Chapter 9: Strangers say the strangest things

The morning breeze had been a thing of comfort to me, its cool message of guidance and love had been mind-soothing. That man, Gabriel had returned and once again my peace was gone.

“Hi.” The girl said. I was guessing this was his daughter, she had his hair and I could see a bit of him in her. Just a bit.

“Hi,” I responded. She looked flushed and quickly turned her eyes away in a shy manner. I smiled to myself knowingly. It was always the same with all of them the first time they saw me.

She looked up at me once again, this time her icy blue eyes bore into mine, searching, reaching into my very soul. Blood flow to my face as goosebumps erupted all over my flesh. I could not stand it any longer and quickly averted my gaze. Who was this witch?

“Selene.” Gabriel’s voice echoed through the house. I was grateful to him for the intrusion as she quickly turned her gaze to him. She stared at him coldly, in the same way she had looked at my mother.
