The next morning, Emily and Brian shared the same room in the house of one of Brian’s friends.

He slept on the couch and she occupied the bed.

“Brian, it’s a good thing that my parents are abroad otherwise…” Jake Miller, one of Brian’s closest friends said smiling.

“Sorry bro… I owed you one!” Brian answered coolly.

He could not leave Emily elsewhere.

She also refused to go back to her neighborhood as her situation with her father was too difficult.

“Bro, until now, I am still wondering. Who is Emily Greyson in your life aside from being just a friend and neighbor, huh?!” Jake’s tone was doubtful and teasing.

All their friends were a long time curious about Emily as she was the only girl in Brian’s circle.

Maybe it was time for him to admit it since he owed him.

In the corner, Emily went to get a glass of water and happened to hear their conversation.

“Jake, stop messing. Emily is my childhood friend. She is…” Brian paused thinking of an appropriate word to describe Emily.

“She is…” Jake’s curiosity was more triggered.

Brian looked at him first before he smiled and continued.

“Special… She is special…”

“Woah!” Jake patted Brian’s shoulder giggling. “Come on, bro! Why are you doing this to me? What special? Do you want to court her and be your official girlfriend?” Jake’s curiosity was unstoppable.

Brian was a good talker but asking about Emily, he was too secretive.

Brian protected this girl on campus that was why she survived despite her poor status.

“When did you become so nosy?” Brian quickly averted the topic.

Emily was indeed special for him but he would rather keep it to himself than ruin their friendship.

Besides, friendship has no break-ups!

“Come on, we have to go!” At this time, Brian saw Emily at the corner.

His eyes immediately sparked as he smiled at her charmingly.

He tilted his head to signal her that they needed to head out.

Emily quickly got Brian’s message and chased them out.

When the three arrived at the school, some of Brian’s friends were gathered in the parking.

Chatting different rich-kid topics.

When they saw Brian and Emily together with Jake, they could not help but be curious too.

“Wait a minute, Brian! Don’t tell me you guys decided to cohabit before graduating?” Blake Carlson asked full of malice in his tone referring to Emily and Brian.

Emily stiffened as she blushed with Blake’s remarks.

Brian saw Emily’s reaction quickly so he patted her shoulder.

“Buzz off!” Brian shooed Blake away cooly but Keith Brown butted in with another malicious word.

“Did you two get married behind our back? Jake, you should tell us the truth otherwise, I will not let you off the hook!”

Hearing this, Emily blushed more.

What on earth she was hearing this right now?

Though she knew Brian’s friends, she still couldn’t stand being put in a hotspot.

Jake just laughed.

Emily quickly took away Brian’s arm around her shoulder.

“Keith, buzz off!” Brian chuckled lightly.

“I have to go. Blake and Keith, don’t skip breakfast, okay?” Since they were Brian’s friends, Emily refused lightly.

It was good to say they had to eat breakfast so they could think properly. Even though Brian’s friends were the most handsome in their school, Emily could not stand their tactless jokes.

Jake, Blake, Keith and Brian were chased by girls on the campus because of their good looks.

Aside from that, they were the top varsity basketball players with awesome height and great physique.

In the campus, they were the celebrities.

Emily left Brian and his friends in the parking area limping.

Her foot was sprained last night.

Though Brian already put on an ice pack, the pain just subsided a little and the pain in her heart felt no healing at all.

She cried all night for that very rare opportunity just slipped away from her hand.

She was heartbroken.

“You are fired!!!” These words from Charles made her heart shattered to pieces.

His eyes filled with anger with her.

Looking at them, one could question own’s self-worth.

Emily felt like the dumbest person in the world.

How could she mess up like this?

“E, wait up!” Brian cut her thoughts. He chased her and left his friends to help her walk properly but she refused. She didn’t want Brian’s friends to make fun of them again.

When she entered the school, she felt a bit off.

Some students were laughing and talking behind her back.

Buzzing was heard everywhere and Emily felt that they were talking about her.

She frowned but she quickly got rid of the idea.

Maybe she was just overthinking!

Wobbling, Emily walked directly to her classroom, not minding the people around her.

They heard from the outside that they were lively talking about Charles Adam’s whereabouts like they knew him personally or they were very close to him but when she appeared at the door’s frame, all eyes landed on her.

Emily looked at them doubtful.

She knew something was really off.

They all looked at her with mockery.

Charlotte, Valerie, and Lixie stood up with hands on their waist.

