Chapter Four
Raffael ~~~ I looked at her in disbelief. She had just slapped me for saying the kiss was a mistake. I took a deep breath. “Look, I don’t know how those pictures and videos got out.” “I don’t want to hear any of that. Get rid of them before tomorrow. Grandpa shouldn’t find out about it.” She said then went to the bathroom to freshen up. She was right. I picked up my phone and called Tori. “Have you seen the news?” I asked. “Yes, the media is brutal, the headlines are crazy.” “That’s not what this is about. I don’t think we should see each other for now.” “But-” She tried to complain. I interrupted her. “But nothing. I’ll call you when everything dies down.” I let out before hanging up the phone. One of the guards called me and told me there were reporters outside the gate. I looked at the CCTV and sure enough, there were many reporters outside the gate. I ordered the guards to get rid of them and send them away. I was about to go to the office. I didn’t move around with security but I had to. I got to the office and there was the same number of reporters outside. They blocked the entrances so I had a hard time reaching the underground parking. I had to just come down at the main gate. I stepped out of the car and the reporters flashed their cameras at me asking different questions. “Are you Camilla getting divorced?” “Are you getting back together with your ex-girlfriend?” “There’s trouble in paradise right?” I ignored the questions as I moved through them with my security blocking them from getting to me. I went up to my office. “How’s it going?” “It’s not good. I was able to remove the articles and delete the pictures but people are still talking about it.” I leaned back in my chair taking deep breaths at intervals. “And sir, the shareholders are requesting a meeting. Stocks are dropping overnight.” “What!” I shot up from my seat. “This is bad.” “The PR team wants to hold a press conference so you can address the rumors.” I didn’t want to address anything because they weren’t rumors. We were actually getting divorced. “You’re meeting with the shareholders by 10am tomorrow.” “I’ve heard. You can go now.” I waved him off. I did some work in the office. Making calls to some of the younger shareholders and assuring them that they shouldn’t worry. Tomorrow was going to be brutal. Those shareholders were not nice. I went back home but I didn’t sleep in the same room as Camilla. I slept in one of the guest rooms I always slept in whenever we fought. The next morning, I got ready to go to the office. When I got downstairs to have breakfast, Camilla was already there having her breakfast. “Good morning,” I said as I sat down. She didn’t give me a reply and continued eating her food. One of the staff brought my food for me and I started eating too. She was almost down with her food when she said, “Grandpa called, he wants us to go to his house after you meet with the shareholders.” “How did you know I have a meeting with the shareholders?” She didn’t give me a reply and went back to her food. The chairman must have found out about what was going on. I quickly finished my food and got in the car. The drive was long and quiet and I spent my time reading through some documents: We got to the office in no time and I got ready for my meeting. By 10, all the shareholders were already sitting waiting for me. I walked into the room and the meeting commenced. The older shareholders had a lot to say about what was going on on the news. The news that I and Camilla were getting a divorce was affecting the value of our stocks badly. I knew this would happen if we announced we were getting divorced. After all, her grandfather was the reason our company was able to bounce back after almost going bankrupt. They believed that if we were getting divorced, her grandfather would pull out all his investments and sell his shares. As one of the biggest companies in the city of Newyork, everyone was sucking up to him. I assured them that I would clear everything up at the press conference next week and that the pictures were fake and AI-generated. They didn’t fully trust me but with the help of some people who were on my side, I was able to convince them. After the meeting ended, I stopped by the house to pick Camilla up to go to the chairman’s house. We got to his house and exited the car. “Don’t tell him you gave me divorce papers. He shouldn’t even know that you thought about getting divorced. Tell him you’re going to make everything right at the press conference.” She said as we were walking to the main door. She still wasn’t thinking about signing the papers. I needed this divorce to go smoothly but I fucked it up by allowing those pictures and videos to hit the internet. I shouldn’t have met with Tori that night. I should have gone through with the divorce first before doing anything else.EPILOGUE TWO YEARS LATERCamilla’s POVI’d been really busy the past few weeks, juggling work and preparations for I and Raphael’s anniversary celebration. I didn’t even have time to breathe properly because I had to make sure everything was perfect. It was also the launch of a new product. Raphael was also finishing up the commission of the new city hall. The past two years have been unarguably the best years of our lives. From saying yes to each other forever to flourishing in all aspects of our lives. We were happier than we’ve ever been before. It was the morning of our anniversary celebration and Raphael was out. The house was full with workers. I, Skye and the kids decided to go and check the venue out to make sure everything was in order.“Mummy, can we stop for ice cream first?” Rory asked.“On our way back, baby.” I answered. We got to the venue and they immediately started running around. After checking everything out and making sure that everything was in order, we headed
