Tessa Ford ~•~ I shook my head. “No, I’m not signing the papers. I didn’t cheat on you. I have no idea where you got your information from, but you’re wrong!” The envelope fell to the ground but Grayson picked it up and tossed it on the bed. “I’m done talking, Tessa. I already have all the proof I need and nothing you say is going to erase everything I saw.” He said, his voice sharp. “Just sign the papers so we can get over with this shit.” This shit? I forced myself to hold back the tears that were threatening to fall from my eyes. “Can’t you see that someone is trying to come between us?” I asked, my voice catching in my throat. “I didn’t cheat on you. I would never betray you like that.” Grayson didn’t seem moved by what I had said. He was determined to believe whoever had fed him those lies. He couldn’t even give me the benefit of the doubt. He couldn’t even talk to me about it when he found out whatever he found. So for four weeks, he thought I was cheating on him. And he felt the best thing to do was to act cold and distant towards me. Whatever happened to communicating? “Someone is trying to come between us?” He asked with a chuckle but there was no humor in it. “You really want to blame this on someone else?” I nodded. “Yes, someone has given you fake information about me and you are believing them,” I murmured, trying to reason with him. He scoffed. “It isn’t fake. The person who told me about you is really close to you and the information is credible.” My heart sank at his words and I drew in a shaky breath. Someone close to me? Who could that be? Who could possibly be close to me and betray me like that? My mind immediately started racing through the names of people who were close to me. My assistant, my co-workers, my best friend, my sister, and even my mom, but none of them made sense. “Who told you that?” I asked with a hint of curiosity in my voice. “What did they even tell you?” Grayson stared at me for a while before finally responding. “It doesn’t matter who told me. All that matters is that you’ve ruined our marriage.” I pressed a hand against my head. “I didn’t do anything, Grayson. You have to believe me.” I pleaded. “Think about our daughter. You can’t just end our marriage just because of lies from someone jealous of us.” “Jealous?” He asked with a bitter laugh. “This person isn’t jealous of us. The person only did it to save me from further humiliation.” Who the hell was he talking about? Why wouldn’t he tell me who the person was? I took a few steps closer to him, reaching out to his hand. But he yanked it away almost immediately. “Don’t touch me!” He yelled, staring at me like I was some sort of dirt or something. My heart shattered for the umpteenth time. I was hurt that he believed that kind of lie, but I was also getting angry because he didn’t want to believe me when I was clearly telling the truth. “Show me the proof. Show me what they told you.” I said, my anger simmering just beneath the surface. I was curious to know what had convinced him. From the way he looked at me, whatever he saw must’ve been really bad. He shook his head. “I can’t show you because I don’t even want to look at them for a second time, but I can tell you the name of the person you cheated with…maybe it would ring a bell.” His eyes were burning with rage. I couldn’t even think of anybody that I had flirted with in the last few months. “Okay, I’m listening,” I said with a tired sigh. “Asher…Asher Frost.” He said through gritted teeth. “Does it ring a bell?” Asher? He's got to be kidding me! He really thought I would cheat on him with one of my male models? I already knew who must’ve fed him that wrong information. “It was Sabine, right? Sabine told you about it.” My voice trembled as I asked. I didn’t want to believe that my sister would actually do something so cruel and at the same time act like things were good between us. I thought we had already moved past that situation. So the phone call earlier was just an act? Fake concern? We started our fashion brand together. But lately, things have been weird between us because of Asher Frost. But I had no idea she took it that seriously. When we signed him, he requested that he specifically wanted me to be his personal designer in the company. And that made Sabine feel a certain type of way. Even if she tried to mask her annoyance, I could see right past her. At first, I thought it was just a little phase that would wear off with time, but I was wrong. Every time Asher was around, her attitude shifted. She’d glare at me whenever he complimented my designs, roll her eyes whenever he called me brilliant, and even criticize my work in front of him. I just let it slide. But it became out of hand when she accused me of flirting with him. I didn’t even think too much about it after I reminded her that I was married and wouldn’t even date my clients. “It wasn’t Sabine.” Grayson’s jaw hardened but I