But by then, I was already with pup, and I could only clench my jaw and endure it.

I knew that if I gave up treatment, there was still a chance the pup might survive.

So I stayed.

During that period, I endured excruciating pain almost every day.

Only after Liam was finally born and I heard his first cry did I completely lose consciousness.

The pack's healer worked to save me for three consecutive days before I finally opened my eyes.

As soon as I woke up, I didn't even have time to recover from childbirth before rushing to see Liam and make sure he was safe.

Now, the son I had traded half my life for was calling me a useless shewolf in front of everyone.

I lowered my head and looked at the piece of heart-shaped cookie I had picked up. There was still dirt on it.

I had baked those cookies myself early that morning. I had spent the entire morning baking Liam his favorite cookies with herbs and honey.

I even remembered how happy he had been the first time he took a bite.

But today, he crushed them without hesitation, just like how he'd crushed the last bit of dignity I had left as his mother.

I slowly gathered the broken pieces into my palm and looked up at Liam, who was still clinging to Norris.

"I'll grant your wish. Three days from now, I won't be your mother anymore," I said.