“Ladies and gents, announcing the arrival of the sugar baby in our class!” Charlotte’s tone was provoking and right after her introduction, she applauded.

Everyone clapped like welcoming a newcomer.

Emily used to these bullies but at this time, the word, ’sugar baby’ was already below the belt.

These rich kids were truly mean and insensitive.

The room was full of mockery and sarcasm but Emily stayed composed.

Until she knew that she was not doing anything wrong, she had nothing to say.

She didn’t need to defend herself from this bunch of idiots!

She walked to her seat but Valerie blocked her.

Valerie looked at her arrogantly.

She sneered at Emily.

“How dare you come to school today? Emily, drop the act! You are already busted! You are acting demure but inside you are wild! Hahaha!” Valerie laughed at Emily disgustingly.

Everyone followed laughing.

Amidst the mocking, Emily stood still.

5 months left to their graduation.

She didn’t need to see them again in the future.

Emily could not wait.

“Yeah! You should be embarrassed of your doing! You should quit school because we don’t want someone’s cheap classmate, duh!?!” Lixie complained rolling her eyes at Emily.

Emily was trying to understand their obsession with bullying her.

In the past, they kept bullying her because of her poor status but she endured.

With Brian on her side, they eventually stopped.

“You are a whore!!!” Someone shouted and started throwing her a ball of paper.

It hit her head.

“You don’t belong here!” Another ball of paper landed on her shoulder.

“Emily, you are so shameless!!!” Another rage sounded.

“You go to hell for being a sugar baby!!!”

“Don’t stain the reputation of our school! Get lost!”

“You are dirty!”

“A dirty woman like you has no place in this school!!!”

“You go with that old man and scram!”

Every was talking shit to her and the tension in the room went a mess being Emily as the target.

Emily never claimed that she belonged in the school.

They were the kids of the socialites and she had no match for them.

However, Emily believed that education is for all.

She has to achieve something for herself and nobody could steal it away from her.

Though she was poor, she was ambitious.

“What’s happening here?” Brian’s voice suddenly heard and his tone was indifferent.

He was just passing by with his friends and at the same time, checking on Emily.

He was stunned to witness Emily being bullied again.

Upon the strange voice, all went quiet.

Brian’s face leading his friends was somewhat displeased.

He looked at Emily’s classmates like he was tearing them apart already.

He went inside beside Emily but Emily maintained her head low.

Brian felt indescribable sadness in his heart seeing the woman beside her was silent even if he was already there.

Obviously, she didn’t want his backing up.

“Why are you bullying her, huh?” Brian had an intimidating demeanor.

Everyone’s eyes were up to him scared with his furious vibe.

At the same time, they like what they see.

The 4 celebrities in their school were inside their classroom.

Some giggled secretly amidst the high tension.

“Brian, Emily has an old man lover. Giselle saw her yesterday.” Someone quickly spilled the news out.

Gissele quickly went forward like it was her chance to shine and have a close-up with Brian.

She held her phone and gave it to Brian.

A picture was shown on her screen.

Brian’s face twitched a little.

Though Emily was covering her face with a book, it was still noticeable that it was her because of her extraordinary figure.

She had a delicate, tall, and sexy figure.

She portrayed a woman who came from a prominent family even in reality it was the opposite.

Everyone knew her social status so it was shocking to everyone that she was picked up with a luxury car yesterday and the old man.

“Here! See, the evidence doesn’t lie. Emily Greyson has a sugar daddy!” Gisele’s tone was excited and provoking showing everyone her screen.

The old man was also captured opening the car’s door for her.

Now, Emily had a clearer picture of what was happening.

These dogs were barking at the wrong tree.

It was yesterday’s incident when Mr. Floss and Warren fetched her at the entrance gate.

Obviously, they labeled Mr. Floss’s identity as the old man and her sugar daddy.

“Crack!!!” Suddenly, something shattered on the floor.

Everyone was petrified looking at Gissele’s phone.

It was strongly smashed and immediately broken.

“No!!!” Giselle cried out. She didn’t expect Brian to snatch her phone and smash it to the floor.

No one dared to defend Gissele.

Everybody was shocked and held back their words because Brian was like a leader in their school.

Teachers liked him because he was not only handsome but he was also smart and possessed good leadership in any organization he was into.

No wonder, he was always the star player.

Gissele cried out not just because of her phone but because she felt so shy and embarrassed in front of the 4 most famous students.