knew he was lying. He just didn’t want to throw her under the bus. “Are you really protecting her? You knew things were weird between me and my sister for a while and you chose to believe her when she said I was cheating on you?” What if this wasn’t even about Sabine trying to end the marriage? What if Grayson had just been acting, trying to push all the blame to me just so he would be free to be with his ex? He chose to believe her because it was the easy way out, or else, he would have listened to me when I said I didn’t cheat on him. I was still curious to know what kind of proof she had shown to him. Who knows if there was even any proof? My mind raced with different thoughts as I looked at him. “Tessa, like I said earlier, you can’t lie your way out of it. Sign the papers and let’s get this over with.” He replied, his voice firm. I ran a hand through my hair, shaking my head in disbelief. “You come back home this morning after missing your daughter’s birthday, you don’t even go to her room to see how she’s doing…you just serve me divorce papers without thinking of how it would affect Raven.” Grayson gritted his teeth in annoyance. “Don’t put Raven in the middle of this, Tessa.” I scoffed. “She is in the middle of this!” I spat. “Have you thought about what would happen to her if we get divorced?” Before he could even respond, his phone started ringing. My chest tightened as I saw the name flashing across his screen. Vanessa. I stared at him, wondering if he was about to answer the call. He didn’t even hesitate, he picked up the call right in front of me. “Yeah,” he said calmly. “I’ll be right over.” My heart shattered. From the other end, I could hear Vanessa’s faint voice, soft and teasing. “Unbelievable,” I muttered under my breath. “You didn’t even try to hide it.” He looked at me coldly. “And just know that you’re to blame for my next course of action.” I froze, blinking hard as if I hadn’t heard right. What was he about to do?Chapter 280Tessa Ford ~•~“Mama, you didn’t tell us we would be spending the night at Grandma’s house!” Jade groaned from the back seat as I drove them back to the house. I looked at her from the rearview mirror. “Didn’t you have a great time at her house?” “We did. Jade just likes to complain,” Jack replied, glaring at Jade. They were about to fight, so I had to say something that would distract them. “I have something important to tell both of you,” I said sharply. They both paused. And stared at me in anticipation. “Your father and I are getting married again, and we will all be one happy family,” I said with a proud smile registered on my face. “Does it mean that we will start living together again?” Jack asked, his voice laced with excitement. “Will you have a wedding?” Jade added. I nodded. “Yes, we will have a wedding. And we will start living together again after the wedding.” They both squealed. “Yayy! Finally!” “But before planning the wedding, we are going to
Chapter 279Grayson Grant ~•~“Do you want to eat?” I asked Tessa after we broke the hug. “Or do you want us to go over to the bedroom?” Tessa chuckled. “You know what? I’m not even hungry,” she said with a mischievous grin. I didn’t waste another second.“Come with me,” I murmured.I held her hand and guided her to the bedroom. I led her down the familiar hallway of the house we once called home. When I pushed open the door to our old bedroom, Tessa hesitated at the entrance. It was just for a second, but I noticed. “I missed waking up next to you every morning,” she admitted, her voice almost inaudible. “Me too, Tessa. I always dreamed about it, and now, it’s about to come to pass,” I added as we walked inside the room. Then I closed the door behind us. When we got inside, I turned to her and cupped her face with both hands. “Are you sure about this?” I asked, my voice polite. “I know I said I wanted to feel close to you, but if you aren’t in the mood right now, we can alwa
Chapter 278Tessa Ford ~•~Are you not going to ask me to marry you properly this time?” I asked softly, once I’d finally managed to stop crying. When I said I’d spent the entire night thinking about giving him a second chance and came to a decision but had no idea if it was the right one, I actually decided to give him a second chance. But I didn’t want to make it too easy for him. I wanted him to be able to convince me that he really wanted me and would keep to all his promises. And a part of me chose to believe him. Grayson sounded so sincere. And it was true that ever since he met me, he had been trying to make up for his past mistakes. There was no point pretending that he wasn’t my soulmate anymore. I’d tried my best to push him away. We had been through so much but he always found a way to stick around. Grayson chuckled. “I didn’t think you would want me to ask you right away because—.” “I want you to ask me right away,” I cut him off before he could finish his sentence.
