“Bella! Slow down! Emma is scared,” I yelled.

With a sullen expression, Bella slowly slowed down the car. I was quite relieved at that moment. That was the first time I saw a side of Bella that I had never seen before. She was indeed good at hiding everything. It was proven during the seven years of our marriage that I knew nothing about her. I’m sure everyone would say I’m a fool.

Not long after, the car driven by Bella stopped in front of an ice cream shop. The shop looked empty from the outside. Emma and I got out of the car, but Bella suddenly changed her mind and said, “You two go in. I’ll go home first to prepare lunch.” She gave that as her reason.

I turned and looked at Emma’s face. She looked disappointed. Maybe she just wanted to spend time with her parents. Seeing her like that suddenly made my heart ache because I had been in Emma’s position since I was seven years old.
