"Oh hi Xander! It's good to see you!" I said while he kissed me on the cheek as a greeting.
"It's been two weeks since our dinner. I'm sorry I haven't contacted you after." Xander said.
"Don't worry about it." I saw he's with someone and asked. "A date?"
"Yeah. You know, son's filial duty." He smiled then glanced at Kyle. "A date?" He smiled.
"Oh no! This is my friend, Kyle. Kyle, this is Xander."
"Hi! Nice to meet you!" Kyle smiled and shook Xander's hand.
"By the way, would you like to watch a movie on Friday?" Xander asked.
"How about we go with Kyle and his date? They'll watch a movie as well this Friday." I don't know why I suddenly said something like that. I know it's Kyle's date but somehow I'm not in the mood to go alone with Xander.
I looked at Kyle as if telling him what I'm thinking.
"Yeah sure. No problem. The more, the merrier." He said, smiling at me.
"Great! It's a double date then! So see you on Friday!" Xander left with his girl as we continued to stroll in the mall.
"I'm sorry. I'll be ruining your date."
"No. It's fine. I think it's better so you can meet Lily and tell me your thoughts about her." He said. Again, I felt something just pricked my heart.
"Maybe you can tell me your thoughts about Xander as well." I simply said.
"Is he courting you? Why is he with another girl?" He asked, frowning.
"Relax. We met at a family dinner. His family was looking for a candidate for marriage. You know some families were old fashioned. I was one of those candidates. Though this is the first time he actually asked me out so I was hesitant. I don't want to be alone with him." I explained.
"I see. Don't worry, I'll protect you." He said in a gentle voice then winked at me.
My heart skipped a beat and I was really happy.
Kyle dropped me off at Queen's later that day. Peggy and Nina saw him so he was dragged inside the house.
"Alora, look who's here!" They said in unison.
Alora was at the garden having tea with Zoey and Sophie. Zoey was the 6-year old girl who's currently under Luke's and Alora's care. She was like their daughter and our niece.
"Hello Zoey! You're still awake." I said.
"Dad is at his study with the boys and mom is lonely, so I'm here to accompany her." We laughed at what she said.
"By the way, this is Kyle, my friend." I said, introducing Kyle to her.
"Hello! Oh another uncle! I'm Zoey. I'm staying here for a while because my biological father is dead and mom is in the hospital. But don't worry I'm not sad, I have my foster parents here and foster aunts and uncles." Zoey was really our bundle of joy. She's bright and cheerful.
"Nice to meet you Zoey."
"Kyle, since your here, why don't you go to Luke's office instead of talking to him on Saturday. He'll be delighted to see you." Alora said.
Kyle nodded and a servant guided him to where the boys were.
"So?" Sophie asked.
They were all looking at me as if something was on my face.
"What?" I asked frowning.
"You've been hanging around with Kyle lately so we thought, you know." Peggy exclaimed.
I sighed. "You know he's not the type of guy I want to date. He's ordinary and old fashioned."
Everyone stared at me quietly. Alora drank her tea and put the cup down.
"Emily, we don't want to meddle about your relationship. We know your ideal guy has been set by you already but your closeness with him is giving a different story. We just don't want you to get hurt and regret everything in the end."
She's really like a mother to us. Her words keep repeating in my mind.
"I know. But I only see him as a friend. And he's the same. We actually have a double date on Friday." I started telling them about Xander and Kyle's date on Friday to change the topic.
The boys came into the garden to join us for tea. My friends all found their partners except me. Alora with Luke, Peggy with Jayden, Nina with Andrew and Sophie with Percy.
I always feel left out when I'm with them so I always bring some random guy every time we hang out.
I was startled when someone tapped me on the shoulder. It was Kyle smiling at me as if saying that it's okay. Somehow he can read me. He can actually see through me, my thoughts and my feelings.
"So everyone, starting tomorrow Kyle will be staying here." Luke announced.
"What?" I was surprised. I saw Kyle scratching his head.
"Ahm. I actually applied at Luke's company a month ago but I arrived late so I wasn't able to attend the initial interview. Apparently, Luke investigated me when I met you and found out about it. He offered me a job but my place is far from A.E Tower so he asked me to stay here until I can stand on my own." He said.
"Investigated? Why did you do that? And you said you were studying to be a doctor. There's nothing related to Luke's company." I stood up and questioned Luke and Kyle, almost yelling.
"Emily it's only natural for Luke to investigate everyone who got close to us. You understand that right?" Alora said calmly.
I sat down in surrender. I was honestly embarrassed by the way I acted. I know Luke did that for me. Ever since he found out that there are people who are trying to hurt us, especially Alora, he'll investigate the people around us.
"I'm really studying to be a doctor but I'm actually a graduate in Engineering and Information Technology. I took several courses." Kyle explained.
"Are you that old?" I asked. Everyone laughed.
"I'm already 23." So he's 6 years older than me.
"Why don't we take a rest now. Tomorrow we'll go to Azalea so we can go shopping." Alora said.
"You need another hundred clothes?" Sophie teased.
"No silly. Well, Kyle needs to have a major transformation so we'll have to use our magic." She continued while we looked at Kyle from head to toe.
