Ezra pov

I gasped, stumbling back as the light surged through me. My limbs felt like molten metal, heavy and sharp all at once, yet strangely alive. The sensation made my skin tingle and my teeth ache. It was as if my entire body remembered something it had long forgotten. Something primal and urgent, a rhythm I had never known but that pulsed in my veins like the heartbeat of the world itself.

Ivan’s hands stayed firmly on my arms, grounding me, holding me to the earth while my senses spiraled out of control. “Breathe,” he commanded, voice low but filled with iron. “I’m right here. Don’t fight it. Let it flow. Let it show you who you are.”

I tried. I clenched my jaw and forced my breath steady, but the world around me warped. Trees stretched taller than they should, the wind sounded like whispers in a language I didn’t understand, and my heart beat louder than my ears could tolerate. My body shook violently, and I could feel something deep in my core stir—something that made me ache

The first gunshot cracked through the night like thunder. My body reacted before my mind did. The silver light inside me surged outward, sharp and fast, and the bullet shattered midair, falling in burning fragments at my feet. Gasps tore through the clearing. The armed figures hesitated, shock rippling through their line. Then everything exploded.Wolves shifted in flashes of bone and fur. The sound was violent, wet, powerful. My pack surged forward in a wave of snapping teeth and flying bodies. The humans fired wildly, panic breaking their formation. One wolf leapt so high it seemed impossible, slamming into a man’s chest and carrying him into the dirt with a bone crushing impact.Ivan moved before I even realized I was in danger. He yanked me back just as another shot rang out. The bullet sliced through the space where my head had been a second earlier. My heart slammed brutally against my ribs.“They are not just hunters,” he said fast. “They are trained for wolves.”Another blast.

Ezra povThe forest was alive in a way I had never noticed before. Every leaf, every shadow, every rustle of wind felt like it was speaking directly to me. My senses were heightened, every sound sharper, every smell richer, every movement amplified. Ivan walked beside me, calm and steady, guiding me through the thick underbrush, but I barely noticed him. All my attention was on the pull—the undeniable, magnetic pull that tugged at my soul. My pack. My blood. My family. We emerged into a clearing, and my chest tightened. There were wolves—dozens of them—circling in a wide formation. Not just ordinary wolves. Humans with the aura of power radiating from them, eyes glinting with recognition, with loyalty, with something primal that made my skin tingle and my heart race. One stepped forward, taller than the rest, broad-shouldered, with silver hair catching the last light of the setting sun. His eyes were like molten gold, fierce, commanding, and familiar in a way that made my breath hitch

Ezra’s POV. The moment Ivan walked out of the clinic, the room felt too quiet. Too heavy. Almost as if the walls themselves held their breath and waited for something to explode. I sank back onto the pillow, clutching the ends of the blanket like it could hold me together when everything inside me felt like it was slipping apart.I hated how shaken I was. I hated how Ivan’s voice replayed in my mind with all its fear and heat and frustration. I hated how my body reacted whenever he entered the room, as if every part of me recognized him before my thoughts even tried. Most of all, I hated that I understood that fear. Because something inside me was waking up. Something old. Something vast. Something that stretched beneath my skin like it was trying to break free. The door creaked and my chest tightened. I expected Ivan, because of course I would. Instead it was my mother, slipping inside and closing the door quietly behind her.“Ezra” she whispered, voice already trembling. “Are you h

  • My Cruel Stepbrother is My Mate    CHAPTER 20

IVAN POV The forest was thick, shadows folding over us like a living blanket. Ezra stayed close, her hand gripping mine with a pressure that said she was still frightened, still unsure if I’d really keep her safe. I welcomed it. Her trust was fragile, but it was something I could hold on to,something I could protect. We moved quickly, the moonlight barely enough to illuminate the path. Every step was calculated. Every snap of a twig, every rustle of leaves, made my senses scream alert. My wolf prowled beneath my skin, urging me forward, coiling and flexing with the anticipation of blood, danger, and the responsibility of keeping Ezra alive. I didn’t have the luxury of fear; my fear belonged to her.“Where are we going?” Ezra asked softly, her voice nearly swallowed by the night.“To somewhere safe,” I said. Short, sharp. I didn’t elaborate. She didn’t need to know yet. Knowledge could weigh her down, make her hesitate—and hesitation meant vulnerability. She didn’t push, but I felt th

  • My Cruel Stepbrother is My Mate    CHAPTER 19

IVAN POV The night wind cut against my skin as I held Ezra tighter, the tremor in her shoulders vibrating straight into my bones. For a moment I didn’t move. I just kept her pressed against me like she was the only thing anchoring me to the earth. Her breath hitched, warm against my neck, and something inside me twisted hard enough to bruise.I didn’t know how long we stayed like that. Minutes. Hours. Time didn’t mean anything when she was in my arms. But something else did.Movement.A shift in the air.A scent that didn’t belong to either of us.Danger.I lifted my head sharply, scanning the treeline behind the abandoned theatre. “Ezra,” I murmured, voice low but steady. “We need to move.”She didn’t look up immediately. Her grip stayed on my shirt like she wasn’t ready to let go of the tiny piece of safety she had found. But when she finally lifted her face, her eyes were red—filled with fear and exhaustion, but iron deeper inside.“What is it?” she whispered.“Not here,” I said.