She had a crush on the 4 but now she had already met her end without even starting yet.

Emily just stood there unbothered by the drama.

She knew Brian was not going to slip this away easily.

“You see, Brian? Your lady friend here is not what you think of her. She played well of being demure and conservative but disgustingly, she is a dirty woman! How disgusting!” Charlotte took advantage of Brian’s rage.

She had thought that Brian was also angry with Emily.

Who wanted to have a dirty friend?

Emily just stained Brian because she is his friend.

“Shut up!” Suddenly, Brian shouted raising his hand to Charlotte.

“I thought, you learned your lesson before but I guess not,” Brian said threatening Charlotte.

Before, Brian filed a case and Charlotte had to take her parents to talk to the disciplinary dean.

In the end, she was given a toilet cleaner assignment as a punishment. With her friends of course.

Remembering this, Charlotte’s lips became pale. She didn’t want to do it again.

“Brian, at this time, it’s Emily’s fault. She was staining our school and us.” Lixie had a big crush on Brian.

She said these words sweetly trying to give a shot to seduce him with her voice but Brian just looked at her sternly.

“If Emily is innocent then why she was not even defending herself? She could not talk because she is guilty!” Valerie supported her friends quickly.

Brian was indeed shocked by Emily’s picture.

There was an inexplicable feeling in his heart because Emily didn’t tell anything to him.

They always talk about their whereabouts every day.

How come she chose not to tell this to him?

Everyone was looking at Emily waiting for her to defend herself but she didn’t. Her eyes were distant and cold. Her pride was crumpled last night and these kids added to her wound. Emily felt disheartened but she was good at keeping it.

They were not worth her emotions. Her words were merely just an air because these kids were all full of themselves.

Her words against theirs, were just a waste.

“Okay, what’s happening here? It’s time for my class. Everyone’s not included in this class… out!” Suddenly, an old strict man interrupted. He was their teacher. Brian wanted to grab Emily’s hand and take her away from these judgmental people but he controlled had to control it.

Keith, Blake, and Jake signaled to him to go out already.

Brian leaned closer to Emily,

“I’m just outside. Let’s talk later.” He said almost whispering to Emily but everyone heard Brian. It was like letting everyone know that he was not going away and no one could bully her.

Emily smirked and simply nodded. She sat on her seat and opened her book and notebook unbothered. Everyone was looking at her full of jealousy and rage but she didn’t mind them. They really wanted to kick Emily out of the campus like a wild weed on the ground that didn’t belong to the group of refined grass.

But she refused to beat them because her goal was more important to her. She had a clear sight of her goal and that was to finish her studies.

She could not wait!

It was already 6 p.m. when she finished all her classes.

She was going to the club and tried to ask the manager if she could sleep there for a while she was working there.

She avoided Brian because she was not up for talking now.

Her mind was in a mess and her heart was still in dismay and pain.

She missed Charles already but she was very unlucky.

Charles just slipped away just like that.

Really, it was just like a dream! Now, she was already wide awake.

She had to face the reality! Her struggling life, working to eat, rent, allowance and school projects, haggling work and studies, sleepless nights, tired body, it all wasn’t enough.

When she was walking to the hallway, everyone was still mocking her. Their eyes were laughing like she was wearing a clown costume. Some chit-chats were heard deliberately hitting her dignity.

“Emily Greyson is a sugar baby!”

Emily didn’t mind them. She walked to the exit but the cruelty of fate struck again.

There were more students at the exit gate.

They seemed all waiting for her and waiting to see the luxury car and the old man again.

They were there to prove and humiliate her.

Emily got it but she still didn’t bother.

After all, no one would show up again.

Not anymore.

She wanted to laugh mockingly at them but then, a black Bugatti pulled aside blocking Emily’s way.

She suddenly halted and her heart started to panic as she quickly realized the owner of the car.

What is this car doing here?

Everyone started to blow their horns again.

“So, Emily, your sugar daddy is here!”

“You dirty whore! No smoke kept as a secret forever, dear!” Charlotte and her friends couldn’t wait to humiliate her in the absence of Brian.

“Ew!!!”

“Yuck!!!”

“Dirty!!!”

The once small crowd became big surrounding Emily.

Everyone was so disgusted at Emily not until someone came out from the car.

In a swift motion, Emily was scooped from the ground and was put inside the car.

Then the car drove away.

The next thing heard was the crowd’s loud screaming and giggling.

“Charles!!!!”

