4. His Grandpa

Daisy's POV :

After a few minutes, we have crossed an enormous gate of a bungalow. I was busy watching the scenery in front of me. Wow!! This place is huge.

We crossed the gardens along with different fountains. The limo stopped soon, and before I could get down I heard him say in a serious tone,

" Daisy, I need you to keep all your worries aside and act as a lovely wife. They must believe that our marriage is out of love. Don't worry I will talk if they ask for any details. I wanted you to know that this is important. Be polite and don't offend anyone there. Act as the perfect wife okay.."

I just nodded at him, then I remembered his previous warning and said, "Okay sir.."

"Common, let's go inside..."

He helped me get down as a gentleman. Of course, he needs to impress his family...

We were welcomed by an old lady in uniform.

"Welcome Master Harrison and Madam..."

She smiled politely towards us.

"Thank you, Aunt Mary..." He replied and moved inside hand in hand with me.

Before getting inside, I was worried about what am I going to face now. But as I stepped in, I was thrilled to see the architecture of the bungalow, it was like the homes of the Victorian Era. Which was romantic, distinctive, and abundant with detail, from the fabrics and patterns to the colours and textures. As an architect, I was impressed by the sight in front of me. Traditional and contemporary styles were nicely combined into a visual treat. It has a steeply pitched roof, a dominant front-facing gable, patterned shingles, and cutaway bay windows. I was busy watching the details when I heard him clear his throat.

"If you have seen enough, let's go and meet Grandpa first. "

Even though he sounded normal, I know it was a command. I said okay and went with him.

When we have almost reached the door, I caught his arm and stopped him in panic.

" What do I need to do or tell?? Please tell me otherwise I may get nervous... And make a fool of myself..." I whispered to him.

"For a matter of fact, You are already nervous Daisy. And don't worry, just act according to the situation. Just think this is real, that we are in love and married. Going to meet my Grandpa for the first time. I will manage the rest. Just go with the flow okay." he said with a very calm tone.

I took a deep breath and followed him.

His Grandpa was busy with reading when we went there.

"Good evening Grandpa, I got a surprise for you..." He said in a pleasing tone that I wondered if that sweet tone was coming from him only!! So the arrogant boss got a soft side too.

Grandpa looked up and his eyes scanned both of us.

" Ben..!! You got a girlfriend now??" Grandpa asked with confusion.

Then Ben took my hand and showed him the ring on my finger and said,

"No Grandpa, she is not my girlfriend. She is more than that. Meet my wife, Daisy. I am sorry we had to get married on short notice and could not inform anyone."

With his Grandpa's scrutinizing gaze, I struggled to smile. His eyes got softened once he saw the ring on my finger.

He averted his gaze towards Ben and said,

"Benjamin Alexander Harrison, would you care to explain what is going on... The last time we met, you didn't have a girlfriend. And most importantly you were not even ready to get married... What happened now?? A miracle??"

I swallowed hard as Grandpa started to question him, but I was relieved that he did not ask me anything at all. I felt Ben's hand going over my shoulder as an intimate gesture. I felt like moving away from him but I couldn't. I could sense his manly scent filling my nostrils along with his woody perfume. I was distracted, while he started explaining things to Grandpa.

" Grandpa, We knew each other for months only. And we were confused about our relationship. We were good friends at the beginning and did not know whether we wanted to go further than just a friendship. Until her family forced her to get engaged. That's when I realised I need her in my life and I can't lose her for the sake of anything. Her family did not have any interest in our relationship and forced her to get engaged with the guy they found for her. So she escaped from her home and came to me. And we get married on the same day. " he paused. I know he was checking for his Grandpa's reaction. I was sure that his Grandpa would fall for this as his story was too convincing.

Grandpa came towards us and hugged Ben.

"Finally, you are a family man now... I am so glad for you, and you're Daisy..." he paused.

" Daisy Donovan...Grandpa" I said with a smile.

"No my child, you are now Daisy Harrison. Don't mind the interaction that happened just between us. It is that my Grandson can be tricky sometimes and I just wanted to confirm that it's not one of his pranks. "

I gave a small laugh for the last comment. Hmm, his Grandpa seems to know him very well. Sorry, Grandpa, I had to play this drama in front of you, I thought.

"Where is mom??" Ben asked.

"She went with your Aunt to pick up Amanda. I think the engagement is going to get postponed. "

"Oh really... okay Grandpa. I will show her around until everyone comes back."

"Okay Ben, take good care of her... Her name is apt for her personality. Just like a beautiful daisy flower... I think you two look perfect for each other. God bless you, my children." he blessed us.

We left there with a smile. Instead of showing me around, he leads me to another master bedroom upstairs. When we finally got inside, he left me in his embrace. And I was in loss of his warmth, yet felt relieved.

"This is my room. As we are here to act like a couple, I can't arrange another room for you. You can rest a little, while I go outside. Melvin will come with your things and new phone. So if there is anything important, you can call Melvin or me,  okay.. "

Without waiting for me to answer he went outside. Hmm... it's hard to read him. It's like he has multiple personalities. And the one I just saw with Grandpa now was the best of all. His mysterious aura was replaced by ease there.

Who are you in real, Mr Benjamin Harrison..??, I wondered.
