Chapter 2

Nathan's eyes narrowed and he quickly said, "

"Do everything you can to save the baby, and everything you can also to make sure the mother is safe too. I'll soon be there."

He hung up without a second thought and threw the divorce papers at Elena.

"Just sign it and leave it here. Make sure you're gone before I come back." With that, he slammed the door in Elena 's face, got into his car and drove away.

Elena held tightly the divorce papers as she watched his car disappear from her sight, feeling like every last piece of hope in her heart had turned to ashes. Was there no way to save this marriage? He didn't even read the agreement.

Is there really any need to save this marriage? She thought. She didn't even bother to read through the divorce agreement, she quickly signed it, packed some clothes into a large suitcase, and quietly walked downstairs.

The housekeeper, Clara, was surprised to see her coming downstairs with a large suitcase so late at night. "Madam, are you going on a trip?”

Elena remembered Nathan's words and replied. "Clara Don't call me madam anymore just call me Ms Elena."

Since Nathan never wanted her as his wife and she no longer wanted to be his wife either.

Clara stood there speechless. She didn't know what had happened between them, but she heard their argument earlier and was not in her place to ask any questions.

Elena removed her necklace from her neck and gave it to Clara. This necklace is worth thousands of dollars. Take it and use the money for your needs.”

"I can't accept this valuable ma."

"It's okay," Elena said as she placed the necklace in Clara's hands.

Clara's eyes lit up. "Thank you so much ma."

The necklace was a gift from Nathan when they got married. The necklace felt like another reminder of Nathan and how sad he treated her. Elena had cherished it and worn it all these years. Now that their marriage was over, she had no reason to hold it anymore.

Thirty minutes later, Elena spotted Daniel, who had come to pick her up.

Daniel seeing how pale she looked not properly dressed for the cold, quickly took off his coat and wrapped it around her shoulders. "Okay, let me take you home first and then we'll talk about everything later.”

They arrived at Daniel's house. After hearing everything that had happened, Daniel was furious.

"I can't believe he did that to you, didn't he know that you're pregnant?"

"He didn't know,” I replied.

Daniel looked at her in shock. "Why?”

"I almost told him. That's when he told me Aurora's pregnant. And he wants out of our marriage. I didn't say a word after that. I couldn't.

He doesn't deserve to know anymore.”

She sank into the chair, lowered her gaze as her lower lip trembled. "I've finally understood it. A marriage without love is empty, even if you use a child to hold it together.”

"Before I was hopeful believing that even the hardest heart could gradually soften with enough love and care. But now I understand, he's not someone who can be changed by warmth, he's cold steel and cold steel will never bend to it, no matter how hard you try."

"So, brother, I don't want to keep forcing things with Nathan anymore, and I ask that you also just leave it. I've made peace with the fact that Nathan will never love me."

"Nathan doesn't deserve you, and clearly he can't see that. But not to worry, I'm not leaving you to face this alone. When the baby comes. I'll be there for both of you."

Elena smiled, touched by his kind words.

"What are you planning to do next? I can help you secure a job"

"Thanks, but honestly? I don't think I can do that here. And I don't need mum and dad to know about the divorce. They will try to talk me into going back to Nathan. They will know after I leave."

Daniel tilted his head in confusion. "Leave? What do you mean?”

“I want to move abroad. I have some money saved in my account. I planned to use the money to continue my studies abroad and raise my child there.”

“Great idea, going abroad is the best choice. It would keep her far away from Nathan, and give you a chance to heal without being hurt by him again.”

So, they agreed to book their plane tickets and leave that week.

Elena stayed at Daniel's apartment. Unexpectedly, in the middle of the night, she woke up to the sound of a loud "clink!”

She quickly jumped out of bed and rushed into the living room, to check what was that, only to find five masked men dressed in black standing there.

She was terrified and screamed, instinctively tried to run, but the next second, a cloth was pressed over her nose from behind. She smelled a strange smell and within seconds, she didn't know anything else.

They were taken onto a cruise ship. The men removed Elena and Daniel's clothes and captured several compromising photos of them together.

After sending the photos to the person who hired them, they called and asked, "what should we do with them?"

The person replied. "Throw them into the ocean to feed the fish. But make it appear like it was an accident, do you understand?"

"We understand, we'll take care of it right away."

After the cruise ship had been sailing for some time, it suddenly collided with a massive rock. Then seawater began flooding in through the enormous breach.

Elena became conscious as seawater began choking her. She looked around at the water rushing in from every direction, feeling terrified, and aggressively shook Daniel awake.

She also spotted a speedboat not far away and frantically waved her arms.

"Hey! Help us!”

But instead of responding, she heard the men's cruel laughter.

"Ms Elena this is a gift from Mr Hudson no need to thank us."

Elena trembled violently. Was this an order from Nathan?