Chapter One Hundred and Fifty SevenCamilla’s POVIt was finally time for our actual wedding ceremony. I was nervous to say the least. I was going to be walking down the aisle for the second time to meet the same person. What if I was doing the wrong thing again?“It’s going to be okay.” Skye assured. “Take a deep breath.”I did as she instructed. “It is going to be okay.” I looked at my reflection in the mirror.“Are you ready?” She asked.“Yes, yes I am. Let’s do this. Let’s get married.”“I’ll be out there waiting for you.” She kissed me on the cheek and left the room.My grandpa came in after. I could tell he was holding tears in. I went to give him a hug.“You look beautiful, my darling.” He said.“Thanks, Grandpa.”“Im really proud of you, you know.” He said. “Yiure one of the strongest people I know. I love you.” He said.“I love you too.”“Let’s do this.” He stretched his hand out. I took it and we walked out of the room. We stood behind the big doors waiting for them to be o
Chapter One Hundred and Fifty Six3 MONTHS LATERCamilla’s POVThe past few weeks were a little bit hectic. A mix of work, wedding planning and a lot of other things. The wedding was in four days and we could finally take a break. We didn’t want to have our wedding in New York. We both agreed on a destination wedding. There wasn’t going to be a crowd, it was only a few people invited. We were going to Monaco for both the civil and church wedding. We were to leave later that evening for our flight. Martha took over my packing, she wanted me to rest for a bit. I decided to take a walk around the compound for a few minutes. In about four days, I would no longer bear the surname Brown. I prayed that our marriage this time would be nothing like the last. We had both grown into better and new people over the years. I went back into the house and Martha was done packing. I went to get ready to leave for the airport. After I was done, they loaded all the suitcases into the car. Martha, Skye,
Chapter One Hundred and Fifty Five Camilla’s POVMy purse and phone were taken from me by Skye. I was still in shock and awe. I looked over to my grandpa. He had a very big smile on his face. He nodded to Raphael, hinting at me to walk to him. I went to where Raphael stood, inside a circle of rose petals. I wasn’t expecting this at all. Sure, we had talked about getting married again but I didn’t think it would happen this soon. I wasn’t complaining though. He held my hands. “Camilla.” He started. I didn’t want the tears to come out just yet. “I never thought we would find ourselves here again, but life has a way of going around things. You’ve been my biggest blessing and I'm super honoured and proud to call you mine.”“Raphael.” He really wanted to make me cry.“We still have a long way to go. The thought of spending forever with you makes me believe that life is worth living. I have so much to say but im going to save that for when you officially become my wife.” He reached behind
Chapter One Hundred and Fifty Four Camilla’s POV I’d spend time with Rory, Raphael and Jason during the day. It was their school's Christmas carol. I had to go into work in the evening to finish up some work and officially start my break. It was a much needed vacation which we had been planning for a while now. I worked until it was late at night and then I headed back home. I freshened up and then I had dinner. I was about to call Raphael but he already beat me to it. “Are you home?” He asked when I picked up the phone. “Yeah, I was just about to call you.” I said. I got into bed and we talked for a long time. It had become a daily ritual. We made it a habit to talk to each other at the end of the day. I didn’t know how it happened but I fell asleep on the call. When I woke up the next morning, I checked my phone and saw that Raphael had sent me a message the previous night. It was enough to make me smile and think that it would be a good day. I had a lot of things planned fo
Chapter One Hundred and Fifty ThreeRaphael’s POVTHREE MONTHS LATERA few weeks had passed since the kidnapping incident. It was safe to say that Jason and Rory had gotten over the incident. They still had occasional nightmares but it was nothing too serious. Camilla had resumed her work as CEO, her wrist was as good as new. I’d also asked her officially to be my girlfriend. I didn’t want to keep moving around without a label. We had received a call earlier that Isaiah had gotten into a fight in prison and died. The trial was a few days away from starting when that happened. I didn’t know how to feel about that news. He basically made my and my loved ones' lives a living hell but on the other hand, we shared part of the same blood. Our chapter with him was closed after that incident. They still investigated his death to rule out any type of foul play.Things were going good in our lives. Camilla and I were in a really good place and the kids were doing so much better. We were planni
