I tried to forget about my boss. When Sara invited me to dance, I immediately joined her. The music was too loud, and I wanted to lose myself in it. I danced like it was my last dance—giving it my all, not caring about the whistles I could hear around me.

“Whooaaa… Go girl! You’re so sexy!” Sara shouted despite the loud music.

For a moment while dancing, I forgot my problems. But I didn’t expect what happened next. I was so lost in my own world when suddenly someone grabbed my waist, and my back hit a solid, hard body. The heat radiating from the person spread across me.

I noticed Sara and my colleagues were stunned by what was happening. They stopped dancing and stared at me and the person behind me in surprise.

“No wonder your work is such a mess…you’re busy doing this,” the man whispered behind me.

My heart started pounding immediately.

I tried to pull his hand away from my waist, but he refused to let go. Instead, he pressed me closer to him.

“What are you doing?” I asked nervously. I didn’t want a commotion. I didn’t want my colleagues to know how my boss was belittling me.

I felt his breath against my ear. “No wonder your work sucks, yet your boss praises you so much. You like to seduce, huh?” he whispered.

I gritted my teeth. I was used to being belittled and accused of terrible things by him—but what I didn’t want was for my colleagues to see it. I didn’t want my image as a competent employee to be tarnished in their eyes.

For my last attempt, I tried to remove his hand from my waist again. But I was startled when he suddenly yanked it away, pushing me so that I nearly stumbled over the man in front of me.

I turned to Alaric angrily once I was steady on my feet. I saw him smirking evilly. He looked me over from head to toe, shaking his head in disapproval. Then he left, leaving me embarrassed.

“Seraphina, what was that?” Sara asked. “Your boss looks so disappointed in you,” she said with a look of disappointment too.

I froze at her words. My boss had always been disappointed in me, but seeing Sara’s slightly disappointed expression made it hard for me to accept.

I felt my voice tremble as I spoke. “I-It’s nothing. He just… said something.”

I glanced at my colleagues and saw their confusion at what had happened. They were shocked at how Alaric had treated me.

“Excuse me…” I said quickly.

I walked to the counter, tears spilling from my eyes. I couldn’t stop it. I was supposed to be here to have fun, to forget about my damn work. But why was this happening?

I had a lot to drink. I didn’t know where my friends were. The last time I saw them, they were still on the dance floor, but since I was a bit tipsy, I couldn’t see them anymore. So I decided to go home while I could still walk and not crawl.

I felt the sadness and embarrassment from what had happened as I walked outside. But once I was out, I stopped abruptly.

Damn! I wanted to avoid him. I’d had enough baggage for today—but it was too late. My boss was already staring at me. He was leaning against his car, arms crossed, his gaze fixed on me.

I immediately looked down. The sadness only became more defined—heavier. I thought the alcohol would make me forget. It didn’t. My eyes watered as I started walking again. It didn’t help that I had to pass by him just to get a taxi.

I heard him groan as I got close.

“Get in…” he ordered when I was in front of him.

I stopped and looked at him wearily. I didn’t know if it was because my eyes were watering, but I saw a gentleness in his gaze.

I couldn’t speak. I knew my voice would break if I tried. So I just shook my head. I blinked several times to stop my tears from falling.

He looked away briefly before opening the passenger seat.

“I’ll get you home,” he said.

He licked his lips when I refused to respond.

“You’re tired, Seraphina. You’ve had enough. I’ll get you home safely…” he said gently yet slightly hoarse voice. The way he speak it's as if he was comforting me.

“I.. I'm tired.” My voice cracked, which didn't surprise me anymore. “I'll do the proposal again.”

A tear fell from my eye. I wiped it away and sobbed.

“I'll do my best next time… and…” I wanted to say something more but he didn't let me finish.

“I don't give a damn about the proposal. I'm taking you home safely, Seraphina,” he said with finality.

