PIERRE POV
The horizon was ablaze with the fire of the setting sun, the slanting rays giving a warm tinge of red-orange to the sky, casting long shadows to the ground in its awakening. The air was pleasant to breathe, warm yet refreshing. The gentle breeze of summer brushed through the green leaves of the trees, making the eerie sound liven with the whooshing sound of the air.I stood on the solid ground, my eyes roaming all over the vast, picturesque estate spread before me. Long white pillars stretched from the ground, ascending into the sky to hold down and firmly, an opulently constructed three floors mansion, carefully carved, bent, and twisted by the experts to give an intimidating, yet lavish feeling surrounding the whole house. The walls were well painted in cream color with black accents here and there, and the stairs aligned with the little statuettes making me feel like I have stepped into an ancient Greek world. The lights from the inside seeped magnificently from the vast windows, casting warm glows around the cradle and illuminating the whole establishment. There was only one word that came to my mind when I saw the house; Breathtaking.Reluctantly, I glanced down at my small travel bag before howling it behind me, then carefully headed for the neatly carved and perfected stone stairs until I reached the foyer. Awestruck, I glanced around the enormous space and nodded to myself, with the realization that the foyer only was twice the size of my dad’s living room back in France. A pang of sadness settled heavy inside of me with the memory of him. It has been a day since I have seen him, but I already missed him terribly.Shaking off the unpleasant thoughts, I stepped towards the giant double door, then pressed the little white button mounted to the right side of the door seal. The sound of the bell tolling inside was heard, followed by deafening silence. I waited for a few seconds, my heart skipping beats with the thought of what waited for me. There was a small ping that sounded over my head, coaxing me to look up. I found a small red eye glancing down at me, then raised my hand to make a little awkward wave, hoping that whoever was staring down at me, would have mercy and be kind enough to open the door and let me in.I was worn out, and drained. All I needed right now was a good shower and maybe two hours of undisturbed sleep. Flying has never been among my favorite things to do.Almost before I could drop my arm, the door was whisked open to reveal HER. Dressed neatly in a body-hugging black dress that made her the house befitting to her image, the jewelry worth millions and a dazzling smile on her face. “Mon joli garcon.” Mom stepped out of the house before pulling me in a giant bear hug that made me feel like all my insides were pushed upwards. I tried to pry myself off her tight grip but gave up when she began rocking around with me. “Salute, Maman,” I replied flatly, hoping she would just set me down. After an eternity, she pulled back from the hug before attacking my face with kisses. I fought the sickening cringe that was clawing itself towards my face and just let her have her moment.“Vous avez tellement grandi.” She amused holding me by the sides of my head before perking my forehead. I managed a small smile before staring back to the outside where my lone travel back stood, waiting for me to claim it.“This place is amazing,” I said awkwardly reverting the topic. She glanced heavenward before revealing her pearly white teeth. “I know right, there’s no getting used to it.” She grinned, and when I didn’t say anything, she brushed her hands on her dress and then ushered me inside.“Come, let’s get you to your room.” Upon hearing her words, I made a way to turn to get my bag, but she was quick to capture my hand and started to walk down the stairs.“They will take care of it. Come on, tell me more about France.” She said smiling. I so wished she would stop smiling because it made it hard to stay mad at her. I know she was more beautiful than she has ever been, happier even, but that didn’t erase the fact that she left my dad and ran into the sunset with some American billionaire. I wasn’t against it, not at all. But it still stung that they were no longer together. I kind of loved them together.“Can I at least shower first? I stink.” I informed gently pulling my hand from hers. Her smile dropped slightly at my withdrawal, but she was quick to mask it off with yet another smile. At least she didn’t feel bad.We climbed the stairs to the third floor until we arrived on some opulent, lavishly decorated hallways. The lamps mounted on the ceiling created a warm glow that bathed us low. I mean they were two souls that created this messed-up thing called ME.“Everybody prefers low lights. Hope you don’t mind.” She announced before stepping forward, then walking down the vast carpeted hallways. I came canoodling behind her, my head spinning around my neck as I tried to make out some of the infamous paintings that hung proudly on the wall. I lost count and just decided to focus on the décor. I wasn’t much of an architect, but I knew a good thing when I saw one. This house had to be the epitome of perfection. I almost felt like a speck of dirt in its perfect being.Mom opened the door on the right side of the hallway, then spread her arms outwards.