Cora’s POV

“What happened to you?” Tally covers her lips as she sees me standing in front of my apartment door, “why did you let yourself soak in the rain?” She pulls me inside without worrying if the floor is wet.

“I didn’t know that it will rain, I haven’t brought an umbrella, and it’s sudden pour when I’m already at the bus station.” My body is still trembling, from the nervousness and fear. What if Tally can smell his scent to me?

Is it enough to hide what happened if I let my body wash in the rain?

She stares at me, “then why did you run here instead of the convenience store to buy at least a disposable umbrella? Don’t use Clyde for your reason because, from the very start, you knew that I’m with him.”

I sigh, “I know that you’re with him, though, this is the first time for him that I came home late. By the way, where he is?” I took the chance to change the subject, if she will keep asking me there is a high chance that I will tell her everything.

“He’s already asleep, I said that there is a traffic jam so you will come home late. Cora, next time even how much you are worried about Clyde, please, think about yourself. What if you got sick, then how about him?” She sighed.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t think about that. Thank you for helping me today, did you already eat?” I ask while drying my hair using my towel, acting like everything is fine and nothing happened.

“It’s fine, we order some food from the resto. If you haven’t had your dinner, we left some for you in the ref just check it.” She smiles, “I will go now, my mom keeps asking me to come home.”

“Okay, please be careful on the road.” I wave my hand and look for her until I can’t see her car, I gradually close the door. My trembling knees gave up and the sobs I keep suppressing finally freed from my mouth.

I’m so idiot, I almost gave myself to someone again.

They are all the same, new experiences in sex with a new body, after they’ll get what they want; they will act as if nothing happened and leave.

“Mom?” I hurriedly wipe my tears and give my best to stop the sound of my cry, “why are you sitting there, are you hurt?”

Clyde’s voice is worried, I clear my throat and wet it using my saliva. I give my best try to plaster a smile on my lips and look at him, “oh, Tally said you are already asleep. Did I wake you up?” I ask.

“It’s fine, mom, but why are you so wet and your eyes is color red? Did something happen on the way, tell me if someone bullies you.” He continued said.

“That’s not it, mom got wet because of the sudden rain. Back to your sleep, I will just change my clothes and lay down beside you.” I pat his head and kiss his cheeks.

“Okay, but please hurry mom. I have so many things to tell you about school!” He excitedly said and run to our room.

I can taste the bitterness of my life; my chest tightens thinking about Clyde going to stop school in the next few days when he enjoys it and seeing him smile like that after so long. If only I were also part of a wealthy family with dominant blood, then I can give him a better life… And complete family.

I immediately shake my head at the things I am thinking, past is already past. I already raised Clyde on my own for almost 5 years, I don’t have anyone to fulfill what is missing. I will do anything so my son will not feel any regret that I am his mom.

I will fulfill everything.

I bit my lips as I rub the soap on my skin, even though I don’t smell his scent, I want to make sure that Clyde can’t sense another Alpha from me.

“Clyde, are you still awake?” I whisper as I walk inside our room, our apartment is good only for the two of us. Luckily, Clyde loves to sleep beside me.

“I’m still up mom, waiting for you to come here.” He replied and smile, his eyes twinkling. “up here, hurry!” He pats the side of the bed with his little hand.

“Yes, I will!” I lay beside him and leaned towards him, “so, what do you want to tell me that makes you feel excited that much?” I pinch his nose.

“It’s all about school! I got new friends and my teacher is nice, at first, I was too shy but they all start to talk to me first! Mom, everyone got nice things, and they let me borrow them!” He immediately said after I ask, “oh, but there is this one who always tries to get away from me, she’s calling me cheap and dirty but it does not matter!” he gave me an assurance smile.

There are times, I think that my son is more mature than me. He always tries not to bother me, but I want him to rely on me sometimes too.

“Is that so? Maybe that kid is from the richest family here, just ignore every word and befriend to kind children.” I said and kiss his cheeks, “do you feel sad that you receive those words?”

He blinks multiple times and nods, “of course, I am, mom! You gave everything to buy all the things I have now, how can that kid call me cheap!” He pouts. “I’m Alpha, I won’t let someone bully you, mom!”

“Aww, then you’re the only Alpha I want in my life!” I said and hug him.

Yes, I don’t need more Alpha. Just my son is enough, there is nothing else. I will talk to Tally about the job; maybe I can search for a new one.

I will just make some story to cover what happened tonight…
