I Have Tried!

Stephany was jolted back by the phone’s ringtone and opened her eyes. Taking the opportunity of Juma’s daze to the ringing phone and their patted lips, she slipped from under him.

“I am going to shower” she ran as fast as her legs could carry her into the bathroom.

When she finally closed the bathroom door, she heaved a sigh of relief breathing exaggeratedly with her back against the door.

“Phew! That would have ended up in another mess!” She mumbled to herself.

But she hadn’t cooled down when she heard Juma’s voice from the other side of the door, “Why are you running away when your phone is calling?”

His tone was filled with teasing and amusement; he barely hid them in his question.

What? Was it her phone that was ringing? She didn’t even listen to the ringtone. All she wanted was to escape as far away as possible.

“Who is calling me?” Stephany asked from the bathroom not opening the door.

“Open up and take the phone,” Juma
