Lily's POV
His lips claimed mine as if claiming his least important property. His tongue invaded my mouth and made wonders inside. His big calloused hands are now caressing my waist in an unkind way, making me wince under his merciless touch. He was kissing me without gentleness. He was kissing me painfully. The memories of how we ended up in this loveless and cold marriage filled my mind. The promise I made with the dying man in front of them. I tried to talk to the Don again after that incident in the hospital. I thought it was selfish of me to agree to the old man’s request and I tried to convince him to change his mind but he didn’t listen to me. He said, he’ll die with a grudge against me if I refuse him. He’s like a real grandfather to me. He was one of the reasons why I was able to continue my study and this sacrifice is the only way to pay him back. I accepted Rogue’s wrath. Now, he’s starting to make my life a living hell. I pushed Rogue and slapped his face. It shocked him and it shocked me too. I took a step back when he caressed his cheek and his eyes sharpened. His unkind expression is scaring the hell out of me. I want to shove him away but courage has left my system. Slowly, the corner of his lips rose. His devilish smirk made my heart race. "You have the courage to fight now, huh?" His mocking tone brought my courage back. Rage is reigning my system. He’s looking down on me just because he thought I made his life miserable. Among the two of us, I was the real miserable. He’s dating another woman even when we’re already married. He’s that dirty. I stared back at him, angry. "I will fight whoever hurts me, Rogue. I'm not some stupid woman who would just cry in the corner." He laughed sarcastically and grabbed my wrist, shocking me again. “Did you use that personality to lure my family? You think it’ll work on me? Lily, I’ve known you for so long and I know that you’re just after my family’s wealth. Why don’t you just name your price and agree to divorce. I’ll give fcking millions, woman.” He was holding me so tight that it's starting to sting. However, I did not back down. I'm allowing him to live his life, go on with his life with his girlfriend even when we're married but hurting me is a different thing. And his words are just too harsh that it’s triggering the depths of my emotions. I slowly shook my head. “I will never agree to divorce, Rogue. You have to kill me to get rid of me.” He clenched his jaws and pulled me closer to him as his eyes sharpened. "We'll see, Lily. I'll make you cry a fcking river." His threat got stuck in my head even when he already left. I don't know what he's thinking or even what he's planning to do. But one thing is for sure, he'll use my own feelings to make me suffer. He's that kind of person. I palmed my face as I felt my knees getting weak. An argument with him drained my energy. I felt like even his presence can trigger my anxiety. I took my cell phone out and stared at my mom’s photo on the screen. She’s one of the reasons I’m enduring this hellish life. Rogue’s family is helping my mom. My mom has breast cancer. We discovered it after I married Rogue. At first, I couldn’t accept my situation. Rogue is disrespecting me and our marriage. I tried talking to his parents because I want divorce but his dad said their family couldn’t bear to be put in a scandal. Besides, he’s an honorable retired military general and now a politician. He doesn’t want to ruin their family name and his reputation. I had no choice and I’d rather lose my dignity and pride than let my mom suffer. We have no means to get her treated. I’ve no money. Squeezing my eyes closed, I swallowed the pain and disappointment. I’m not giving up on my mom and that means I’m not giving up on this marriage too. *** “Revise it!” Rogue growled and threw the document on my face. He called me in this office early in the morning just to insult me and tell me to revise the report about the product we launched last week. This isn’t my line of job, actually. I am in the production team but I couldn’t do anything when he suddenly transferred me to the marketing team. I clenched my jaws and started picking the scattered papers. Patience, Lily! You can’t lose this job. You still have to save money to pay him for buying you a condo unit. Sucking my breath, I stood in front of him and stared at his expressionless face. He shot an eyebrow up. “What are you looking at? You have a problem?” I shook my head and was about to leave when the door swung open. My heart clenched after Mari entered and chuckled sarcastically after she saw me. Mari crossed her arms and stared at me. Her eyes are undeniably insulting me. “Look at you, Lily. You look pitiful. That’s what you get for ruining my relationship with Rogue.” She started walking towards Rogue. My eyes shamelessly followed her movement. I sucked my breath and swallowed the lump in my throat when she sat on Rogue’s legs and they started kissing sensually before my eyes. Rogue’s intense and unkind eyes are watching me as if seeing me in pain satisfies him. I heaved a sigh and stood straight, realizing I shouldn’t let him see me miserable. I lifted my chin as my eyes blankly stared back at him. I saw how his forehead creased and he stopped responding to Mari’s kisses. Mari, on the other hand, started kissing his neck and massaging his chest while I stood in front of him, fighting his stares with indifference. I’m not giving you the satisfaction, Rogue. You’ll get tired of hurting me until you give up on your own.Lily's POVI did not bother opening the lights when I entered my condo unit like a walking dead. My eyes were puffy. My lips were sealed. My messy hair was down as I hugged the picture of my mother. The depressing darkness enveloped the whole unit and my heart. The sudden death of my mother was still hard to accept. Her last memory in my head was the time she talked to me about divorcing Rogue. I didn't even talk to her about the things she wants to do and she misses to do. I was too confident that she'd make it since her doctors are the best in their field.I should've talked to her often. I should've told her stories about my life. I should've hugged her when she can still hug me back. I should've held her hand when she can still hold mine.“M-Mom…” Tears rolled down my cheeks again as I sat behind the couch and rested my back on it.The pain of losing loved ones is so unbearable. My heart felt like breaking into a million tiny pieces and I couldn't find a way to put it back togethe
