Giselle gulped.
At this point, words had left her.
Giselle's lips quivered. She couldn't speak or think of anything to say that was suitable in this stressful situation.
Although Giselle had been opposed to Edsel's Beta henchmen many times before, also, she had been stubborn enough to face the intimidation of an Alpha like Edsel. At such times, Giselle did feel afraid. She should be scared. It was her instinct because she was an Omega, an underdog to all.
However, she had never been so frightened as of right then.
It was not just fear anymore. Giselle could clearly feel her heart turning upside down. The numbness quickly spread throughout her body, taking over every cell in her body.
Her inner wolf was not different from her. It began shrinking into a ball of fur, trembling like crazy. It was scared of Marcus. Its groan of pain kept on coming.
Giselle turned white, beads of sweat coating her forehead. She swallowed hard. She tried to open her mouth to say something when Marcus rushed over, choking her neck.
"Where is Tina?", He growled.
At this point, Marcus had his anger completely obscured his mind. Because of this outburst, he completely ignored the pain that was gradually building up within his inner wolf. His inner wolf was growling. It was not snarling in anger, but rather agony.
It hurt.
But Marcus did not know what caused that pain.
Yet, he could tolerate it.
He needed to know where his mate had been! He wanted to know where the love of his life, the one he promised to had been!
His hand squeezed around Giselle's neck as hard as cold steel.
Giselle's face began to flush with a lack of oxygen. Her inner wolf was groaning in pain. Marcus's fury scared her inner wolf to an extent. He seemed like he wanted to kill her!
But her inner wolf did not want to die!
Giselle did not want to die!
Her eyes turned yellow as she also showed her fangs. Her claws sharpened, too. Even if she was an Omega, when it came to life-threaten situations, she needed to fight. She had to fight! There was no other choice! Even when her opponent was much, much, stronger than she was.
Giselle's instinct told her to fight!
Her wolf wanted to fight for its life, too!
Giselle scratched into his cold steel arm, her fingernails plugged deep into his skin, pulling into long scratches. Her tears quickly welled up in her eyes.
Her surroundings began to fade away.
Her lungs were about to burn.
It needed air!
Suddenly, Marcus released her.
Giselle was so sure Marcus acted like that obviously not because of her scratching. Giselle was an Omega. How could an Omega fight against an Alpha? Especially if this was an Alpha leader! Hell, no!
Marcus threw Giselle back to the couch. Her back hit the back of it. However, this pain was nothing compared to the feeling of fresh air poured into her lung. Giselle leaned over, fell to the couch, gasped for air.
All of a sudden, Marcus's cry reached her.
She tilted her head to have a look at Marcus. Right then, he was crumbling on the floor, crying in agony.
What Giselle did not know was that was not his physical pain. It was his inner wolf.
His inner wolf hurt. It hurt so bad that he could barely stand nor handle it any longer.
Something was really strange!
Giselle was stunned. She didn't know what Marcus was up to and whether she should approach him to see what was going wrong.
But Marcus shrank more and more to the ground. Until he had shrunk into a fetus posture, his crying in pain still presented. It was even worse.
Giselle bit her lip, hesitant to get up from the couch, and walked up to Marcus's side.
She knelt beside him, titled her head to observe his condition at that moment.
His handsome face was drenched in cold sweats. His eyes were closed, his teeth constantly clenched. His fangs were still there, but it showed no threat then.
Marcus didn't stop moaning. It seemed like the pain was a bit too much for him. However, Giselle did not see any severe injuries that could hurt him.
Her scratches on his hand are no different than cat scratches?
"Marcus...Are...are you okay?"
Giselle hesitated to reach out for his hand. She touched Marcus's shoulder blade and pushed him to one side to see what was really going on.
Giselle had just touched Marcus, but Marcus's inner wolf's aches and pains suddenly subsided miraculously.
Marcus frowned, slightly opening his eyes to Giselle.
His eyes had stopped glowing bright red already. At this moment, those eyes seemed to be covered with a mist, which was dark and difficult to detect.
