Chapter Twenty Six

I waited for the doctor attending to Aaron in the waiting room for twenty minutes before he finally came out.

I called Beatrice, my manager, to tell everyone to go home and close the studio.

It has been from one chaos to another since I opened my studio and I blamed Lawson for the cause of them all

“Madam, the patient just regained consciousness, but has lost too much blood, therefore will need enough rest. You can see him now, but don't make him talk too much.” The doctor informed me.

I quickly rushed to the ward where Aaron was admitted.

I called my parents before going in to check on Aaron.

“ Dad, Lawson caused trouble again, he injured Aaron and we are in the hospital. Lawson is not the type of person you think he is, he is a psychopath. I can't continue this marriage. Look for a way to pay off his money”. I made it clear to him.

He was lying helplessly on the bed.

“Aaron, I am very sorry for making you go through all of this. I take the responsibility, it's my fault”. I pleaded.

“ Don't say that Rachel, I know it's not your fault. Your husband should take responsibility for his actions”. Aaron said.

“Please don't talk too much, we will talk about this when you feel better, besides the doctor said you shouldn't talk too much”.

“ What should I get for you? Food, fruits, or water”. I asked.

“ I am okay for now, but you can get me fruits later”. 

My phone rang and it was Roselyn telling me she is in the hospital but doesn't know which ward we are in.

I went downstairs to take her to Aaron's ward.

“ How did it happen so suddenly” she wanted to know what had happened.

I explained to her and she was shocked that Lawson could accuse me of such despite what was on the ground.

“ He must surely face the wrath of the Law for his action. How can he do such a thing to an innocent guy like Aaron? He must pay dearly for this”. She concluded.

“I must take this up myself, who does he think he is to act this way?” It's obvious she was angry

She excused herself after a few minutes to go back to her workplace.

After forty minutes, I saw Roselyn call again and I wondered why she called back.

“ Rachel, please give the phone to Aaron, I want to talk to him.” She said while I passed the phone to him.

I didn't hear what she said on the other end but I noticed Aaron was surprised and I was eager to know what happened.

He passed the phone back to me.

“ Babe, your husband is nowhere to be found, he ran away,” she told me.

“ He ran away? How do you know that?”. Wondering how she got to know that.

“I am in your house right now with the police, we have also been to the office but he was nowhere to be found. Do you know where he can be?” she asked 

“ You reported Lawson to the police?” I wanted to be sure

“ Yes I did, he deserves it, he should pay for his offence”.

“ That's none of my business, what I am concerned about is for Aaron to be well and okay. I don't know where he could have run to since we are not together”. I made her understand.

I ended the call and asked Aaron if he was aware of what Roselyn did.

“ Of course I wasn't informed, she told me when you passed the phone to me now. Anyways it's the right step to take, I won't let it slide when I am discharged. I appreciate Roselyn for helping me while I am here”. Aaron said.

I couldn't say anything, what Lawson did was truly bad and needed to be cautioned but I don't know if I will be pleased if he is charged in court and sent to prison.

I ordered food for us to eat and made sure he was okay and stable before I left for Roselyn's house.

I got to Roselyn's house but she hasn't gotten back. 

I saw Roselyn in the morning and we had to talk.

“ Rosie, were you able to see Lawson yesterday? I asked 

“ Yes, he was apprehended at a clubhouse in Queens. Is he entitled to a lawyer because he will be charged in court tomorrow?” 

“ Tomorrow? Why is it that quick?”

“ Yes it's tomorrow, and you were the witness”. 

“ That can't be, how will I be a witness to send my husband to jail, afterall we are not yet divorced. One of my girls can be the witness”. I suggested.

“ Oh that's good, that is a good option. She should be ready to testify in court tomorrow, how will I get in touch with her?”. She asked.

“ That shouldn't be a problem, I will get someone available in the studio tomorrow.”

“ This will be a tough time for you, don't think I am a wicked person for doing this to your husband, he deserves to be taught a lesson for treating people anyhow.” She pleaded.

“ I understand and I am not against your stand on this issue. It's okay”.

I dropped by the hospital to check up on Aaron and he will be discharged soon, then I went to see how the staff are doing in the studio.

“ Who witnessed what happened between Lawson and Aaron that caused Aaron to be hospitalized?” I asked gently.

“ I witnessed everything from the beginning to the end Ma'am” That was Beatrice.

“ Good, Aaron is charging Lawson in court and you would be the witness against Lawson. Get ready to go to court tomorrow”.

“ A witness against Mr Lawson? I don't think I can do it”. She was afraid of her look.

"Don't tell me you are scared of Lawson?

Just say what you saw, you are not lying against him, you need to say how it is”. I persuaded her.