Lily’s POV“What’s wrong with you?” I asked angrily after I pushed Rogue against the wall. I dragged him to the warehouse where no one would see us or listen to us. I don’t know what his deal is but I really hate it when he interferes with my life. He just won’t stop manipulating me, huh?He clenched his jaws and stared at me darkly, “I should be the one asking you that, Lily. What’s wrong with you? Why are you talking to that man?”I shook my head in disbelief, “Not because you’re my husband doesn’t mean you can completely control me. I am not your possession, Rogue. I will talk to anyone I want to talk to and you have no say in that.”His eyes sharpened even more, “Why do you even want to talk to him, huh? Are you interested in him?”“Can you hear yourself?” I asked angrily. “You unjustly fired the person and now you’re thinking ill of our friendship? Josh, I don’t have the time to be interested i
Lily’s POV“Carry the table inside.”I gritted my teeth and pressed my palm against the table. I turned to Rogue and shot him sharp gazes. He looked at me with furrowed eyebrows when I stopped the two male employees he called to transfer the table inside his office.“What? You want a new table?”I hissed, “I want my previous position, Rogue! I don’t want to be your secretary!”I could feel the employees around watching us. They seemed curious, shocked and scared especially when Rogue’s expression darkened. He clenched his jaws, “I fired my secretary, Lily!”“It’s your problem! I want my previous position not this.”He took a deep breath as if he’s restraining his anger. I was glaring at him while he’s looking at me with a cold expression on his face. His lips were in a thin line and I can feel the tension that’s making the employees around us stiff. If he really wants us to get along, he should know that manipulating me would only intensify the cold war between us.He clenched his jaw
Lily’s POV I was drinking coffee while massaging my aching head when someone entered my kitchen. Obviously, it’s Rogue. I should really change my passcode so he won’t be able to come here whenever he pleases. “Let’s go to work together.”I didn’t react to what he said. I continued sipping on my coffee while staring at the island counter. Right! I have to work today and surely, everyone in the company heard about what happened at the party. “Lily, I said let’s go to work together.”I lazily lifted my arm. “No need to repeat. I heard it the first time. It’s just that…I’m not interested.”He clenched his jaws as he stared into my eyes. “I’ll appoint you as my secretary.”That’s when I lifted my face and looked at him. “What did you say?”“I think you heard me the first time, Lily.”I gritted my teeth and glared at him. “I will resign if you do that!”He tilted his head and took his phone out. He called someone and said… “Hello? You’re fired.”My eyes widened. “Who’s that?”He smirked.
Lily’s POVI angrily sat on the stool of the bar and ordered a drink. The female bartender smiled after pushing the glass of drink in front of me., “Men problems?”I scoffed, “A devil problem, I’d say.”She chuckled, “I hope he’s better than the British devil in Armani Lucifer Morningstar or the expensive drink won’t be worth it.”I sighed and my forehead creased when I saw Rogue entering the club. Oh shit! Did he just follow me after I walked out of the party? I still can’t believe what he did, alright? He introduced me to everyone as his fiancee. A fiancee? Really? Not that I want him to introduce me as his wife. It’s just that his confession will surely change my life—oh especially in the office.“Speak of the devil,” I whispered as I stared at the man who immediately spotted me among the crowd. The female bartender chuckled which made me look at her. She shrugged her shoulders and grinned, “Hotter. The drink is on the house, babe.”My forehead creased as she turned her back and le
Lilys’ POV The slit of the dress that Rogue sent was too high. It’s almost showing my groin. I rolled my eyes and shook my head realizing I don’t have another dress to wear so I have to put up with this. Sighing, I put some light makeup on and curled my hair. I grabbed my pouch and looked at the door when I heard it open and closed. I’m inside my room so I couldn’t see who opened the main door but there’s only one person who knows my passcode. “Lily.” Right! The impatient Rogue Harrison couldn’t wait for anyone. Especially me. I lazily opened the door and caught him looking at his wristwatch. My lips parted after I saw him in a black suit. He looked dashing now that his hair was fixed properly. I looked at him from head to foot and when I looked at his face again, I realized he’s also checking me out. His lips parted when his eyes landed on my face after roaming his eyes all over my body. He cleared his throat as his eyes burned with desire. “Are we late? Let’s go,” I said as I a