Marcus stared at Giselle.
At that moment, he was no longer angrily roaring and asked Giselle where Tina was. He did not know how his heart felt anymore. He just knew that this tasted unpleasant.
Facing Marcus's gazes, Giselle felt deeply guilty.
Marcus loves Tina. His last action proved it. It made Giselle both feel hurt for Marcus and jealous of Tina.
A selfish, mercenary person like Tina, why would there be someone who loved her so wholeheartedly as Marcus?
"What's going on?"
At this moment, outside the door echoed Lady Bailey and her rushing knock on the doorframe.
Giselle seemed to be pushed to reality. She quickly got up from Marcus's side, hurriedly opened the door.
Lady Bailey saw Giselle open the door. She glanced at Giselle's pale face. Giselle's hair was messy, too. Not only that, but she also saw Giselle's expression at this time. Giselle was extremely panicked and frightened. Over Giselle's shoulders, Lady Bailey saw her son Marcus Bailey lying on the ground.
She looked back at Giselle, suddenly seeing through all of this.
"Marcus, let's have a word!"
Lady Bailey sternly said. She glanced at Giselle one more time real quick and then back to Marcus, who had already stood up.
Marcus walked to the door. As he passed Giselle, Marcus didn't bother to glance at her once. He also indifferently passed Lady Bailey, walking straight away.
Lady Bailey looked at his back, then looked back at Giselle, telling her to take an early break. She then took a breath, following in the direction Marcus had just disappeared.
Giselle put her shoulders down, biting her lip, trying not to cry.
Her inner wolf was bitter, too.
"You knew about this!"Marcus exclaimed. Never in his life had he felt so betrayed. Not from anyone else but his mom!His beloved mom!Lady Bailey was in no hurry to answer. She went to the bar and poured herself a glass of wine. She took a sip, then slowly replied to Marcus, "What are you talking about? What do I know?"Marcus frowned, unable to believe that Lady Bailey was still acting as if he didn't know anything."You know my bride is not Tina! You didn't even tell me! You tricked me into marrying a stranger!""Watch your word!" said Lady Bailey sternly, "How do we propose to the Browns? You said you wanted to marry the Brown Alpha's daughter. I had also given them your words. They did exactly what you wanted - A daughter of Edsel Brown. Giselle is his daughter. She is a Brown, too. Her bloodline to her father, Mr. Edsel, was proven. If so, what right do you have to say I'm deceiving you?"Before Marcus could even respond, Lady Bailey continue
The Browns' mansion.Edsel Brown sat at his desk. In front of him was his daughter, Tina's phone. At that time, this phone constantly displayed calls coming from none other than Marcus Bailey.Edsel frowned, thinking that Marcus had seen that the Omega he had married to was not Tina.In his head, he quickly came up with a plan.Edsel cleared his throat. He then picked up the phone, "Marcus?"On the other end of the phone, Marcus's voice rang out. It sounded somewhat surprised, "Edsel?"It was like he was not expecting Edsel to pick up the phone."Your wedding night, and you didn't even pay attention to your mate, but calling Tina like this?""Where's Tina?", Marcus no longer bothered to beat around the brush with Edsel.Edsel nonchalantly replied to Marcus, "I don't know where she was, Marcus. She has disappeared.""She has disappeared?" exclaimed Marcus, unable to believe what he had just heard. Why did Tina disappear?Whe
Giselle.I opened my eyes to see that I was in my comfy bed at home, and my surroundings ever felt so homie.I sat up, got out of the bed, making my way down to the kitchen, where I heard the clanking sound of pots and pans. As I walked down the hail, my mom’s singing reached my ears with the most soothing effect ever.As I reached the kitchen, mom was making dinner. The tempting smell of her hot chicken soup and toasted garlic butter bread filled the whole room. The TV was on, playing an old-school TV drama series which my mom loved wholeheartedly. She was singing its theme song.I stood in the hallway and was definitely in awe.Mom looked younger than when I last saw her. But then, I looked around and realized our apartment décor was so old. Even that TV drama series my mom loved to watch had stopped airing like twenty years ago.Mom was happily singing and swaying when she spotted me standing still in the dark hallway. She tilted her hea
Marcus.I woke up to the sweet aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans and the sound of it crushed under the sharp blades of the coffee beans blending machine, which I had not used in a pretty long time.I sat up in my bed, half of my body still covered in my greyish and fluffy comforter, too comfortable to get out to my liking. However, after being such a procrastinator for a good fifteen minutes, I got up from my messy bed, heading to my bathroom.I looked at myself in the mirror. The man in the mirror stared back at me. His eyes were tired. He looked like he had not slept in days.Indeed, there was not a single night in which I could go to sleep in peace. I could not sleep. If I ever tried to close my eyes, that night’s horrible scene would replay all over again in my head, it prevented me from sleeping. My inner wolf was angry at me, too.I sighed and walked out of my bathroom to change.I did not want to think about it anymore. Not today.
