Chapter 2

Author: Circle Master
Leon scowled, his hatred for me so deep it came from the heart.

He and I had truly loved each other once.

At the hunting tournament, we acknowledged one another. And in the hunts that followed, our coordination was so seamless that others envied us.

He promised me he would remain loyal to me for life.

Excited, I told the pack elders the news.

At the banquet celebrating my finding a mate, I was clearly the one about to undergo the marking ceremony with him.

Yet Leon’s gaze never once left my younger sister, Rose.

I was bothered by it, so that very night, I expressed my dissatisfaction to him.

His brows had been full of impatience when I told him, and his tone was perfunctory.

I thought he was simply exhausted from the banquet proceedings. So, I stopped talking and let him rest, never expecting that to be the beginning of my tragedy.

Then, at the marking ceremony, I looked at the venue setup, which was completely different from what I had requested, and angrily went to find Leon.

However, he only looked at me with cold eyes and said, “I won’t let someone full of schemes become my Luna! The Luna of this pack can only be your sister, Rose!”

I couldn’t understand it.

Why was the werewolf who once praised my talent now attacking me with such vicious words?

I lost control and rushed to the center of the ceremony, questioning Rose about whether she had said something to Leon.

In the middle of the argument, rogues who had grudges against the pack suddenly charged into the banquet hall. They killed everyone present.

I fell into a pool of blood, watching my pack members fall one after another.

I was in agony.

As the princess of the pack, I had failed to protect my pack members. I truly was someone without ability.

So when I opened my eyes again, I chose to fulfill Leon and Rose.

I led the pack members and slaughtered all the rogues, stopping the disaster.

Watching the two of them successfully complete the marking ceremony and seeing the members so joyful, I had no more regrets.

I went into human society to build my future.

However, I never expected that my act of fulfillment would appear so disgraceful in the eyes of outsiders.

They called me a failure in love and believed I had been expelled from the pack, forced to go to human society.

“Claire, you’re no longer the pack’s princess. You should restrain that aloof attitude of yours.”

Leon stood in front of me, his arm wrapped around Rose’s waist.

Rose’s eyes were red and swollen. Her voice choked as she said, “Claire, I don’t mind your past with Leon. I can accept it.

“Come back to live in the pack, even if as a slave.”

After saying that, Rose looked me up and down.

“And judging by your situation, you still don’t have a mate, right?

“I know Leon choosing me instead of you caused you a lot of pain. So, to make up for it, Leon and I will help you find a mate.

“An Alpha wouldn’t be suitable based on your current status, but I’ll work hard to help you find a decent Omega.”

Her words sounded extremely sincere, making many werewolves sigh at how considerate and understanding Rose was.

Not wanting to watch her performance any longer, I turned to leave.

However, as I turned, I accidentally bumped into the birthday cake Claude had prepared for me.

In the next second, Rose’s scream echoed throughout the entire hall.

She covered her mouth and pointed at the fallen cake on the ground, screaming, “Claire! That’s the birthday cake Alpha Claude prepared for his mate!

“How could you be so careless?!

“I heard the Ultima cares deeply about his mate. You’re finished!”

The birthday banquet ended amid Rose’s screams. The Alliance’s investigation was highly efficient. On the third day after the banquet, the results were already released.Back then, the rogues attacked the pack because their resources had been exhausted. As for the breach in the pack’s defenses and the leaked maps, they had all been exposed by Rose, that foolish she-wolf.She blamed everything on me. Taking advantage of my departure from the pack, she packaged it as me fleeing out of guilt. So, the pack accepted everything Rose said by default. When faced with the Alliance’s evidence, Rose shrieked and threw herself at Leon. She screamed wildly, “Leon, it’s all fake! Don’t believe it! It’s all Claire’s scheme!”However, at this moment, Leon no longer showed her the affection he once had. With a cold face, Leon pushed Rose away.“This is the Alliance’s conclusion! Wake up!”Rose then turned to look at me, her eyes filled with unwillingness.“Claire! Are you that eager to tea

Rose’s arrogance vanished instantly. Her lips trembled as she grabbed onto me.“Claire, why make things so complicated?“The members are just a little dissatisfied with you. If you apologize now, you can avoid the Alliance’s investigation altogether.”Claude wanted to speak for me, but I gently stopped him.“No need. I didn’t do anything wrong.“I won’t apologize, and I’m not afraid of an investigation.”Leon stepped forward and pulled Rose back, trying to calm her.“Rose, let the Alliance investigate. Didn’t you say Claire was the one who caused the chaos?“Then the truth will prove it.”So that was what happened. Leon had taken Rose and left early that day, and this was the truth he believed.Rose looked terrified, but suddenly she seemed to think of something.“Claude is her partner. He’ll definitely cover for her!”Claude frowned in displeasure.“The Alliance is impartial. Are you questioning the authority of the Alliance right now?”I followed up on Claude’s words.

Claude shifted to the side and avoided her.Rose fell to the ground disheveled, but she still refused to give up. “Sorry, I accidentally stepped on my dress just now. Could you help me up?”After saying that, she lifted her brows and looked at me provocatively. “Claire wouldn’t mind, right?”I smiled faintly. “Of course not.”My calmness was completely different from my past breakdowns because Claude was not like Leon. He would never do something so lacking in boundaries.Rose had pulled the exact same stunt before.Back then, when she had fallen softly into Leon’s arms, I screamed and questioned them.I couldn’t understand it. Why did she have to fall into Leon’s arms over a simple stumble when there were so many werewolves around?Just like now.At that time, Leon had helped her up with obvious concern, carefully adjusting her skirt. He even reminded her gently to avoid wearing such long dresses next time.Leon had nothing but disgust in his eyes when he said, “She’s yo

“Baby?”Amid the crowd’s shocked cries, I straightened my dress. No matter how hard I tried, though, it could no longer return to how it once looked. It was wrinkled, and one side had been torn open.Rose stared at me, disbelief written all over her face.Leon stood off to the side, stunned, as if all the strength had been drained from his body. He didn’t move at all.Seeing how disheveled I looked, Claude pulled me into his arms with visible pain in his eyes. Before everyone, the color of Claude’s pupils shifted from their original golden hue to a bloodthirsty deep red.The next second, he let out an enraged roar. The sound alone sent several weaker members flying backward. Those who remained standing clutched their heads in pain.“How dare you!”Claude’s words made Rose’s face turn deathly pale. Her body trembled as she hid in Leon’s arms.“Who was it? Who touched Claire?! Step forward!”Claude’s pressure was overwhelming. A few timid members, gripped by extreme fear, had

Rose’s cry immediately drew everyone’s attention to me.As they looked at the cake on the floor, they spoke nervously, stumbling over their words.“Alpha Claude is a devil! He’s the youngest Alliance Ultima in history, and also the most ruthless!”“He also loves his mate deeply! I heard that a werewolf accidentally touched his mate once, and he chopped off that werewolf’s hand!”I rubbed my forehead as I recalled it. That was indeed true. That werewolf had been handsy. Claude made him apologize, not realizing he had dared to touch me.Afterward, in a fit of anger, Claude cut off the hand that touched me.“If Claire ruined the Ultima’s cake, will he kill her?”I looked at the speaker in shock. Was Claude really seen as such a brutal existence within the Alliance?I’d have to make him explain this properly later. However, my shocked expression was taken as fear by the werewolves around me.Rose’s eyes were filled with the look of someone enjoying the show, yet she still prete
