Carmen's POV

I kissed him back with fervour while having my hand on the back of his neck to pull him into me. My mouth was on his like it was the only thing I had been thinking about for the last hour. There was no pause and no performance and the kiss was deep and hungry and nothing like the ones at the bar. Those had been for the room. This one was just for us.

His hand slid around my waist and the sound he made against my mouth was low and rough and I felt it in my chest. The partition was already up, dark glass sealing us off from everything, and the rest of Madrid could have disappeared and I would not have noticed.

I climbed into his lap. My dress rode up my thighs and his hands were on my hips instantly, fingers pressing hard enough to send heat rushing through my stomach. I could feel him getting harder underneath me with every movement and I rolled my hips against him deliberately and he groaned into my mouth while his grip tightened on me like a reflex.

"Careful," he murmured.

"You seem pretty calm to me."

He laughed and the sound was wrecked. "I am trying very hard to behave right now."

I rolled my hips again, slower this time, pressing down against his arousal through his trousers, and his head dropped back against the seat. His jaw clenched and a sound left him that was pure desperation. His hands moved to my waist and gripped hard, pulled me down against him and held me there, both of us grinding slow and deliberate, the friction building between us through layers of fabric that suddenly felt unbearable.

Russell had spent months making me feel forgettable. Too plain. Too ordinary to obsess over. This man was hard underneath me and losing his composure one breath at a time because I moved my hips.

I pressed down harder and his eyes closed. He swore quietly and his hips lifted to meet mine, and for a moment we were just moving together in the dark back seat, grinding against each other like two people who couldn't wait long enough to get inside. His breathing was ragged and his hands were everywhere; my waist, my hips, my thighs, pulling me closer, pressing me down, and every time I found the right angle he made a sound that sent heat flooding through me.

"Patience, my lady," he managed, catching my hips and slowing me down. His voice was shaking. He lifted my hand to his mouth and pressed his lips against my knuckles.

"I don't want patience."

"I know." His forehead rested against mine. "You have no idea what you're doing to me right now."

"I can feel exactly what I'm doing to you."

He exhaled a rough laugh. His thumb traced my bottom lip and he watched my mouth.

"When we get upstairs," he said, voice low, "I'm carrying you through that door. I've been thinking about picking you up since you turned around on that bar stool."

"And then?"

"Then I'm taking that dress off you. So slowly you'll beg me to go faster."

I felt my thighs tighten around him and he noticed instantly. He brought his hands to my things and moved them away so I could no longer tighten them around him.

“Don’t press those thighs together, keep them open for me baby” he teased.

“What are you going to do once we get upstairs?” I asked, desperate to hear all that he would do to me.

"I’m going to fuck you until the only thing you can think of is my dick inside of you, just like you requested earlier”I let out a low gasp and leaned closer. My breathing was ragged.

“And trust me, I’m going to make you come so hard that no man could ever match up to my pace”

The arrogance! This man is something else.

I kissed him because I didn't know what else to do with what was building inside me and his mouth was hot and desperate against mine and his hands were in my hair and I was grinding against him again, unable to stop, the heat between us unbearable now. His hips moved with mine and his breathing was ragged as he groaned into my mouth, the sound vibrating through my entire body.

"Gosh, I need you inside me already!"

He smiled and brought his hand to my chin. "Calm down, Querida. I will do that soon."

The moment the car stopped, he gently lifted me up from his laps and put me on the seat, got out and held his hand out for me.

The lobby was polished stone and soft lighting but I registered none of it because his hand was on my lower back the whole way to the lift. The doors closed and he pulled me against him and kissed me hard enough to press my back into the mirrored wall. I caught our reflection, lips swollen, dress hiked up, his hands in my hair. I looked like a woman being completely taken apart by a man who couldn't keep his hands off her.

He pulled back with his forehead against mine, both of us breathing hard.

"You are making it very difficult for me to take my time tonight."

"Maybe I don't want you taking your time."

His jaw tightened. When he looked at me again there was nothing left in his face except hunger.

The lift opened into his penthouse. City lights through wide windows, Madrid spread out below. I had two seconds to register any of it before he bent and lifted me into his arms, bridal style, exactly as he had promised.

A surprised laugh left me and I wrapped my arms around his neck.

"You actually meant it."

"I meant every word," he said, and his voice was rough, like he had finally reached the end of what his restraint could hold.

He carried me down the hall and set me on the edge of his bed. He pulled his shirt over his head and I saw his body for the first time. The athlete's build was better uncovered than anything I had imagined. Defined chest, broad shoulders, narrow waist, stomach flat and cut, skin warm golden brown in the low light. My goodness, I want to fuck this guy immediately!

I put my hands on his stomach and felt the muscle tighten. I ran my palms up his chest and a sound left him, quiet and involuntary, and his hand came into my hair.

"Turn around," he said.

I turned. His fingers found the zip and he pulled it down slowly, kissing each inch of skin as it was revealed, my shoulder blade, the centre of my back, the base of my spine. He eased the dress off and I heard him exhale behind me, long and shaky.

He turned me around and looked at me and his expression was raw and open, every trace of composure gone, replaced by hunger and something close to reverence.

"God," he whispered.

I pulled him down to me.

