Caspian ran with his breath caught in his throat. His heart was beating so fast, his breathing sounded so rushed, and his longer legs were trying to run even faster. He was running away from a group of men carrying rifles.
"Search until you find it; don't let go!" The shout echoed through the hustle and bustle of the city at night.
Recently, news of werewolf sightings had become a hot topic of conversation in the city of Ottawa. It has caused serious problems, as people have become afraid to go out at night. Although no victims have been found dead as a result of werewolf attacks, they still consider it a deadly threat.
Caspian jumped over the fence, then climbed the wall until he entered a room. Unfortunately, he entered the wrong room.
"Arght!” The shout sounded so resounding and deafening. The surprised Caspian immediately approached and clutched Callista's mouth.
"Shut up, or I'll kill you!" Caspian whispered in a threatening tone.
Callista fell silent with bulging eyes and bated breath. Her face looked so flushed and tense. Her heart seemed to stop beating because she was too scared. She suddenly froze.
Outside there was still the roar of people chasing her.
"I saw him jump over this fence!"
"Do we need to check it?"
"We can't enter without permission."
"I could hear screaming from over there; I think it came from Lord Kairos' stepdaughter."
Caspian, who heard the conversation, was getting more and more panicked. He couldn't be caught in his current form. He was sure he would be immediately eliminated because he was considered a threat. He needed an injection of the vaccine that was in his room so that he could change back to human form. However, she couldn't leave the room right now.
"Cally! What's wrong, dear? We heard you screaming. Did something happen?" The gentle knocking and calling made Caspian panic even more.
Callista wanted to call her mother, but her voice was stifled by the fear that was already mounting. She couldn't even move.
"Cally!" Kairos began to sound panicked. He turned the doorknob; unfortunately, the door was locked from inside the room.
"Tell them you're okay and ask them to stay away from the room." Caspian said with command. His voice was as low as the night wind, but it was bone-chilling. "If you scream, I'll break your neck."
Callista nodded slowly with fear. Her body was trembling with cold sweat pouring down her body. In her entire life, this was the first time she was in the middle of such a frightening situation.
"I-I'm fine, Mom, Dad. I was just startled by a cockroach." Callista said in a weak and trembling voice.
"Are you sure? You sound like someone who is scared. If anyone threatens you in there, let me know; I'll break down the door and beat them up." Kairos said with great concern. Although Callista was only his stepdaughter, he loved her very much.
"No, Dad. There's no one here, just me. You and Mommy don't have to worry." Callista tried to reassure.
Lysandra and Kairos were not convinced. However, since Callista had said so, they couldn't force their way in. Their attention was distracted when they heard a bell ring from the front door. A group of armed men came to their house and asked about the screams coming from Callista's room. They answered as Callista had said earlier. Not getting any results, they left.
"C-can you let me go now?" Callista asked stammeringly.
Caspian released his grip on Callista's body. He took a deep breath, then let it out slowly. He looked so frustrated, having to turn into a werewolf every night. If he did not inject the vaccine into her body, she would remain like that until the sun rose in the morning. That was a bit difficult for him, as he had a lot of activities outside the house when it was nighttime. Sometimes he doesn't always have the vaccine with her wherever he goes. So a few times he was caught wandering around at night in his werewolf form.
"You didn't see anything tonight!" Caspian said firmly, then looked at Callista sharply. He tried to give a threat so that Callista would forget what had just happened.
"I promise not to tell anyone anything." Callista promised, because she did not want to get into trouble. Moreover, she did not know who the werewolf in front of her was. She did not want to die.
Caspian looked out the window. After making sure that no one was there, he jumped straight from his step-sister's room and sneaked towards his room.
When he jumped from Callista's room, he unknowingly dropped something from his body.
As Callista approached, she picked up a silver bracelet with the initials CF. It obviously belonged to someone she knew, as she had seen it every day for the past three years. It belonged to Caspian Frostbite, her step-brother.
After picking up the bracelet, Callista started to panic when she realized something. She quickly ran out of the room, down the stairs, as she screamed for her parents.
"Mommy! Daddy! Something happened to Caspian!"