Marcus. The council members had gathered at the meeting room inside of the packhouse. They were all sitting at their positions, discussing something I was not interested in.My mind drifted to this morning when I put out my anger at Giselle. My wolf crawled back and forth in my mind. He hissed at me and looked at me with a disapproving look.He was judging me. He was blaming me for his sadness, his ache.I could not help but admit ever since that night, my wolf constantly felt aching. But not only my wolf.I reached where my heart was. It hurt right there, too. Every time I thought of that night or wrapped my mind around Giselle. But I could tolerate it. I had to.“..Mar…Marcus…”Mom shook me, snapping me back to reality.I looked at her, realized that I was a little lost in my thought. Everyone in the meeting room looked at me with confusing looks on their faces. My uncle, Raiz, had stood up, and clearly, he had just done his talking.&nb
GiselleHe stormed off as always. But this morning, he decided to give some of his harsh words to me. He presumed that I deserved it. And even if Iwanted to defend me, there was nothing I could say to him.Should I tell him that I was not in the wrong here?Should I tell him that it was Tina who deceived him?Should I tell him that Edsel had my mom as a hostage, so I had to do what he said?Would he believe in me?That was why I decided not to say anything. I bit my lips to keep my words at its bay.I flinched as he slammed the door hard, signaling that he was beyond angry. It was frustrating. Marcus hated me to the gut.I turned to look at the sandwiches I had made on the table, then to my coffee. My vision got blurry. Tears were welling up, threatening to drop. But I held it in. I could not cry.I chose to do this myself.I chose…***Just the thought of going bac
Giselle. It was half-past eight in the evening that I left my mom’s loft. We had had a nice day, chit-chatting about everything and her giving me advice. Though she could not be at our home, we still managed to have the same old feeling. It was nice to have a heart-to-heart talk with her.“I don’t know much about mating. You know, I don’t have a mate. But listen to your wolf, to your instinct. Gigi, Luna will lead you to your happiness. Trust, Luna.”I sighed as I recalled my mom’s words on my problem. She and I both knew there were no other ways I could use to get out of this situation anymore. If so, maybe I should go with it.If Marcus and I could not be a loving couple, then a closed relationship would not be bad at
Marcus. The wind blew hard that night. It was almost eight, my friends and I were about to take on our patrol duty. We divided our team into two. One would take a tour around the city of our territory, and the other would take the forest path. After two rounds, there was no sign of the intruders in the city and the woods, which made me question those rouges Raiz mentioned. Even though rogues were known to be very aggressive, they would try to avoid fighting if they could. After all, they were rogues. They were believed to be easy to be in a vulnerable position if there might have any fight occurred. So that made me wonder, did they show up at our area by accident? Or were they spying on us? If they showed up in our area by accident, then there would be nothing to worry about. On the contrary, if they were spying on us, that would be a stupid decision. Because, one, even if my pack had lacked an Alpha leader, Bailey’s pack was s
