It's been two weeks since Jilly stayed in Italy with Marco. But now, it's time for her to go home. She couldn't keep her work on hold for long.
"Will you come with me?"
-
Jilly had arrived in New York. The first thing she goes to is the bar. Her brother texted her, saying that if she could come down to check on the delivery for today. He couldn't make it due to a job in another state.
She would love to go home, but she missed working already as the New York air hits her nostril.
The taxi dropped her off in front of the entrance. The truck usually goes to the back as they unloaded. The bar is closed and very quiet as usual. They would get crowded once the night hits.
Jilly moved her feet inside the closed bar. She pushed the glass door opened and the inside is not as empty as the outside. She can see a woman sitting on the chair as she inspected the stocks coming in.
"I shouldn't have bothered to come here if I knew you're here. Did Kook told you to come down?" Jilly's voice startled her. She turned around quickly and was surprised to found Jilly standing behind her. Jilly raised her eyebrow, waiting for her answer.
"Yes, he is." Kathrine replied.
"Then why did he told me to check on things myself?" Jilly questioned the situation. Even when she asked her, she probably wouldn't know the answer. So, she had to figure it herself.
"Tell me, Katherine. Did he told you to be here or did you come here by yourself?" Jilly asked her in a hard tone. There's hatred in Jilly's eyes shorn towards her. It was clear and Katherine is aware.
"He told me to come down here, Jilly. He was in another state since yesterday and you just got back. I can go if you wish." Katherine's voice shaken up, hoping that she didn't make a mistake by saying that.
"No, stay here and get the work done. I don't want to see a slight mistake in the documents. My hands are too clean to get them dirty this soon." Katherine understood the meaning of her words. Jilly would kill her, but she doesn't want to, for now.
"Jilly." She stopped dead in her track and let out a painful sighed.
"What, Katherine?" She replied, not looking back. Because it's not only Katherine who called her name.
"There are some documents that need immediate attention. I should have returned them yesterday, but no one was here. Since you're here now, can you sign them please?" Katherine spoke. It was either to gave him the time before Jilly could leave or it was unintentional, she got her attention.
"Hand them to me and you can get them back at my house." Jilly slightly turned around to grabbed the documents, but she was faced with him. He stood there, holding the documents which were meant for Jilly and Katherine is nowhere to be found.
"Give them to me and I'll leave immediately," Jilly said, extending her hand out to receive the documents.
"You're home." He smiled sadly while looking at her deeply. He missed her a lot, he couldn't sleep and work properly. Especially, after another guy answered her phone when he called.
"I am," Jilly replied plainly.
"Where did you go... for that long?" Cayne asked. He wanted to know about the guy who picked up her phone. He wanted to know, who he is to her. He doesn't want to go crazy because of that.
"Vacation." She replied.
"I've missed you." He confessed. He thought that it showed he was not doing well since their separation.
"I don't." The way she masked her feelings made him believe every word she said.
"I'm sorry, Jilly. I'm really sorry." He apologized, again as his eyes got teary. He handed the documents to her and she wasted no time in delaying. But it was not his plan. His plan was to have her in his arms and he succeeded.
As she is in his arms, he couldn't handle the sadness. He held her so tight, afraid that it was too soon to let go.
"Forgive me, baby. I will keep apologizing to you until you forgive me. I know you will, one day." He murmured against her skin. "You can be with someone else. But, I will make sure that your heart only belongs to me and I am yours, always."
He broke the hug but to grabbed her face. With only one hand available, he leaned in and brought her face closer to his. He placed his lips on her and savor the moment.
He moved his lips slowly and through closed eyes, the both of them could feel wetness on their lips and none of them bothered to open their eyes to check. Until she pulled away. She quickly took the documents out of his hand and left before he could even open his eyes.
His head dropped.
"I risked my job for you." Katherine's voice could be heard approaching him.
"Thank you," Cayne said. He slowly brought his head up and looked at the door where it was left ajar, letting the sun coming through the crack.
"She wouldn't forgive you right away." She continued, watching his back on her.
"I know."
"Kook has been avoiding me since Jilly left. He thought she will never come back, even if he tried to bring her back." Cayne frowned.
"What do you mean?" Cayne asked.
"She has someone protecting her if she asks to. You didn't know about him, do you?" Katherine was surprised to discover the fact that Cayne never knew about the Italian family.
"You mean the guy she was with?"
"No, about her guardian." Katherine replied.
"Why does she need a guardian when she has her parents?" Katherine bit her bottom lip conflicted. She shouldn't have opened her mouth about someone else's family. "What, Katherine? Tell me."
"Jilly was thrown away when she was a baby and a mafia don found her. He became her guardian until she was old enough to make her own decision. Her parents then came to get her back, knowing her potential in their business. Jilly may be a Bakerhubb, but her name is never registered in the family certificate. Kook tried to convince her, but Jilly is like a diamond. A tough rock to break."
Cayne was left speechless by a new fact about Jilly, the woman he had been together for four years. He felt like he knew nothing about her.
"But she's not in the business." Cayne knew Jilly was never involved in their family business.
"Not in the business? Just look at her, Cayne. She is the business, I have been helping her for years. But... I've never seen her in pain like this." Katherine's voice got lower as she felt bad for Jilly. "I am sorry, but I'm not the only one who's at fault."
