Chapter 46: Closure 2.

A deluge of silence weighs on us after I say that and the sounds that come from her dragging her feet probably as she brings her legs up close so she can put her arms around it, reminds me we’re the only ones out this far. “Are you cold?”

She hums her negative response and I hear her voice ring through the cavern as she finally decides to speak again. “Did you come out here on winter nights on patrols?”

I would have gone on to boast about how it's no challenge for me and all but, the calmness in her voice comes to me, conveying her worry and fear as she most likely goes drawing scenes in her head.

I hum, “I particularly fancied the cold nights out here. My wolf especially loved it and fooled around in the snow like an excited puppy. It always did the charm to put him in a good mood” I start to smile along my words.

Scenes from the past invades my mind at once, overwhelming me for a moment as I’m sent adrift
