not with pity. But with curiosity. With something close to respect.
I felt lighter, like I had shed a skin I had been suffocating inside for years. At some point, Zara pressed a glass of alcohol into my hand and yelled over the music. “To new beginnings!”
I clinked my glass against hers. “To not settling.” I said and Zara laughed.
“To Laura finally snapping.” she said and I smiled at her. The old Laura would have flinched at it. But this one owned it.
We left the graduation party when it was almost close to dawn. Our heels were in our hands, our makeup was smudged, our voices were almost gone from singing along to songs that we barely knew.
Zara's place was closer, so we crashed there, collapsing onto the couches and floor like we had survived something together.
Sleep didn't come easily to me. My body was tired but my mind was still turning around in circles. I kept replaying the slap, and the sound of it, the look on Chad's face. And I didn't even know when I dozed off.
I woke up on the couch with my head spinning and my mouth dry. My body felt heavy, but I had a lot on my mind.
I needed to drink water immediately. I slipped out of the couch quietly and stumbled downstairs, following the faint light from the kitchen.
When I reached the doorway, I stopped when I noticed a figure. He stood tall with confidence. His broad shoulders filled the space like he belonged there. His chest rose and fell steadily with each breath revealing the hard lines of his abs.
He was so hot looking. Unfairly hot. He was hotter than Chad and hotter than any man I had ever wanted.
“Gosh” I bit my lower lips. Not up to twenty four hours since my ex- boyfriend broke up with me in the most messy way you can think of and right there was his karma. Six feet Five of temptation standing in front of me, like a personal apology from the universe.
He finally turned and our eyes met. His blue eyes were unreadable but intense enough to make my knees weak as my drunk brain struggled to process him as a real person. He looked like a total doll.
“Who..” he dragged the word, eyeing me from head to toe “are you?” His voice was deep, in his hand was a glass of water, a droplet dripping down his finger. For a moment, it felt like I was in a damn movie scene.
“Your submissive- the word slipped out of my mouth. I didn’t want to believe that I was flirting already- with a stranger I knew nothing about. I was supposed to be worried, he could be a thief, a kidnapper but I wasn’t bothered.
Instead, all I could think was how badly I wanted to touch him. Maybe it was the alcohol or the heartbreak, or probably the fact that I was done being careful.
“Wait-what?!- his eyes widened. Probably wondering what kind of a syco I was but who cares.
I locked my eyes on him as I carefully closed the gap between us. My hand now on his broad shoulders, tickling my way around his abs.
“What do you think you are doing?”- he grabbed my hand, staring into my eyes.
“I want you to fuck me” I said in a very seductive voice, gently close my eyes and bit my lips.
“This is sick” he said, letting my hand off.
“Yes, I am. And only Your dick can make me whole” I didn’t give any more room for discussion when I grabbed his dick.
No man can escape a grip of a lady on their dick, not when you grabbed it firmly squeezing it like your life depended on it.
“Fuck- he grabbed my neck. “Nobody wakes the little monster without being punished” his eyes were dark, his voice were deep as he slammed me to the wall.
