Angel

The metallic smell of blood had my stomach turning as I rushed to the girl bound to a chair, a ball gag on her mouth and crimson moisture coating her grey dress and white blond hair. Her eyes were closed, even though I was pretty sure she wasn’t unconscious, dead, or sleeping.

Without hesitation, I elongated my nails into Dora’s sharp claws and broke the chain around her neck. I braced myself to the upcoming burning sensation touching the metal would bring, but nothing came. It wasn’t of cursed-silver, but something else.

“Angie, she might be dangerous. She is a vamp. Help her and run.” Cal’s words had me gasping. Since when were my black wolf cautions? She might have unintentionally taken Gran’s advice to her furry heart. Her mouth curled up onto an annoyed snarl.

“She isn’t dangerous,” Dora reassured me. I didn’t know how she knew it, but I trusted her instincts. Besides that, something warm radiated from my birthmark, washing me over with sweet tingles. Weird!