“Surprise….” She then continued to push me in and stand behind me, letting me take my surroundings all in. I turned back to stare at her face, to find her hands clamped on her chest and an idiotic grin on her face. Honestly, how could I stay mad at all that?“You like it?” She asked, her eyes sparkling expectantly as she waited for my response.“It’s perfect.” The room had to be bigger than my dad’s whole house. It was equipped with everything a teen boy could ever want. From the fanciest play station, I merely fantasized about, to a big bookshelf that lined the other side of the wall. There was a door just beside it, and another one mounted opposite to it.Facing the bed was a blue lounge area, with a full set of couches, coffee tables, and a flat-screen TV mounted on the wall. The bed was king-sized and something about… everything made me feel like I stepped into some different kind of world. This couldn’t be my room.“We will go shopping on weekend and fill your closet. Right over there, is your en-suite bathroom. You’re going to love the shower.” She made sure to pinch my cheeks before delving deeper into the room, then gestured to all the doors.“And this right here…” She gestured to the bookshelf, her face splitting into another grin, “Is for my little college man.” “Ahhmmm… I am still in high school.” I said, fighting the urge to frown at her.“Of course, but you aren’t staying in high school forever. And everything you need to know about Law is right here.” She said and started running toward me. She held me by her arms, a sweet smile marring her face.“I am happy you decided to come,” “And I am happy I came,” I said nodding to her. She pulled me in for a quick kiss before jumping backward.“Okay. Freshen up and get some rest. Everyone will be here soon and you will get to meet them.” She announced, and by everyone, I instantly knew she referred to her husband and her stepson. “Poseidon is dying to meet you.” If only I knew,EPILOGUE~ONE YEAR LATER~New York is much better seeing it live than on magazines and television. Seeing it with my own eyes made me believe that coming here was the best decision after all. I thanked the cab driver and hauled my small backpack onto my shoulder, then stared at the coffee shop in front of me. It was practically made of glass and nothing else, and man did it look fancy. I pulled out my phone to ensure that I was at the right address, then pulled on my cap before making my way through. It was early in the morning, but there were not more than 5 people. For a renowned coffee shop in the heart of Manhattan, I expected it to be flooded. But I guess that’s what you get for visiting a high-end coffee shop. I would probably look like a stain inside the marble black floors, finely polished to perfection had it not been used for Gabriel's money. If about 2 years ago, you came to me and told me I would be sitting in a coffee shop where you bought a toothpick, I would have s
PIERRE POV“SANTA WAS HEREEEEEEEEEEE. WAKE UP.” My room filled with mom’s screams as she threw herself at the foot of my bed. I fought a deep groan and took a pillow before hiding my head under it. “PUKIE COME ON. Don’t be a buzzkill.” She got to her feet before throwing herself on my side, rocking the bed for a few seconds. She scooted closer to me and hugged me, then laid her head at my back right where my neck meets my shoulders. “Poseidon told me about what happened.” I swallowed at her whispered words.“I am sorry baby.” She moved her hand up and down my arm, and a rampage of emotions slammed into my chest. For the first time since it happened, I felt something. Tears trickled down my eyes and onto the surface of the bed. I tried fighting them, but they kept coming.Mom held me in her arms until the last teardrop fell. And when the ache pacified, she ran me a bath and waited for me to freshen up.We joined Gabe and Poseidon in the lounge and sat under the tree before unwrappi
PIERRE POV “Hey. I am just gonna go out with Poseidon for a little bit. There's a little issue at Romeo's place. Will you be fine by yourself?” Sebastian’s soft brawl filled the room as he walked in, his footfalls stronger as he charged to where I was sitting. I was out of the seat in a heartbeat.“Is everything alright with him?" A hot hand wound around my waist before he set me down in my seat again.“Hmmn.” Soft lips grazed my forehead gently, causing wild butterflies to erupt like confetti in my stomach. My skin lit like a live wire, something unfurling in my chest with a roar. Something called desire. Sandalwood and home filled my nostrils, and a puzzle fell into place. Sebastian was my peace, Yes. “Just a little something. He is a grumpy piece of shit. A good beating is all he needs and he will be alright.." A warm smile diminished the poison in his words, and I found myself smiling. “Okay. Don't be gone for too long.” I stole a quick kiss on his smooth jaw, watching wit
SEBASTIAN POVSomebody once said; “if you love something, let it go. If it was meant to be, it will come back to you.”I guess it’s time to test the theory. ~~~PIERRE POVThere were a few rules I set for myself following the whole Poseidon escapade.Never be in the same room with the blue-eyed monster, unchaperoned. Never let my heart dwell on the hurt of the past. Never let my heart flutter upon the vicinity of a said somebody. I have had my fair share of heartbreak that I needed something to keep me in check. Heck, I was not even 18 yet, though I knew all there was to know about bleeding hearts and chest pains. I was doing pretty fine keeping myself in the lane with the thoughts of Sebastian accompanying me all the way. That was all until my meeting with Gabriel. Yeah well, he was really the blood of Poseidon. They do say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.Something about them just had to disrupt anything peaceful. It was as if peace was not allowed to be anywhere in
