LOGINEmily’s POV
“Good morning, everyone,” I greeted, a cheerful lilt to my voice as I entered the office. My three office mates were already at work and it seemed they'd been having a conversation prior to my arrival. “Good morning, Emily,” They greeted in unison, as they gazed at me with pity, which made me inhale sharply. Three days had passed since Abigail got married to Joe, and apparently, everyone at Coleman now knew that I got played by my ex and ex best friend. And for that reason, my coworkers had been giving me sympathetic stares, and often spoke in muffled tones around me, and I hated that so much because it made me feel small and pathetic. I didn't want anyone to pity me but no one seemed to understand that. “You know, you don't have to come to work, right?” Kushi began. “We can help you with your work until you're emotionally fit to resume.” Squeezing my eyes shut, I exhaled heavily before opening my eyes again. “I really appreciate that you three are looking out for me, but I'm fine,” I said. “I don't need anyone babying me or treating me like I'm suicidal or something. As a matter of fact, can we stop focusing on my personal life?” The three of them exchanged puzzled glances among themselves before averting their gazes to me and nodding, which made me sigh in relief. “We were only looking out for you,” Kushi said. “While I appreciate the gesture, it's really suffocating and frustrating, you know,” I said. “I can't go anywhere in this building without having people treat me like some damsel in distress, which I'm clearly not.” “Yes, we know that. But don't hesitate to reach out if you need someone to vent to, alright?” Sarah uttered. Nodding, I replied, “I won't, thank you. You guys are the best.” “We know that,” Nathan replied with a cocky smile, to which I scoffed before going to my corner. I had never flared up at them before, but I just couldn't stand being treated like glass anymore. Sure, I'd been betrayed by two of the people who were once dear to me and all, but I just wanted to move on and their sympathy wasn't helping matters at all. In all honesty, I wasn't even heartbroken anymore. That feeling had now been replaced with vitriolic fury and hatred toward Abigail and Joe. I didn't want to even hear their names or anything that would make me think of them. Hell, I had blocked both their numbers, and had also unfollowed and blocked Abigail on every single social media platform. For all I cared, they were both as good as dead to me now. I was switching on my computer when my phone vibrated with a text message, which I knew was from Janine even before I checked it. “Hi, babes. I hope you have a great day at work today. Don't forget to call or text me if things get too hard. Love you always.” While I could easily get my office mates off my back, the same thing couldn't be said for Janine. Every single attempt of mine to get her to stop babying me had proven futile, so now, I had no option but to let her coddle me as much as she wanted. But at least, having one overprotective person in my life was way better than having several. “Thanks, babes. And I won't forget to call if I need to. Love you too.” I replied, before placing my phone on my desk, so I could work. “Emily,” Kushi called, as I made some final edits to the excel sheet I'd created. “Yes?” I responded, steering my attention to her. I was surprised to see her standing at the door with Nathan and Sarah. “Wait, is it time for lunch already?” I asked, looking at the clock on my desk. The time was currently fifteen minutes past one. I couldn't believe that I'd been so absorbed in my work, that I didn't realize how fast time had flown by. “Yes, ma'am,” Nathan replied. “Would you like to get anything from the canteen?” Digging into my bag for money, I nodded, “Yes, I want curry rice with chicken and a bottle of water.” “Okay,” Kushi replied. “Don't bother with the money, Emily. Just take it as a kind gesture from us,” Sarah said, as I stood up to give them money. “Really?” I asked, overwhelmed with appreciation. “Yes, it's nothing much, but we still want to help you, babe,” Kushi replied. “We have to go now, lunch break is ending in like twenty minutes.” And with that, they left while I stood in the middle of the office, with a smile creasing my lips. My colleagues were true gems. Just before I could head back to my corner, a knock came on the door. “Come in,” I said, and the door creaked open, to reveal Donovan