"You came." Jilly smiled as she opened the door for him to let him into her house. She had told the receptionist that she is expecting a guest to come, so he should be passed without questioning. "Of course, I made a promise." Marco stepped into her house. He came with only himself and the clothes he was wearing. That should not be a problem, because he could always buy a new pair of clothes or if he preferred, he could walk around naked. "Will you go so soon?" Jilly asked. She was closer to Marco than she was to Kook, her sibling by blood. "We will have to see about that later. I am staying, but I can't promise to stay for long. Is that okay?" Marco ruffled the top of her head. He gave her a loving smile and strode towards the guest room where he usually stayed whenever he visited
"What?" Cayne was left mindblown yet again. "Well then, have fun fighting for her with that brother of mine." Jilly moved past him and walked as fast as she could to get to the car. "Jilly." He called for her, but she didn't even give him a second glance. She was hurt, more than hurting. If she could just put her pain into words, her heart wouldn't be bleeding from the pain. - Six months have passed, Jilly was nowhere near New York. Cayne had been struggling to keep up with his business. If it's not for his brother who stepped up, his business might have crumbled down. For a while, his bother had taken over everything. Lincoln had no experience running a nightclub. His business
Jilly and Kook stood in front of Katherine's house. Kook looked uncomfortable, he turned to Jilly to make sure for the last time."Are you sure we're doing this in her house?" Kook asked. He never did an execution in someone's house, especially his staff. He rarely ever get his hands dirty."Very sure, Kook. Are you afraid to find something you are not ready for?" Jilly taunted him. She knew what was going on with him and Katherine. Whoever she was going to hurt in the process of hurting Cayne, those are not her responsibilities."I fuck her. That doesn't make her my girlfriend." Kook was not a jealousy type. He will get jealous of those he cares about. With Katherine, he was just not there yet."But you have a thing for her. So, brac
"I don't, baby." Cayne replied strongly. He doesn't want to repeat the past, ever. He had tasted the wrath of Julliane Bakerhubb. Never, ever he wanted to face her again."Then stop playing around and do your job precisely." Jilly sternly said to put him in his place. She never once lowered her gun which was pointing at the back of his head."I just wanted to see you. I missed you." Cayne said what he intended to say. Jilly wanted to laugh so hard when she heard that."Do I wanted to see you? I've been gone for a reason. One and clearly to be away from you. I would never want to see myself as a third wheel anymore. I am so done with you, Isaiah. If I could, I would kill you so I don't have to see your face again." As bitter as she was towards him, she would never kill the man she once loved.Aware of the gun on the back of his head, he needed to be fast to avoid an unwanted fire. He moved his head to
Jilly wanted to go back on the plane right away. But, Marco asked to stay the night because he was going to meet someone around the neighborhood, as in the next town. So, the next day, Jilly stayed home as Marco went away for his business. She was not afraid to leave everything behind, she never felt tied down to the place she lived in right now, not even for her family. She ordered breakfast because she doesn't want to leave dirty dishes. She was leaving not just because she wanted to, but for a side job as well. She knew who would come to her door to deliver the food. He would take the opportunity to come to her door. When the doorbell rang, she walked to the door to get her food. Expect the expected, she just knew it."I didn't know
"Rachel," Jilly called out the name on the list she held in her hand. It was listed on the paper clipped to the writing board."Presence." Jilly looked up at the voice and smirked."You're hard to get rid of, huh?" She asked the girl. Her case was not that different from Jilly's. Marcus found her and brought her in. The difference is, she's more like Katherine than Jilly. So, it's either she dead or dedicated her life to the mafia world which she soon to be discovered if she passed through all the training."Here to stay. Well, there's only the three of us now." Rachel, a blonde girl with fierce eyes pointed to themselves."You're right. If the three of you passed until the very end, you have a bright future ahead of you." Jilly said. Indeed, from the seven names on the list, there are only three girls remained in the house."We know because we're looking at one," Sara said while
"Jilly!" She was awoken from her daydream by his voice. She turned her head to find Marco stood next to her. She raised her eyebrow at him in question."Yes?""Mom is preparing lunch. We should go." He said. He was confused to found her daydreaming like that."What about the kids?" As she asked, her head turned towards where the three girls were supposed to be. She frowned when she saw no one was there."I sent them away," Marco replied. "Can we go now?"Instead of going as he asked, Jilly suddenly wrapped her arms around him. She rested her head on his chest."What's wrong?" He asked softly and rubbed her back softly. He could see that she needed some comfort, so he was providing her one."Why did they look up to me like I'm some kind of hero?" She asked in confusion. That was the first time she ever heard people saying things like that
Marcus and Jilly walked to his study. Jilly knew not to get excited because it was not going to be about work that she loved so much. Somehow, Jilly felt like trouble from home have arrived. "What is it?" Jilly asked as they were in his study. Marcus walked up to the mahogany desk and grabbed something off the desk. Jilly saw papers and printed pictures on them. She could see through the papers. "Come take a look," Marcus said, gesturing for her to come closer. Then, he handed her the papers. Jilly took them but didn't look at them right away. She looked at Marcus for a few more seconds before she took a look at the pictures. She knew it, the trouble at home had arrived. "You could have at least printed a better picture. You know, in a glossy paper so the pictures turned out good." She said as she put them down on the desk. She had no intention of keeping them or looking at them for long. "Is it him? I caught him today around the premises. Loo
