13. New possibilities

“It’s him again,” Marcus said, as though he wasn’t surprised. At the sound of his voice, I got back to my senses and realized that I was still in his arms. I moved away from him at once and stood on my feet.

“Sorry.” I said, embarrassed, being so lost in my thoughts that I had not realized I was forcing him to hold me like that. From the looks of it, he didn’t seem bothered at all.

“Am I missing something?” He instead said, eyeing Asher’s car as it left a trail of dust behind.

Understanding his insinuation, I shook my head, “Nothing of significance.”

“He looked like he wanted to kill me.” He said, “It can’t just be because I defeated him.”

“What are you implying?”

“That he likes you.” Came his crude reply, which made me widen my eyes at once.

I let out an incredulous laugh, “Trust me, he definitely doesn’t like me.”

“Really?” he asked, unimpressed, “How are you so sure?”
