"You came." Jilly smiled as she opened the door for him to let him into her house. She had told the receptionist that she is expecting a guest to come, so he should be passed without questioning.
"Of course, I made a promise." Marco stepped into her house. He came with only himself and the clothes he was wearing. That should not be a problem, because he could always buy a new pair of clothes or if he preferred, he could walk around naked.
"Will you go so soon?" Jilly asked. She was closer to Marco than she was to Kook, her sibling by blood.
"We will have to see about that later. I am staying, but I can't promise to stay for long. Is that okay?" Marco ruffled the top of her head. He gave her a loving smile and strode towards the guest room where he usually stayed whenever he visited Jilly.
"That's fine," Jilly replied.
She followed him to the guest room and watched him plopped on the bed. He made an inviting gesture to Jilly and she complied. She laid beside him and stared at the ceiling.
"Are we going to mourn together? Is that why you wanted me down here?" Marco suddenly asked as he turned his head to look at her.
"Don't be silly, I'm not going to mourn over him." Jilly said, but her heart betrayed her in the worst way possible. She couldn't just be okay even if she wished to. Four years she spent together with him, from time to time she knew where he went. She spared his and his brother's life once.
"It's okay to feel hurt, Jilly. I'll be here for you, so I won't let you slip. I've always got you." Marco said, then he brought his hand to move her loose hair from her face so that he could see her face.
He cared for her because she's a family. But that doesn't mean he couldn't love her as a lover does.
A ringing of the house phone could be heard throughout the whole house. Jilly got up from the bed and walked to the living room where she put the house phone. She sat down on the couch next to the table and picked up the handle.
"Speaking," Jilly commanded. The house phone only had one purpose that is to connect her with the receptionist in the lobby.
"Miss. Bakerhubb, your brother is here to visit you." He spoke, informing her.
"I told you I didn't accept any guest today. Why the bother?" Jilly said in a hard tone. Did kook came back?
"I'm sorry, Miss. I have tried to tell him, but he said it's important." He replied in an apologetic tone.
"Did you not understand my order, Seth?" Jilly asked her employee.
"I do, Miss. I am so sorry to bother you with the call." Seth apologized and waited for Jilly to end the call first which she did. She even put the handle down harshly.
"I ordered some food for dinner. Who called?" Marco asked as he walked out of the room.
"My brother." Jilly replied. She looked in dazed and Marco frowned.
"What's wrong? Is he coming up?" Jilly shook her head. "Do you not want to see him?" He asked.
"Not today. I just got back today, I don't want to see anyone." Jilly said and looked at him blankly.
"Okay." Marco didn't put his hands into her life, he's not controlling her, never been. He was just being by her side to support her when she needed it.
A knock on the door made her sighed. She got up and walked to her room to get the documents handed to her earlier. Then, she walked up to the front door knowing who knocked already.
She opened the door and found Katherine standing politely. "Here. Don't try to help them get in the building, don't even try to cross me again." Jilly warned her as she handed her the documents. Katherine knew who Jilly referred to, so she didn't ask for furthermore.
Katherine nodded and excused herself to leave.
"You're being hard on yourself, Jilly. You can hate her, but don't let yourself get carried away with the hurt. Let's move on." Marco tried to ease her pain.
-
Jilly and Marco came down to get breakfast. As they reached the lobby and the elevator doors opened, Jilly walked out first and followed by Marco. She walked casually until she stopped when she saw him.
Cayne stood up straight when he saw her walked out of the elevator. He knew he would get to see her even if that means he had to wait in the lobby. Cayne saw a man walked behind her, he hoped that he was just another resident in the building. But he was wrong, when she stopped, he does too.
Marco examined Cayne in a way of judging him from head to toe.
"What are you doing here, Isaiah?" Jilly asked, facing him straightaway.
He grabbed her hand instead, but she pulled her hand away just as they touched. She felt the invisible burning as his hand touched hers. She doesn't want to show it, but her face failed to.
Seeing the hurt on her face, he remembered what Katherine said to him. Jilly was never hurt like this.
"Get the car, Marco." Jilly handed her car keys to him.
"Will you be okay?" He whispered to her ear, getting so close to her knowing he would be pissed off. When he saw her nodded, he left her side. But not just walked away like that, he kissed her deeply on her cheek.
"Marco? Are you seeing him?" Cayne felt like being punched in the gut seeing Marco. He was a level above Cayne, that's because he's Italian.
"Don't bother me, Isaiah. Stop coming to my house if that is why you're here." Jilly said.
"Of course I'm here to see you, Jilly. What else would I be here for?" He regretted it as soon as he said it, he just dug a hole for himself.
"It wouldn't be my first time seeing you coming out from her house. Have I not told you about the new regulations I set? If you are too concern about that, I can kick her out. Then, you two can see each other freely or you can even have her in your house. Just like old times, wouldn't it be?" Jilly made fun of his past relationship with Katherine. It was all to cover all the pain she felt. If she acknowledged it and keep thinking about it, she won't be able to put them past her.
"How could you say that? I love you, Jilly. Everyone can tell that I am in love with you." Cayne said, strongly believed that everyone knew. Of course, everyone around them knew.
"Then how could you do it?!" Jilly yelled out, letting out her feelings that she tried to push away. "Can you even count how many times you've been sleeping with her? If anyone knew, they would think that I am the poor one in the relationship. I was the one who couldn't satisfy her man, so he ended in another's woman bed. I would be the one that people pity for because I was so bad at keeping my relationship."
Cayne is shocked, hit by the facts that Jilly listed. Does she think that way?
"Stop it. Stop... stop." Cayne put his forefinger on her lips, silenced her. He almost choked and his voice trembled. She didn't realize she cried.
He looked at her pleadingly. He wanted her to stop saying those horrible things about herself.