"What happened?" Orion asked breathlessly. He immediately drove to the house after receiving a phone call from Lysandra saying that Callista was hysterical.Lysandra didn't know how to respond, as she herself didn't know what had happened between Callista and Caspian."I'm scared." Callista immediately hugged Orion after he sat on the edge of the bed. She hugged him tightly, trying to hide in his broad chest."I'm here, so don't worry," Orion said softly. Just hearing those words made her understand what had happened. This must have been Caspian's doing."I heard you went to Caspian's lab and caused a commotion there, is that true? I saw Caspian's face all bruised when he came back and said it was you," Lysandra asked in a probing tone."Yes, I did it for a reason." Orion didn't deny it at all.“I don’t know what’s going on between you two, but I think you’ve gone a little too far this time. You’ve ruined his years of research. It wasn’t something he could have easily obtained. This t
Caspian kicked open Callista's bedroom door furiously. Callista, who had been sleeping, suddenly woke up. She was shocked to find Caspian standing in front of her. Not only was she shocked, but she was also terrified. After what Caspian had done to her that morning, she no longer dared to look at him for even a second. She lowered her head, hugging herself as she backed away to create space between herself and Caspian, until her back hit the headboard.Caspian, who had initially wanted to vent his frustration, suddenly froze, staring at Callista's body. She was wearing only a thin pink nightgown. Her hair was loose, and her face looked incredibly pale. For Caspian, the sight was beautiful and mesmerizing."What's going on?" Kairos and Lysandra approached the room after hearing the loud banging on the door. How could they not? The locked door swung open with just one kick from Caspian. The door was instantly shattered by him.Neither Caspian nor Callista wanted to answer. Both were fro
“How did it go? How is my daughter?” Kairos asked immediately after seeing the psychologist descend the stairs.“She seems severely depressed. She’s been through a lot lately. My advice is to not burden her anymore. The burden is already too much for her.” The woman offered her advice.“What happened? Has she told you about how she’s feeling? I want to know what really made her feel this way,” Lysandra asked, holding back tears.“She asked me not to tell you about her problems, so I won’t tell you to maintain her trust. Right now, she needs someone she can trust.” The psychologist spoke in a very convincing tone.Kairos and Lysandra couldn’t force it any longer. They didn’t want Callista’s condition to worsen. Lysandra was very certain that the problems Callista was facing were no small matter. They weren’t just a pile of college assignments. Callista wasn’t the type of girl who didn’t like to study. Since childhood, she had excelled in school. She loved studying because she had high
"Sir, the psychologist you requested is here." There was a knock and a call from the front door."Please tell him to come in!" Kairos answered loudly. The door opened, revealing a woman. Kairos looked relieved, as his assistant was adept at finding the right person. If the psychologist was a woman, Callista would be more open to talking. Women would understand each other better."I've found you a psychologist, so you can tell him anything. Perhaps he can provide a solution to your panic," Kairos explained to his daughter.Callista looked to Orion for advice. She didn't dare tell him about the werewolf in her house, or the threats she'd received from her step-brother. She had already suffered many consequences from Caspian for knowing that secret. Even now, her mental state was shaken. If she told the psychologist about it, Caspian would probably kill all three of them. She didn't want to involve anyone else in her current predicament. It was just her and
Callista joined the dining table with an indescribable feeling. Her face was grim with suppressed fear. She sat to her mother's right, directly facing Caspian, separated by the table. What Caspian had done moments ago had truly traumatized Callista. Until now, no one had ever dared to touch her intimate parts, but Caspian."Are you sick? You look so pale," Kairos asked with great concern. He was always the first to immediately notice any changes in his daughter.Callista shook her head with a faint smile. She looked down at her empty plate.Lysandra touched Callista's forehead with the back of her hand. Her temperature was normal; there was nothing wrong with her daughter's health."Still stressed about college?" Kairos guessed. Callista always had unexpected experiences every time she had to go to campus. The day before, she fainted from forcing herself to go to college. The day before, she looked depressed. It seemed college was truly taking a toll on C
The bedroom door suddenly opened while Callista was selecting clothes in the closet. She had just finished showering. Her body was still slightly damp. Only a towel covered her from chest to thighs. Callista was quite surprised, because it was Caspian who opened the door. She usually locked the door tightly when she was showering. However, this time she forgot to lock it."Get used to knocking first!" Callista said, feeling both fearful and anxious.Although Caspian was her step-brother, she didn't know what kind of man he was. They weren't born from the same womb. They hadn't grown up together. During their time as a family, her relationship with Caspian hadn't been that close. She feared Caspian would do something untoward.Callista approached the door and tried to close it again. However, Caspian held the door shut. His strength was so strong, Callista couldn't do anything."If you want to talk, wait for me outside. I'll come down after I'm dressed," Callista said in a trembling vo