in his majestic glory. His right hand was pocketed while he held a piece of paperwork with the other. Right, he'd also been at Abigail and Joe's wedding, and I still had a standing case about the lingerie pictures with him. Although I didn't want to, I couldn't help but wonder how he knew either of them. “Good day, sir,” I greeted. “Do you need something?” “Do you need me to fuck the heartbreak out of you before you do your job properly?” Donovan asked, and both my eyes and mouth widened in shock. What the hell did he just say to me, and why did it make my pussy throb? “Here,” He motioned to the paperwork in his hold, one that I sent to him yesterday. “April comes after what month, Emily?” “March,” I muttered, looking at the error I'd made. In the paperwork, April had come after May. To be honest, I had no idea how I'd failed to see my mistake before sending it to him. “I'm sorry, sir,” I replied. “But that shouldn't give you the permission to utter such nasty words to me.” Chuckling, Donovan advanced toward me, and I moved backward, my eyes fixated on his, until my back met with my desk. “Are we forgetting who sent a nearly naked picture of herself to me?” He asked, and instead of being scared, my heart fluttered with lust as I gazed at his grey eyes. God, Donovan was the embodiment of perfection, and us being in such close proximity, was making me lose every iota of my logic. I badly wanted him to close the mere inches between us with a kiss. What was wrong with me? Was I ovulating or what? How could my initial fear turn into ferocious arousal at his lewd utterance? Wasn't I supposed to get offended by it? “I-It was a mistake,” I stuttered out. “You know that.” Damn, his hands weren't even on me, and I had already lost my sense of reasoning. His heavenly scent of spicy cedarwood tinged with bourbon and mint, also did little to alleviate the erotic hunger simmering within me. I couldn't help but inhale lungfuls of his cologne, as if my life depended on it. “Do I?” He teased, a smug smile curving his lips. “Y-Yes,” I nodded, my gaze fixated on his inviting pink lips. Hell, I could already imagine how wonderful it'd feel to have them on my two sets of lips. “I saw you at my brother's wedding and couldn't stop thinking about how hot your anger was,” Donovan continued, taking me aback. Donovan was Joe's brother? So, Joe had a brother all this while and he never mentioned him to me. However, my horniness overpowered my shock, as I wanted nothing more but Donovan's hands on my body. I wasn't in the right state of mind at that moment, but I couldn't care less. The fact that he'd found my anger hot turned me on even more. Donovan was insane but blunt, and it was the hottest thing I'd ever seen in my life. Before I could respond, he stepped back with a smug look. “Rectify the error and resend the file to me,” He said. “Have a nice day, Emily.” Thereafter, he left, and I stood there, mouth parted in astonishment, with my pussy yearning for his touch.Donovan’s POV Sliding my hands into my pocket, I rested my gaze on the city view from my office window, my thoughts straying to yesterday. When I'd ruined things even more by confessing abruptly to Emily. The fact that she'd told me she was trying to get over me had made me utter those words, without even stopping to think whether the moment was right or not.And as if that wasn't enough, I had cornily asked her to give us a second chance.“Fuck,” I muttered, running my hand through my hair roughly. But then again, it wasn't as if I was completely in the wrong. What else could I have told her to calm her but the truth? And that same truth had made her rush out of my office like she'd encountered a demon. What the hell was I supposed to even do now?Perhaps I should have ran after her instead of letting her leave because I wanted to give her space.Former me would have never thought of doing that.Hell, I'd have ran after her demanding an answer, and now that I thought of it, Emily ha