"You are an amazing woman. You're like a superhero to me, I admire you and your potential, Jilly." He had a point. A superhero is meant to be admired.
"So, is that what I am to you? A superhero, who always helped you got out of trouble and shits you've done? Who thought she have done those dangerous things to saved the man she loved, but he only thinks of her as his superhero? What a shame on her, she was used like a toy."
"What?" Cayne was left mindblown yet again. "Well then, have fun fighting for her with that brother of mine." Jilly moved past him and walked as fast as she could to get to the car. "Jilly." He called for her, but she didn't even give him a second glance. She was hurt, more than hurting. If she could just put her pain into words, her heart wouldn't be bleeding from the pain. - Six months have passed, Jilly was nowhere near New York. Cayne had been struggling to keep up with his business. If it's not for his brother who stepped up, his business might have crumbled down. For a while, his bother had taken over everything. Lincoln had no experience running a nightclub. His business
Jilly and Kook stood in front of Katherine's house. Kook looked uncomfortable, he turned to Jilly to make sure for the last time."Are you sure we're doing this in her house?" Kook asked. He never did an execution in someone's house, especially his staff. He rarely ever get his hands dirty."Very sure, Kook. Are you afraid to find something you are not ready for?" Jilly taunted him. She knew what was going on with him and Katherine. Whoever she was going to hurt in the process of hurting Cayne, those are not her responsibilities."I fuck her. That doesn't make her my girlfriend." Kook was not a jealousy type. He will get jealous of those he cares about. With Katherine, he was just not there yet."But you have a thing for her. So, brac
"I don't, baby." Cayne replied strongly. He doesn't want to repeat the past, ever. He had tasted the wrath of Julliane Bakerhubb. Never, ever he wanted to face her again."Then stop playing around and do your job precisely." Jilly sternly said to put him in his place. She never once lowered her gun which was pointing at the back of his head."I just wanted to see you. I missed you." Cayne said what he intended to say. Jilly wanted to laugh so hard when she heard that."Do I wanted to see you? I've been gone for a reason. One and clearly to be away from you. I would never want to see myself as a third wheel anymore. I am so done with you, Isaiah. If I could, I would kill you so I don't have to see your face again." As bitter as she was towards him, she would never kill the man she once loved.Aware of the gun on the back of his head, he needed to be fast to avoid an unwanted fire. He moved his head to
Jilly wanted to go back on the plane right away. But, Marco asked to stay the night because he was going to meet someone around the neighborhood, as in the next town. So, the next day, Jilly stayed home as Marco went away for his business. She was not afraid to leave everything behind, she never felt tied down to the place she lived in right now, not even for her family. She ordered breakfast because she doesn't want to leave dirty dishes. She was leaving not just because she wanted to, but for a side job as well. She knew who would come to her door to deliver the food. He would take the opportunity to come to her door. When the doorbell rang, she walked to the door to get her food. Expect the expected, she just knew it."I didn't know
"Rachel," Jilly called out the name on the list she held in her hand. It was listed on the paper clipped to the writing board."Presence." Jilly looked up at the voice and smirked."You're hard to get rid of, huh?" She asked the girl. Her case was not that different from Jilly's. Marcus found her and brought her in. The difference is, she's more like Katherine than Jilly. So, it's either she dead or dedicated her life to the mafia world which she soon to be discovered if she passed through all the training."Here to stay. Well, there's only the three of us now." Rachel, a blonde girl with fierce eyes pointed to themselves."You're right. If the three of you passed until the very end, you have a bright future ahead of you." Jilly said. Indeed, from the seven names on the list, there are only three girls remained in the house."We know because we're looking at one," Sara said while
"Jilly!" She was awoken from her daydream by his voice. She turned her head to find Marco stood next to her. She raised her eyebrow at him in question."Yes?""Mom is preparing lunch. We should go." He said. He was confused to found her daydreaming like that."What about the kids?" As she asked, her head turned towards where the three girls were supposed to be. She frowned when she saw no one was there."I sent them away," Marco replied. "Can we go now?"Instead of going as he asked, Jilly suddenly wrapped her arms around him. She rested her head on his chest."What's wrong?" He asked softly and rubbed her back softly. He could see that she needed some comfort, so he was providing her one."Why did they look up to me like I'm some kind of hero?" She asked in confusion. That was the first time she ever heard people saying things like that
Marcus and Jilly walked to his study. Jilly knew not to get excited because it was not going to be about work that she loved so much. Somehow, Jilly felt like trouble from home have arrived. "What is it?" Jilly asked as they were in his study. Marcus walked up to the mahogany desk and grabbed something off the desk. Jilly saw papers and printed pictures on them. She could see through the papers. "Come take a look," Marcus said, gesturing for her to come closer. Then, he handed her the papers. Jilly took them but didn't look at them right away. She looked at Marcus for a few more seconds before she took a look at the pictures. She knew it, the trouble at home had arrived. "You could have at least printed a better picture. You know, in a glossy paper so the pictures turned out good." She said as she put them down on the desk. She had no intention of keeping them or looking at them for long. "Is it him? I caught him today around the premises. Loo
Jilly walked into the nightclub where she knew he was waiting. It would always be her who came to him without had to be called directly."You think you can walk freely in this country and this specific town without noticed?" Jilly's voice brought him to turned his head to the side. She leaned on the table before the chair while looking at him."Come sit down." Cayne patted the chair beside him, ignoring her previous question."Do you think you can order me around?" Jilly stared at him hard."No." He replied honestly. "But, I just hope that you will sit down and have a few drinks with me." He uttered his wish. He was sitting on a piece of thin ice himself, but he acted it naturally. She was fuming while looking at him. But then, she realized something. A smirk made an appearance on her lips. He was waiting for his pending doom."Come on." Again, he patted the