  • My Ex's Football Rival Wants Me   73: Tuscany

Carmen's POVMonday arrived faster than I expected, the way departure dates always seem to once you've actually agreed to something.I spent the morning finishing a load of laundry I should have started days earlier, folding sundresses I hadn't worn since before university consumed my entire wardrobe in shades of black and grey. Antonia sent three separate messages demanding photo evidence once I landed, and Elena called just to ask, twice, whether I had packed sunscreen, as though I hadn't spent my whole life in a country that received roughly the same amount of sun as Tuscany did.The flight to Florence was short and unremarkable, the kind of flight where you barely settle into your seat before the descent begins. I spent most of it half asleep against the window, waking somewhere over the Alps to a view worth the interruption and drifting off again before we'd finished crossing it. Jennifer had arranged a car at the airport, a driver holding a small sign with my name on it who load

  • My Ex's Football Rival Wants Me   72: Back in Madrid

Carmen's POVAndre's note had acquired two new creases by the time my flight landed in Madrid. I noticed it when I reached into my handbag for my passport and pulled the card out with it. Somewhere between the airport, the security line and the flight home, I had apparently been opening it often enough to soften the fold down the middle.I had to put it away before I could read it again.Madrid met me with dry heat, traffic and sixteen notifications I had ignored in the air. Most were congratulations I still had not answered from graduation. Two were from Antonia. One was from Mateo asking whether Formula 1 drivers ate normal food. There was also a message from Andre's mum.Jennifer: Welcome back. Lunch tomorrow if you are free? There is no agenda, I promise.I smiled before I could help it. The breakup had changed many things, but Jennifer had made it clear very quickly that she did not intend to become a stranger simply because Andre and I had stopped being together. She had sent me

  • My Ex's Football Rival Wants Me   71: Flowers

Carmen's POVWhen I arrived home, what was waiting for me was a vase of white peonies, garden roses and eucalyptus large enough to take over half the dining table.I stopped just inside the apartment with my paddock pass still hanging around my neck and stared at it. For a second, I assumed Tomas had sent them. It would have made sense after the weekend, especially after the way his mother had spent part of Sunday politely informing me that women like me were not usually included in whatever picture she had once imagined beside her son.I saw a card shoved in between the flowers, my name written across the front in handwriting I recognized immediately. It was from Andre.I set my bag down without taking my eyes off it.The apartment had been quiet when I left that morning, and it was quiet now, except for the faint hum of the air conditioning and the city beyond the windows. After an entire day of engines, crowds and people speaking over one another, the silence should have felt peace

  • My Ex's Football Rival Wants Me   70: Sunday Company

Carmen's POVTomas's mother was the first person that Sunday who made me miss the Formula 1 race on Friday. I had been back inside the paddock for less than twenty minutes when Tomas stepped aside outside his team's hospitality unit and introduced us. Until then, the morning had been easy. Race day had transformed the place I had explored two days earlier into something louder and more deliberate, with fuller grandstands beyond the paddock, guests moving between hospitality buildings in carefully planned streams and team personnel carrying the focused expressions of people who no longer had another practice session in which to fix a mistake.I liked the change, and I even liked that I no longer needed to keep checking the map or examining my paddock pass as though somebody might discover it had been issued to me by accident.Tomas had met me near the entrance between obligations, already dressed in a team kit and clearly operating on a schedule that did not belong to him anymore."Yo

  • My Ex's Football Rival Wants Me   69: He Saw the Pictures

Andre's POVCARMEN LOPEZ SPENDS FRIDAY PRACTICE WITH TOMAS CARVALHO AFTER FERNANDEZ SPLITThe headline sat beneath a photograph of Carmen walking through the paddock beside Tomas, her visitor pass hanging against her jacket while she looked up at him with the kind of expression that meant she was listening properly. There was nothing intimate in the picture. They were not touching, he was not leaning into her, and anybody with sense could have looked at it and seen two people having a conversation.I looked at it long enough to lose the right to call myself sensible.Numancia were in another country for a European fixture, and the coaching staff had given us the evening after dinner to ourselves as long as nobody left the hotel. Most of the squad had taken over one of the private lounges downstairs, where a card game had spread across one table and somebody had connected a console to the television. I had been half-listening to all of it until the first photograph appeared on my phone

  • My Ex's Football Rival Wants Me   68: Friday in the Paddock

Carmen's POVEngines were already warming somewhere beyond the garages by the time I stepped out of the car, and the sound alone made it clear this was not the kind of event I could wander into casually. Tomas had told me to come early, before practice, so I could see the paddock before it turned into the version everyone watched on television. Now that I was standing in front of it, gates and fences and men with earpieces stretching in every direction, I understood why he had insisted. The paddock pass was heavier than I expected. It hung from a black lanyard against my chest, thick enough to feel more like a credential than an invitation, and every few minutes I caught myself touching it to make sure it was still there. By the time I followed Tomas through the second security checkpoint, I had already learned that almost everything about a Formula 1 weekend happened behind another door, another barrier or another person checking whether your name belonged on a list.Tomas glanced ba

  • My Ex's Football Rival Wants Me   1: She Has Lost Her Mind

Carmen's POVMy half-sister had completely lost her mind, and I was sitting on my own bed watching it happen in real time.Mirabel had shown up at my apartment twenty minutes ago without calling ahead, which was very like her, and she had been talking ever since. Pacing back and forth in front of m

  • My Ex's Football Rival Wants Me   4: He is Hot??

Carmen's POVFrom across the section I had confirmed the brown hair, the dark jacket, the confident posture, all of it matching Mirabel's description close enough that I was sure. But that was at a distance. Up close, as he leaned forward to say something to one of his companions and the light caug

  • My Ex's Football Rival Wants Me   3: I will Seduce Him

Carmen’s POVI called Mirabel at seven in the morning, three days after she left my apartment. Elena's surgeon had already called twice about the outstanding balance on her post-op care, politely the first time, less so the second. Mateo's academy fees were due at the end of the month and I had alr

  • My Ex's Football Rival Wants Me   2 : Russell

Carmen's POV "Shit," Russell cursed the moment he saw me standing in the doorway. He scrambled out of the bed, grabbing his pants from the floor and pulling them on in a hurry, one leg at a time, like the speed of it was going to help anything. He crossed to where I was standing, took my arm witho