Emily’s POV My heart scudded in trepidation as I made my way out of the elevator, the unhinged thoughts and emotions assailing my mind neverending.Donovan, the man who I'd nearly lost my mind over thinking I had no chance with, also loved me.And according to him, he had loved me for a while now.Yet I had been so stupid that I'd ran out of his office instead of sitting down with him, so we could have a proper conversation like adults.“Why do you look like you saw a ghost?” Sarah's voice wafted into my ears, jerking me out of my reverie.Only then did I realize that I'd been so deep in thoughts that I didn't realize when I entered the office. All three of my officemates were now staring at me as though I'd grown horns.“I-I'm not feeling too well, so I have to leave early,” I fibbed. “You guys can have my lunch.”“Oh,” Sarah said, moving closer to palm my forehead. “Your temperature is normal but you're sweating profusely. Don't worry, I'll inform Pamela about your condition. Just
Emily’s POV “I'm done with the sales memo, ma'am,’’ I told Pamela, as she reclined against her chair with a huge exhale.“What will I do without you, Emily?” She sighed, sitting up. “You're such a great help to me honestly. You know what, lunch is on me today.”Presently, I was in her office, doing her work for her as usual.“Really?” I asked, utterly surprised.Clearly, Pamela had woken up on the right side of the bed.For the past five months that I'd been working here, she had never offered to buy me lunch, even though I did literally all her work for her.So it was quite strange.“Yes, what’s with the shocked face?” Pamela huffed. “What do you want to eat? I'm placing an order right now.”“I want curry rice with chicken,” I replied. “Thanks, ma'am.”“You are welcome. What drink will you like to have?” “Malt drink, ma'am,” I said, to which she hummed and nodded, while I stared at her, inwardly wondering what could have really brought up such change.“So,” Pamela began, placing do
Donovan’s POV The minute I stepped into my Maserati, my phone vibrated with a call from Carlos.Switching on the ignition, I connected the phone to the car's Bluetooth before answering the call.“Good morning, sir. I've gotten the information you requested for,” He divulged, and a smile curved my lips.“Really?”“Yes, sir,” He replied. “Should I have it printed and on your table before you come in?”“Are you with it right now?” I inquired, swerving my car toward the left part of the road, that led to my company.“Yes, sir.”“Good, now read it to me,” I ordered. “And don't leave anything out.”“Alright, sir,” Carlos said. “Miss Emily was born Emily Jasmine Wright on September 13th 2001, sir.”Which meant she will be twenty four in five months, I thought, as I started racking my brain on what sort of gift would be great for her.But then again, there was still a long time till then.“She became an orphan eight years ago after her parents died in a house explosion,” He continued. “Miss
Emily’s POV “Thanks,” I told the salesgirl as she handed me my cup of matcha tea.I had decided to try something other than coffee today.“Hi, you,” A certain masculine voice, one which I was gradually growing accustomed to, wafted into my ears from beside me.Smiling, I tilted my head sideways to face him, “Hey, Oscar.”“Matcha tea?” He frowned, staring at the cup in my hand. “Is this for you or someone else?”“It's mine. I just decided to go for a change today,” I shrugged, as he collected his cup of iced coffee from the salesgirl.“That's cool,” He nodded, glancing down at his wristwatch. “We have about twenty five minutes before work starts. How about we spend some time here?”“I'm down with it,” I shrugged again.“Do you want to sit at the table beside the window? It seems quite cozy,” Oscar said.“It sure does, let's take it,” I nodded, before we both walked to said table. My face scrunched up in distaste as I took a sip of the matcha tea. It tasted nothing like I'd thought it
Donovan’s POV I was beside myself with anger as I watched Emily smile at something Oscar must have said.“Mr Coleman,” One of the shareholders in my company, Mr Dalton, called, prompting me to reluctantly look away from them.I was currently having dinner with the major shareholders of Coleman group to celebrate a deal we'd successfully closed yesterday. However, I had lost focus on the dinner the moment Emily walked in with Oscar.“Yes?” I responded.“Let's cheer for the success of the deal,” He said, raising his wine goblet and the rest did the same.Grabbing my goblet of champagne, I said, “To more successful deals closing.”“Cheers,” The shareholders chorused before sipping the alcohol while I downed mine in one sharp gulp, my gaze once again fixated on those two.Two nights ago, I had made Emily speak to Oscar over the phone while I rearranged her guts with my cock, and tonight, she was out on a date with him.How fucking unbelievable.Emily was putting up a stellar performance
