****Devlin's POV*****

With a quick swing of my sword, Cedric collapsed to the ground. I smirked, turning to face a panting Ava.

She had chosen to side with Cedric—a rogue—over her own people. How pathetic.

“You know, Ava… I thought you'd stay far away after you escaped, but like a rat, you came crawling back,” I snarled, pacing around her with measured steps, my sword dripping.

Ava stood up, one hand clenched into a fist, the other pressing against her bleeding stomach. “You disgust me, Devlin! How could you side with Anthony, of all people?” she spat, her glare sharp as blades.

I chuckled coldly, gripping my sword tighter. “You’re just bitter you were tossed aside. Did you really expect mercy after double-crossing the Council?”

Ava shook her head, her voice trembling with rage. “The Council is rotten! Oppressing rogues for centuries because of outdated, cowardly prejudice!”

She took a step forward, her eyes burning into mine. “Of all people, you shouldn’t be the one standing against

*****EMMELINE'S POV*****My heart thundered in my chest as I stared at him. It couldn’t be. How could my father be here?I had watched him get stabbed to death. I saw the blood, the stillness, the life leave his eyes.Maybe this was one of Juliet’s sick tricks again. Another illusion meant to break me.“Oh, my Emmeline… it’s good to finally see you again,” my father said, his voice thick with emotion—relief, happiness, sadness, and love all wrapped into one trembling sentence.“Is this a dream?” I whispered, pinching my arm.Pain shot through my body, sharp and real. I hugged myself tightly. This couldn’t be real. It felt too good to be true.Had Elara’s hit done more damage than I thought? Was I hallucinating now?The mattress shifted as he sat beside me, his hand gently patting my shoulder.“It’s okay… it’s really me,” he said in that same soft voice he used to calm me during storms when I was little. My chest ached as I looked at him, disbelief burning behind my tears.“I watched

******EMMELINE'S POV****“I can’t… I can’t go on…” I cried out, collapsing to the ground with a heavy thud.Ava’s guard gritted his teeth. “We need to leave Elton today.”I shook my head, panting hard. “No… no…” I gasped, spreading out on the grass. We had been running since last night, and the sun was already high in the sky.My legs couldn’t carry me anymore. With a sigh, Ava’s guard sat across from me, exhaustion written all over him.Silence fell between us—only the frantic beat of our hearts and the chirping of birds filled the air.“What do you think happened to them?” I whispered, breaking the silence. He only shrugged, expression indifferent. “They’re possibly dead.”But despite his tone, I caught the shimmer of unshed tears in his eyes and the way his face tightened with fear. What was his real connection to Ava?I shook my head. “I doubt it… I can still feel the bond between Cedric and me. It's faint, but it’s there.”He gave me a sad smile. “But Ava wouldn’t survive it. Tha

*****EMMELINE'S POV*****My eyes fluttered open slowly, every breath shallow and my body aching as I tried to orient myself. The room was dim, moonlight streaming faintly through the curtains—Kareena’s room. I was strapped to the bed.Panic surged in my chest. My baby.My hands trembled as I reached for my stomach, dread sinking into my bones.“The baby is safe,” a calm voice said, pulling my attention sharply to the corner.Grace.She sat at the edge of the bed, her face somber, “We got to you in time. The poison didn’t reach the womb.”I tried to sit up, but the weakness was unbearable. My limbs felt like stone.“Don’t move,” she said gently. “You lost a lot of blood, Emmeline. You need to rest.”I fought the fog in my mind. “It… it was Elara,” I rasped. “She knew. She knew about the baby. She poisoned me.”Grace’s eyes darkened, her jaw tightening. “I know. I saw it in a vision… but by the time I understood what it meant, it was already too late.”A bitter chill settled in my chest

*****CEDRIC POV******It’s been two days since my arrival in Zanzi. The people here have been quite hospitable—unlike the stories we were told.I wouldn’t be surprised if the Council made up those tales to keep us trapped in Elton, forcing us to endure their vicious oppression.Ava had returned to Elton immediately after making sure I arrived safely in Zanzi, so there were no answers to satisfy my burning curiosity.“Here,” Mario offered me a piece of roasted beef.I turned it down—I didn’t really have an appetite.“When will Ava return?” I asked, watching him stuff food into his mouth. He shrugged. “I don’t know. She needs to bring back more supplies.”I frowned, raising a questioning brow. “Supplies?”“The tribal chief ensures everything runs in an orderly fashion. Everyone is responsible for themselves, unless they’re handicapped. So Ava has to bring supplies for the three of us while I stay here to protect you,” Mario explained.I could only sigh. It was a strange rule, but if it

*****EMMELINE'S POV***** I clenched my fist as I drank the cup of tea Elara had served earlier. It had been two days with no news on Cedric’s whereabouts. The pack was in utter chaos. “Any information?” I asked the moment Marci stepped into the room. He sighed just as Grace entered and quietly shut the door behind her. “The word going around is that Cedric was supposed to be stoned to death in the courtyard—but he escaped,” Marci said, rubbing his temples. “At least he’s alive… wherever he is, right?” I murmured, rubbing my stomach in worry. “I believe he is,” Grace replied firmly, drawing a dagger from beneath her cloak, causing my brows to furrow. “Take it. You might need it soon,” she said quietly, placing the weapon in my right hand before leaving without another word. I glanced at Marci, confused. “What’s happening?” He stepped closer, lowering his voice to a whisper. “Lord Cedric has been framed and exiled. It won’t be long before the Council moves to overtake the pack,