The last time we went to Azalea, Alora met one of her kidnapper's lackey. So Luke was a little more dramatic this time. One hundred men were dispatch lined up in front and inside Azalea. They made sure no one was inside except us and the staff. "Is this really necessary? Is the president coming?" Kyle whispered. His sarcasm sometimes is really funny. "A lot happened lately so Luke is so obsessed with everybody's safety especially Alora. It's hard to be the fiance of the most richest guy in the country." I said. "But that's what you want right? A rich guy." He said. I don't know if he said it to tease me or if he sounded bitter. Alora let me chose Kyle's clothes while they go around the store. Azalea is a huge clothing store in Northbay City Mall. The store itself has 5 floors with 10 sections. "Emily, I think 2-3 clothes are enough. I can't afford more than that." Kyle said when he saw more than 20 suits in front of him. "You'l
Kyle was smiling at me when he saw me walking towards them. The girl next to her is prettier than I imagined. She's wearing a simple pink top and jeans. Her shoulder length curly brown hair tied in half added to her mature aura. You can still appreciate her beauty because of her simplicity. I felt a sudden pain in my heart again. It wasn't supposed to be like this. I shouldn't be feeling this way. I should be happy for him. I tried my best to smile and tease him. "Is this Lily? Nice to meet you! I'm Emily." I kissed her on the cheek as a greeting. She gave me a sweet smile as a response. "Lily, this is my friend Emily Blair of the Nitori Clan." Kyle formally introduced me to her.
I went to the garden before going to my room to think. I already agreed to go out with Xander tomorrow. He offered to be a distraction for my broken heart. I went to where the tulips were. They’re my favorite flower because they fascinate me, not knowing how beautiful they will be when it blooms. It gives me a positive effect and my heart feels at ease whenever I see them. The smell of the different flowers in the garden made me feel happy for a moment, as I took a deep breath. "You're here. I was looking for you." I was startled when someone spoke. It was Kyle. Great! The one person I didn’t want to see today. I didn't want to look at him so I just kept on walking, but I can sense that he's following me. "Why did you go with Xander? And didn't even tell me. I went h
Few weeks have passed and I've never set foot in Queen's. The girls didn't ask me and I know they're just waiting for me to tell them what happened. I tried to keep myself busy by going out with Xander and my friends to forget about Kyle. Xander is so nice and has taken care of me ever since that day. He also didn't go out with another woman but me. He didn't ask further about Kyle. Months passed and somehow I feel like Xander is slowly having a soft spot in my heart. I still think about Kyle though and the times that we were together. It was just short but I don't know why I fell in love with him. Maybe they're right. You easily fall when you're young. Maybe because we were together almost everyday, and he was the first person who easily understood me. Xander is somehow different from him. He was serious a
I tensed. I felt my knees weaken. Why is he here? Did Xander invite him? I felt Xander squeezed my waist. I looked at him and he was smiling. As if he understands what I'm thinking. He then got closer to me and whispered in my ear. "Hey relax. Focus on me." He said. I felt his warm breath in my neck. It gave me chills. I nodded and smiled. I took my eyes away from him and just followed Xander as he guided me to our seat. Everyone was so happy and greeted us. Xander introduced me to his family as well as to his friends and business partners. Xander is the eldest son of the Remington. His family owned the largest convenience store chain worldwide named Remington's and various restaurants in the country.
"What?" I was dumbfounded from what he said. Did I hear him correctly? He's in love with me? Why would he tell it to me now? Is he trying to confuse my feelings? "Emily, I've been in love with you for a long time." He said it again. I frowned. My heart was beating so fast but my blood boils. "Why are you telling this to me now? A-Are you playing with me?" I asked, almost shouting. "No I wasn't. It's the truth." He said in a serious tone. "Don't you dare tell me that it's the truth. You have Lily. I saw you kissing after the date." "She kissed me. And yes, we're dating. But she knows I'm in love with someone else. She just didn't
Kyle was crying when he left me in the garden. When he turned his back and walked away from me, I wanted to chase him. But I know it would be harder and more painful to both of us if I did. I broke down crying. If only I have the courage to turn my back from my family. If only I wasn't the first born of the Nitori Clan. I could freely love him. I felt someone touched my shoulder. I thought Kyle came back but it was Alora and the girls. Peggy kneeled and hugged me. I cried and cried. I don't know how long but they let me cry and didn't say a word. I know they're waiting for me to tell them what happened. "It hurts so much. Why does it have to be like this? Why did it end like that? For once, I hated being a Nitori. If only my family would understand this pain. I have so many questions in my mind."
I stayed in my room for a couple of days and never went out. The maids will just bring me food from breakfast till dinner. I know Alora ordered them to take care of me. I decided not to leave Queen's even though Kyle lives here. The girls were trying to cheer me up, asking me to hang out with them but I'm not really in the mood. Xander was very understanding and gave me time to think about everything. He sends me messages everyday reminding me to eat properly, sleep early, he tells me that he misses me and he loves me. I was laying on the bed when someone knocked at the door. It was Alora. Somehow, I feel like she wanted to tell me something. She walked inside my room and I was just looking at her. She was like a queen when she entered, her usual cold aura added to h
