CHAPTER 10

MIA'S POV

We all take our bags to our room and start unpacking. I offered to share space with Layla but she said she only brought one bag and does not plan on unpacking.

After unpacking, Rhea suggested we should walk around and get familiar with the place and I agree as I've been feeling anxious since we arrived though I'm not sure if it's being in a new place or all the different wolves around. Hopefully, a walk will help.

Once outside, we pass many other cabin that looks like ours. I spot wolves all around smiling because they found their wolves already and some crying as they found their mate but are not happy. Rhea and Layla are talking to each other but I don't pay attention as the thought of meeting my mate here now makes me nervous.

Maybe he won't like me or maybe he will reject me. Unlike Rhea,I didn't really date. My parents strict rules made it hard to go out so instead I kept focus on school.

The only boy I was ever close to was my childhood friend Ethan and we were inseparable. We hang out everyday at the packhouse or at the pack.He was such a gentleman even though we were young. Opening doors for me,picking me flowers, always making sure I ate first before he even took a bite of his food.

I remember being heartbroken after we moved but I wasn't sure why. Maybe it was from missing my best friend or leaving behind the only home I knew. I was surprised we didn't keep in touch after I moved but I guess friends drift apart sometimes.

Before we can walk around any longer, an announcement is made over a loud intercom. "All wolves in group A, please go to the football field". The voice repeats over and over.

"We're in group A! Let's go! Let's go!". Rhea squeals excitedly and grabbed me and Layla arms, dragging us towards the football field.

The closer we got to the football field, the more anxious I get. We make it to the field but the crowd is so large we are far at the back with at least five rows of wolves in front of us. An older wolf stand up on a wooden platform and speaks into a megaphone not sure why as we wolves all have super hearing.

"Welcome everyone, I am Leon and I'm happy to see so many new faces this year. Now this camp isn't just for finding your mate but also to make lasting friendships and connections. The wolf world work better when we all get along better".

Some of the wolves start to laugh and make jokes but Leon continues.

"By now, you should all be checked in and ready for the first event which is dodgeball. We will split you into four teams. May the moon goddess bless you all with good luck". Leon smiles and a younger she-wolf comes up to stand on the wooden platform next.

The she wolf starts rambling off names and whether to go to the left or to the right side. Luckily, Rhea and Layla are on my team.

When the game finally starts I hide at the back. Most of the females are hiding except Layla who loves sports. Layla and about ten other wolves are running and throwing balls at the other team.

I look over at Rhea and see she is texting on her phone. " Really Ree, this isn't the time pay attention". I scold her.

"Sorry, I just saw a cute dress and just had to order it". Rhea says keeping her focus on her phones like balls aren't flying around everywhere.

"Let's move around, maybe no one will notice us". I tell her but she isn't paying attention. Just then, a ball flies by is and hits Rhea in the chest.

"What the hell assholes!". Rhea yells and storms of the field smiling. I know she is happy because she didn't want to play anyway.

I keep playing and soon my team is down to give players besides me. There is Layla, another girl with red hair and three male wolves. I throw a ball

at a wolf on the other team but I miss. Just then, a wolf on my team walks up to me and I can tell he is an Alpha from the dominant aura surrounding him.

"Nice throw, but you should angle your arm back a little maybe it'll help". he says and I roll my eyes without sparing him a glance.

"Thanks but dodgeball isn't my sport anyway".

He chuckles and put out a hand for me to shake. "I'm Alpha Edward of the Black Water Pack. What's your name darling?". I can't believe he's flirting with me during a game. I roll my eyes and turn to look at this Alpha Male.

I look him up and down and he's pretty handsome but the mischievous glint in his eyes tells me how much of a player he is and I want no part of it. I can already smell five different female scents on him.

I turn my head back to focus on the game as a ball flies out way and I move to dodge it. Edward catches it and throws it back hitting another wolf on the other team.

"You know you could thank me, I just kept you from getting out. You could at least tell me your name".

I scoff. Normally I'm a nice person but something about this guy gives me the chills but he is an Alpha and they hate when they're been disrespected, especial by a lower rank wolf so I fake a smile and put out my hand for him to shake.

"I'm Avery,Diamond Pack". I answer and a big smile creeps up on Edward's face. He grabs my hand and pulls it to his mouth kissing it. I yank my hand away fast and Edward looks annoyed. Just then, I feel a ball hit me in my side.

"Out!". I hear the commander yell and I start to walk off the field. I have my back turned to Edward.

"See you soon,Avery". He whispers and I fell chills down my spine. Reenah feels uneasy, she doesn't like him too.