I don’t know if the person on the line heard it. He licked his lips and chuckled darkly as he listened. He slid a hand around my waist and pulled me closer. He leaned me against his chest, and together we faced the view outside. I smiled when I caught our reflection in the glass. He was holding me while on a business call. I, on the other hand, stared outside, listening to their conversation. The next day, my hand felt a bit better. I could move it without pain. So after breakfast, I went on with my work. Alaric did the same. He was constantly on calls or video calls about business. That’s how we spent the entire day—working. The day after that, Alaric had to go out to meet the person he came to Italy for. I was fine being alone. It’s not like I’d disappear if he left me by myself—but he didn’t like it.“I’ll be fine… no one’s going to kidnap me here,” I said, a little stressed. I’d been explaining for a while that I was okay on my own.He scoffed. “I know you’ll be fine.”I rolled my

I moaned when I felt Alaric’s hand on my legs, almost brushing my private part. I jolted when I felt his other hand slip inside my T-shirt.“Alaric, please…” I said, even though I didn’t know why. I barely recognized my own voice—it sounded so sensual. He groaned. His lips returned to mine, kissing me again. I couldn’t control my hands, but because one of them was bandaged and hurt whenever it was touched, I kept it pressed to my side even though I badly wanted to hold on to him.I moaned again when I felt his hand move between my legs. He traced slow, circular motions there, making me squirm. I tried to close my legs. He didn’t like that, so he forced them apart with his thigh. Now he had full access to my private part, my legs wide open for him.His other hand landed on my breasts, kneading them like dough. I moaned loudly at what he was doing to me.He chuckled playfully. My breath hitched when I felt one of his fingers brush my private part. He pushed my panties aside, and shivers

I don’t know how many hours I was unconscious. I woke up to find a proper bandage wrapped around my hand. I was also lying properly, which I remember I wasn’t before I lost consciousness. My hand no longer hurt, and I felt a little lighter. But who treated my wound? Did Alaric do it even though he was mad at me?I was still deep in thought when the door suddenly opened. I saw Alaric holding a tray of food. His face showed no emotion, and I knew he was still mad.Come to think of it, it really was my fault why he got angry. I was with him on this trip, then suddenly I disappeared without him knowing. If he did the same to me and suddenly vanished, I would be angry too—especially since I didn’t bring much money with me.He placed the tray on the bedside table. I looked away when he stood beside me. My chest slowly grew heavy because of the thoughts running through my mind.Does he still think I’m pretending? That I fainted just to avoid working?“Here’s your breakfast,” he said, still s

Alaric immediately rushed to me. I couldn’t hold it in anymore and burst into tears. Maybe because of the pressure and the pain in my right hand. Even more when I saw him approach me with anger written all over his face.“You couldn’t even do a small thing without causing trouble,” he said irritably, gripping my bleeding hand.I closed my eyes and simply accepted his harsh words. I really thought he had started to treat me better. I thought that because of his kisses, he would stop mistreating me. But I was wrong.Even with tears clouding my eyes, I could still see his jaw clenched tight. He was still angry even though I was hurt.“You planned this so you wouldn’t be able to work, huh?” he accused, disappointment dripping from his voice.I pulled my hand away from his grip. I wiped my tears and slowly stood up, forcing myself to hold back my sobs.“You want me to pity you, huh… good try, Seraphina.” He smirked. “But it’s not working, so get the fuck up and report to me the progress of

Alaric fell asleep from how drunk he was. I pushed him away because I was starting to feel breathless. He was much heavier than me.Nervously, I sat up after managing to lay him down beside me. I heard him groan, but his eyes remained closed.Feeling weak, I stood up and paced back and forth. I couldn’t believe what had happened. I know he was drunk and probably didn’t know what he was doing, but it was still terrifying to think that something worse could have happened if he hadn’t passed out. What was he even angry about? Was it because I went out? Or because I was with Magnus? Is he jealous?I let out a sarcastic laugh at myself. Come on, Seraphina. He’s been making your life miserable—why would he be jealous? But then… how did he know I was with another man? Did he see us?Since Alaric was completely asleep, I didn’t know where to sleep. Carrying him was not an option. I also didn’t want to sleep in his room because something might go missing and I could get blamed for it.For seve

I immediately asked Magnus to take me back to the hotel after reading Alaric’s text. My phone had been on silent, and I hadn’t checked it since I left. Magnus kept asking if I was okay because I looked pale on the way back, but I only nodded at him.It was already dark when I got out of his car. I didn’t even manage to thank him because I was in such a hurry. I heard him call out to me, but because I was anxious, I didn’t turn back.I practically flew down the hallway toward our suite. I had spare key cards, so I got in right away. When I opened the door, the place was dark. A few lights were on, but not enough to see the whole room clearly. At first, the place was quiet, so I thought Alaric was already in his room. But I was wrong. I felt chills when he spoke.“Where did you go?” he asked coldly.I couldn’t see him clearly in the dim light, but when he spoke again, I finally made him out. He was sitting on the couch, a glass of alcohol in his hand. He swirled the drink, then looked s