PIERRE POVMorning came sooner than I had hoped, and panic swept across my tongue like gravel when my hand came in contact with an empty, ice-cold pillow. My mind had registered for something alive and warm, not the cold that stabbed through my palm and permeated through the haze of sleep. I shot out of bed, eyes snapped wide, and pulse thrumming frantically on the sides of my head. My tongue wrung dry, and tears burned the back of my eyes as they threatened to spill.Sebastian was many things. He was a jealous lover, a possessive partner who enjoyed domination. He was everything bundled up in perfection and paleness, but he was not the kind to leave me all by myself. And the realization warmed my insides like sun rays on piles of snow.I charged towards the kitchen with my heart hammering painfully against my chest. I was just about to round the corner when I was greeted by the fresh scent of pancakes and strawberries.Fear melted to placidity when I rounded the corner and found hi
PIERRE POV“YOU KNEW?” The betrayal in Gabriel’s voice was a living entity that wrapped its fingers around my throat. A dull ache unfurled in my stomach, bloating me and filling me with hot air. I ballooned with pain and all the horrible things I could ever think of, but what I hated the most was the fact that all the anger seemed to be directed elsewhere, at my mom.Probably because she was an easy target and the nearest to feel the scorching heat of Gabriel’s wrath. It was so justified for him to be angry, but being angry at my mom made no sense. She did not play matchmaker and prepared a bed full of roses for Poseidon and I. Hell, she was just as shocked when she found out about our affaire du cœur. Talk about unfairness if you know one. “All this time, you knew that this wench has been sleeping with my son, in my fuckin’ house Adelaide, and you did not think of letting me know?” Cold fingers of fear and pain raked the length of my spine, a shiver rolling through my entire be
PIERRE POVLove is pale with black eyes and long hair. And I am the biggest, happiest fool of all time. Those were the two conclusions I came to learn after spending a week in Peddocks Islands. Nevertheless, by the time my feet touched the ground, I had pretty much settled with my heart and thought, and my mind just stamped everything into place. I guess that’s how the biggest, life-changing decisions are made. With a peaceful mind, lips pressed to the neck and a hand nuzzled in warmth. It may take a very long time to get rid of the thorn in my flesh, the ache chaffing me slowly underneath my ribs with a low thrum, and it may take a lot of fights and some highs and lows between Sebastian and me, but since the universe brought us together, I was never going to leave his side. It was him that fate brought me to, and it was him my soul sang for. That only was enough to seal everything into place,As for who made my heart jump, and my skin buzz, that was the last thing I wanted to dw
PIERRE POVThe tension was louder than the crackling of the wood in the raging fire, slicing through the air with a sound much rowdier than the plastic wraps when they collided with the hard, carpeted floor. I was shaking and still spooked from what had just happened, and I fell back to the couch like a dead weight of muscles and bones. I had an unmistakable thrum on two sides of my head, the adrenalin wearing off leaving my body tingling and my pulse skyrocketing. My eyes were snapped so wide that air felt like the tips of the dirty toothpick that kept pricking my eyeballs. I have never seen Sebastian so angry before. Forget about Queen B and her extensions that were plucked out, she brought THAT to herself. Even Poseidon’s charade of saving the damsel in distress was pretty much predicted. We saw it in a mile. One for sure was that she was not going to let her be wronged, not while he was there and still breathing. Poseidon may bang his fist against the ground and proclaim that
PIERRE POVIt was much more than I had expected. We were once again sitting in the lounge, stomachs full, with the sound of fire roaring in the distance. I was sitting front and center of the room, legs folded Indian style as I continued losing my head over the pleasantries I found because honey; they were more than pleasant. The mood was the easy one with everyone over with the whole hunt thing, and I was lavished entirely by their attention as my finger worked on yet another box of the many I had found during the hunt. At some point, I thought that Poseidon had given me some cheat map so that I can horde everything to myself because What in the actual hell?Although I had an almost permanent grin on my face, I just couldn’t help the nervous uneasiness that trickled through my body like molten lava, slow and unbothered heating my skin here and there with a kindled flame. In my busy state and the foolproof bubble, Sebastian wrapped me in, I was very much aware of that icy cold se