Chapter 277Grayson Grant ~•~The way Tessa’s expression shifted when I mentioned marriage made my heart jump. Didn’t she want that? I’d already gotten a ring. What did she think I meant when I talked about wanting a second chance and building our family? Did she think I was talking about dating? I honestly didn’t want us to waste our time with that. We’d already lost so much time, and I wanted us to make up for it. “Tessa…” I whispered. “Is everything okay?” The smile she had earlier had disappeared, replaced with an unreadable expression on her face. What was going through her mind? Was she trying to reconsider? It felt like my heart was in my hand as I waited for her to respond. “Don’t you want to get married to me again?” I asked, my throat suddenly tight. She let out a deep exhale, unable to hold my gaze. “I don’t know, Grayson… agreeing to give you a second chance is one thing, but trusting you with forever is entirely something else,” she replied, her voice filled
Chapter 276Tessa Ford ~•~Grayson asked me to meet him at the house. The entire ride there, I kept thinking about what the outcome of our conversation would be. Well, I already spent most of the night trying to come up with a decision. I even made a pros and cons list in my head. But I still wasn’t sure I was making the right decision. After a while, I decided to shove my thoughts to the back of my head and focus on the road. A few minutes later, I arrived at Grayson’s house. When I walked into the building, I was welcomed with the aroma of roasted chicken and peppered sauce. Pregnancy had turned my senses into something sharper, more intense, and almost overwhelming at times.I could tell exactly what they were cooking. When the nanny saw me, she smiled and led me to the dining room. At first, I was confused, but she explained to me that it was where Grayson wanted me to be. I didn’t protest. I mean, I could use some food. The table was already set. I pulled out the chair
Chapter 275Grayson Grant ~•~The whole time at work, I kept thinking about the conversation I was to have with Tessa later in the day. I couldn’t even focus on my work. “Do you know you’ve been chewing on that pen for the last five minutes?” Ethan’s voice dragged me out of reverie. I looked up at him slowly and dropped the pen on the desk. “How long have you been standing there for?” I asked, curious. He stepped away from the door and walked into the office. “For about five minutes,” he said as he took a seat opposite me. “What’s on your mind? What are you thinking about?” I rubbed my chin thoughtfully for a moment, then I sat upright. “You know with the baby and everything… I’ve just been thinking.” Ethan leaned forward. “Thinking about what?” he asked, fixing his narrowed gaze on me. I let out a deep exhale. “Tessa and I have been through so much these past months, and everything that has happened made me realize that we are actually meant for each other.”Ethan lifted a br
Chapter 122Grayson Grant ~•~ “Daddy!” Jade screamed as she jumped into my arms. My eyes were filled with tears as I hugged her tighter. “Oh, my baby! I’m so happy to see you,” I exhaled shakily. “Are you okay? Are you hurt?” I asked as I broke the hug and checked different parts of her body to
Chapter 116Grayson Grant ~•~ “I’m so sorry, Grayson. I can’t even imagine what you’re going through right now.” Ava’s sympathetic voice echoed through the other end of the line. I paced around the room. “I don’t even know what to do. The police aren’t being very helpful, they don’t even have a
Chapter 121Tessa Ford~•~ I tapped my fingers on my thigh nervously as I waited for the call to connect. Every second that passed made my chest tightened even more. Finally, she answered the call. “Sabine, where is my daughter?” I demanded, my voice filled with accusation. “Where did you take m
Chapter 101Grayson Grant ~•~I knew I sounded stupid, but I was desperate enough to say anything that would make her listen to me and reconsider going out with Zane. I couldn’t believe Tessa would act like she had no idea who he was. Maybe she had genuinely forgotten, but did she just erase ever