“I like being punished. Punish me till I lose my voice to pleading for mercy”
Laura's POV.My phone brought in notifications immediately after I entered my apartment. I already left Lucas.I already knew who it was before checking. First it was the son and now it was the father who wouldn't let me live my life in peace.I almost ignored his message. But something about that man felt dangerous enough not to ignore so I opened the message.“Whether you like it or not, you are going to work for Lucas Harrison. Just quit being stubborn because the real game begins now.”I reread the message twice before deleting it completely.“I’m not your puppet,” I muttered under my breath. Then I threw my phone onto the couch angrily and pressed my palms against my face.Everything felt exhausting for my body to be able to take in anymore. Victor was pulling me from one side, Lucas pulling me from another side. And here I was standing in the middle carrying a secret big enough to destroy everybody. I looked down at my stomach slowly. My babies. The only good thing in my messy l
Laura's POV.I pushed the glass door open angrily and stepped out of the private restaurant. My chest was burning with anger, who literally gave Victor Morgan the guts to think that he can negotiate with me?Obviously, the question was supposed to be directed at me because I was the one who gave him the guts to ever think like that. I was foolish at first but I wasn't foolish anymore. He was just completely insane. I wrapped my arms around myself tightly as I walked toward the roadside.I hated this entire situation alongside the two men that have vowed to make my life a living hell.A car suddenly stopped beside me. I stopped walking instantly as the tinted window rolled down slowly, and my heart nearly stopped beating when my eyes landed on Lucas.“Get in,” he said. I couldn't help rolling my eyes at him.“No. I won't.” “Please, Laura. Enter inside the car.” he said. His words literally shocked me because I knew Lucas Harrison to be the man that never begged, so what the hell was g
Lucas's POV.I slammed Chad against the wall so hard that the glass beside him ended up breaking. I was sure that some pieces of the glass must have pierced not too deeply into his skin.“Where is she?” I asked. He knew who exactly I was talking about. But the only emotion he could express at that moment, was to laugh at me, right in my face.“You came all the way here for a woman?” he asked. “Damn, Lucas. Love really destroyed you.”My fist tightened around his shirt collar as I spoke up. “Don’t test my patience. Tracing your whereabouts till I found you is enough to tell you how dangerous I am. I don't know you in any way, so why are you after me? Why did you use Laura as a pawn to get to me? Who are you working for?”“If I decide to test your patience, what are you going to do to me?” he shot back. “Will you hit me? Then, go ahead and do it. Maybe that will make Laura finally pity you enough, and she will come back to you”The sound of her name coming out of his mouth made my blood
Laura's POV.I walked into the private restaurant room, knowing fully well that Victor Morgan was a really dangerous man.I looked at the man sitting across the table. He looked too calm for someone capable of ruining lives. He slowly lifted his wine glass in the air, his eyes unfailingly fixed on me.“Laura,” he called me.I didn’t sit down on a chair. That was what I was supposed to do as soon as I got near him.“You forced me back to New York,” I lashed at him instantly. “Say whatever you want to say quickly.”“You sound brave,” he said, smiling at me.“I’m not scared of you.”“That’s a lie.”He gestured toward the chair opposite him. “Sit down.”“No, I won't sit.”“Then stand.”The way he said it made coldness shiver into my spine and I remained standing. I was done being weak, now I needed to be that bold girl anyone should be scared of Victor crossed one leg over the other. “You resemble your mother.”“What?” I exclaimed. “How do you know my mother?”“She had the same eyes as y
Lucas's POV.I stared at Zara, my chest rising and falling asleep her words kept on echoing in my ears. For a moment, I wanted to deny it again. That I wasn't in love with Laura but I just couldn't lie so brutally to myself. I was done doing any of that.In order to melt down the situation at hand, I began to laugh while shaking my head.“You are not going to understand anything, Zara.”“Then make me understand, dad.” she pressured as I walked past her, grabbing the bottle of whiskey as I poured it into the empty glass on the table.“You want to understand? Then, it is fine by me, I'll explain everything to you.” I said, taking a sip of the whiskey. Then, I set the glass down, slamming it harder than necessary.“She betrayed me, Zara. I saw the photos,” I saw her handing the pen drive to that man and I heard her voice in that video. And yet, despite everything she has done to me. I still can't hate her.”Admitting my feelings made me feel like something was ripping open inside of me.
Lucas's POV.“Think I just saw Laura.” I said, the words coming out of my mouth before I even realized I had said them. “Sir. You didn't see her.” one of my body guards said as we all stood in the middle ground of the airport. “Are you trying to argue with me? I said I saw her. She was standing right there.” I said, pointing in the other direction like I was trying to convince myself that what I saw was really Laura.“Are you really sure of what you're saying sir? You can actually give us the go ahead to go towards that direction.”“I don't know anymore. That is what Laura has reduced me to, I don't even trust myself on my own eyes anymore.” I said, laughing at myself. My bodyguards just stood still without saying a word to me. It was actually good that way, I didn't want to hear their voices because I didn't want you to sound as though they were trying to pity me.“I've been coming to this airport every single fucking day. Do you know how crazy that sounds, if I was to say this to