The man who came to pick up Emily was none other than Charles Adam, the superstar.

Dust motes danced lazily in the air, and the ceiling fan spun in slow, sleepy circles above them.Emily stirred first. Her lashes fluttered open, and for a moment, she didn’t remember where she was. The bed beneath her was too firm, the sheets too plain, the air too still. But then she felt it—the steady rise and fall of a chest beneath her cheek. The warmth of an arm wrapped around her waist. The familiar scent of him—clean, faintly woodsy, and unmistakably Charles. She blinked slowly. Her hand was still in his.Their fingers were still laced, even in sleep. She tilted her head slightly and found herself tucked perfectly into the crook of his shoulder, her body curved into his like they had always belonged there. His other arm was draped protectively around her, his grip loose but present, like even in sleep, he didn’t want to let go.Charles was still asleep. His face wa

  • My Darling Superstar   Something Real

The sky had deepened into a velvet navy by the time Charles and Emily were back on the road. The windows were down, letting in the cool night air, and the stars blinked faintly above them. The beach still clung to their skin—salt in their hair, sand between their toes—but neither of them seemed to mind.Emily leaned her head against the window, her eyes half-closed, a soft smile still playing on her lips. Charles glanced at her now and then, his hand steady on the wheel, the silence between them warm and full.Then—Thump.Thump-thump-thump.The car jolted slightly.Charles’s brows furrowed. He slowed down, pulled to the side of the road, and stepped out to check.Emily sat up straighter. “What happened?”He returned a moment later, brushing his hands on his jeans. “Flat tire.”She blinked. “You don’t have a spare?”“I do,” he said, glancing down the dark road. “But I’m not changing it in the middle of nowhere at night. Not with you here. It’s not safe.”Of course, she understood what

  • My Darling Superstar   Alive Again

Emily stood barefoot beside the car, the warm sand curling between her toes. The salty breeze tousled her hair as she looked out at the endless blue, her eyes wide with wonder. She inhaled deeply, the scent of the ocean wrapping around her like a memory. Then she turned to Charles. He stood there, hands in his pockets, watching her with that unreadable expression—half amusement, half something deeper.Without warning, Emily stepped closer. So close that their shoulders brushed. And then—on her toes—she leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to his cheek.A whisper of warmth.A spark. Before he could react, she was already pulling away, her eyes gleaming with mischief.“Yeahhh!” she shouted, throwing her hands in the air like a child set free. She ran toward the water, her laughter echoing across the shore, her hair flying behind her like a banner of joy. The hem of her dress fluttered around her knees as she splashed into the shallows, spinning once, arms wide, face tilted to the sun.Char

  • My Darling Superstar   The Detour

The morning light spilled gently through the hospital window, casting a soft glow across the room. Emily sat upright in bed, her eyes fixed on the television screen mounted on the wall. The news anchor’s voice was steady, but the footage was anything but calm.Mayor Steffan, once the untouchable pillar of the city, was being led away in handcuffs.Emily watched in stunned silence as the man who had once stood beside her father, who had smiled for cameras and shaken hands with the powerful, now shouted into a sea of microphones and flashing lights.“Please… don’t let history write lies about me. Look into my heart. Look into your own. I swear I have never betrayed you. I only ever tried to serve.”The screen cut to a panel of analysts, but Emily wasn’t listening anymore. Her heart was racing. Her fingers trembled slightly around the remote. She didn’t know if it was justice or tragedy. She didn’t know whether to feel relief or fear. And then—The door opened. She turned.Charles stood

After the flurry of remote mishaps and cheek-burning TV scenes, the room settled into a gentler hush. The warm lighting painted soft edges on the hospital walls as Emily curled beside Charles beneath the blanket. She tilted her head playfully and whispered, “What about… a game?”Charles didn’t lift his gaze from the pages of the book. “Sounds boring.”“Hmmm,” she said, feigning dramatic suspense. “I ask you a question, you answer. You ask me, I answer. Simple. Honest. No dodging.”He flipped another page, unconvinced. “Not interested.”Emily scooted closer. “Well, I’m very interested in yours.”That earned her a glance—a slow, calculated look.Charles smirked. “Emily Greyson, you better fall in line if you want to know my life. Don’t you know there’s a sea of women out there who'd sell their souls for a peek inside this mind?”The sarcasm was heavy, but she grinned.“Please…” she whispered. “Please?”He turned back, caught the pleading sparkle in her eyes—lashes impossibly long, gaze
