The Luna of the werewolf pack brought Kane and Lex Blair—the twin wolves—before my sister and me.

"These are my twin sons. Each of you choose one," she said.

I looked up in surprise.

Kane, the elder, was strong and healthy—the future Alpha of the wolf pack.

Lex, his younger brother, had suffered from heart disease since childhood.

"No need to worry about me, Lyra. I have it under control," I said, turning to leave.
