Defence Questions Beatrice
Defence Attorney:
Miss Williams, you said the defendant dismissed you from your previous job, correct?
Beatrice:
Yes
Defence Attorney:
So you were fired by him?
Beatrice:
Yes
Defence Attorney:
And now you work for his wife?
Beatrice:
Yes
Defence Attorney:
Would it be fair to say you might have negative feelings towards the defendant?
Beatrice:
No, I'm here to tell the truth.
Defense Attorney:
Are you certain he didn't do or say anything to provoke my client?
Beatrice:
I didn't see him do anything.
Defense Attorney:
But you were not standing right next to them, were you?
Beatrice:
No, but I could see clearly.
Defence Attorney:
The situation was heated, correct?
Beatrice:
Yes
Defence Attorney:
People were arguing, emotions were high?
Beatrice:
Yes
Defence Attorney:
So it's possible you didn't catch every single detail.
Beatrice:
I saw enough.
Defence Attorney:
Enough to assume, perhaps?
Prosecutor:
Objection my lord.
Judge:
Sustained, Rephrase.
Defence Attorney:
No further questions.
Judge
Judge:
The witness may step down.
As Beatrice walks past Lawson, he stares at her coldly and she avoids his eyes.
Prosecutor Calls Aaron The Victim

The people called Aaron Cole to the stand.
Court Clerk:
Mr Aaron Cole, please come forward.
Aaron walks slowly as everyone watches. He is still recovering.
Court Clerk:
Raise your right hand. Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?
Aaron:
I do.
Court Clerk:
You may be seated.
Prosecutor Questions Aaron.
Prosecutor:
State your name.
Aaron:
Aaron Cole
Prosecutor:
Mr Cole, do you know the defendant, Lawson Webmar?
Aaron:
I didn't know him personally… I only knew he was Rachel's husband.
Prosecutor:
Let us talk about the day of the incident. Where were you?
Aaron:
I was in Rachel's studio, in her office.
Prosecutor:
What happened when you stepped outside?
Aaron:
I saw Rachel arguing with her husband, I didn't want to interfere, so I turned to go back inside.
Prosecutor:
Did anything happen as you turned away?
Aaron:
Yes, he said something like, “So you are the one she is staying with”. Before I could even respond, he hit me.
Prosecutor:
What did he do exactly?
Aaron:
He punched me in the face, then kept hitting, I wanted to defend myself but he overpowered me because he kept me unaware.
Prosecutor:
What happened after that?
Aaron
I started bleeding, I felt dizzy, then everything went black.
Prosecutor:
Do you remember anything after that?
Aaron:
No, I woke up in the hospital.
Prosecutor:
How did this incident affect you?
Aaron:
I had injuries to my face, and I still couldn't walk properly, it was painful.
Prosecutor
Thank you, no further questions.
Defence Questions Aaron.
Defence Attorney:
Mr Cole, you said you didn't interfere. But you were staying with Rachel, right?
Aaron:
Yes, as a friend.
Defence Attorney
Were you involved in a personal situation between a husband and a wife?
Aaron:
I wasn't involved in their argument.
Defence Attorney:
But you understood the situation could upset her husband?
Aaron:
That doesn't justify what he did to me.
Defence Attorney:
Please just answer the questions, did you say anything to the defendant before he hit you?
Aaron:
No
Defence Attorney:
Nothing at all.
Aaron:
No
Defence Attorney:
You expect this court to believe you said absolutely nothing?
Prosecutor:
Objection, argumentative.
Judge:
Sustained.
Defence Attorney:
No further questions.
Prosecutor Calls The Doctor.
Prosecutor:
Doctor, what is your profession?
Doctor:
I am an emergency physician.
Prosecutor:
Did you treat Aaron Cole?
Doctor:
Yes, I did.
Prosecutor:
What condition was he in?
Doctor:
He had facial trauma, significant bleeding from the mouth, and signs of concussion.
Prosecutor:
Were these injuries serious?
Doctor:
Yes, they were consistent with repeated blunt force (blows) to the face.
Prosecutor:
Could such injuries occur from a single punch?
Doctor:
Unlikely, it suggests multiple strikes.
Prosecutor:
Thank you, no further questions.
Defence Questions Doctor
Defence Attorney:
Doctor, you were not present at the scene, correct?
Doctor:
Yes
Defence Attorney:
So you cannot say exactly how the injuries occur.
Doctor:
Only that they are consistent with repeated blows.
Defence Attorney:
But not who caused them.
Doctor:
No
Defence Attorney:
No more questions.
Judge:
Defence you may proceed.
Defence Attorney:
The defence calls Lawson Webmar.
He walks to the stand and tension increases in the courtroom.
Defence Attorney:
Mr Webmar, why were you at the studio that day?
Lawson:
I want to talk to my wife.
Defence Attorney:
What happened when you saw Aaron?
Lawson:
I was angry, I thought he was interfering in my marriage.
Defence Attorney:
Did you intend to seriously harm him?
Lawson:
No, I lost control.
Prosecutor Attacks
Prosecutor:
You “lost control” and punched him repeatedly
tedly?
Lawson:
Yes
Prosecutor:
Even after he fell?
Lawson:
I… I don't remember clearly.
Prosecutor:
But you remember enough to run away, correct?
(Silence)
Lawson:
Yes.
Prosecutor:
No further questions.
Judge:
(Serious tone) After hearing both parties, namely the prosecutor and the defence counsel, this court will reserve judgment. The matter is adjourned until next week for a decision.
Court Clerk:
Court
This is unbelievable; is this not the same Lawson who promised me heaven and earth? At first, I wondered what I had done to him that made him change his mind towards me, but I concluded that he wasn't a baby who didn't know what he wanted.I thought we now had a perfect home since I can see traces of him changing, and the way he supported me in the last few days, but it's clear to me now that he has chosen the path he wants to follow and the way he wants to find happiness. We can find how we chose to be happy separately, and I can say I would also find a way to. I went upstairs, freshened up, and retired to my bed. I slept as if nothing had happened. I promised myself not to react or say anything about what happened between Sussie and Lawson tonight. The next morning, I woke up healthy and sound. I went downstairs and saw Caroline in the kitchen preparing breakfast. I don't feel like seeing or talking to either Sussie or Lawson. “ Good morning Caroline, can you please make my breakf
I think Grace explained what happened in my house when she got home. I finished eating, and Caroline brought my phone because I had a call.I didn't want to pick up the call since it's my Dad, but I gave it a second thought and answered it.“ Hello, Dad, it's been a while, I am good. Nothing happened, we are fine. Lawson sends his regards too. Bye.” I didn't give him any chance to feel pity for me. But deep down, I am not fine with what's happening.I had a second thought about why Dad could be calling. It might be that he wanted to query why I had to call the officers for Grace or why we chased her out of our home, not feeling any pity for me because someone got pregnant for my husband. I didn't even give him a chance to ask questions. But something is not clear to me. Why is Grace questioning Lawson when he asked her to leave? Is there something I need to know or is there something they are not telling us?I will keep an eye on them.We retired to the bed for the night and it occurr
The look on Grace’s face when she saw Sussie was indeed questionable. And even though she asked the question as if she owned the house.“ I am carrying Lawson's baby, that's why I am staying here.” She responded.I barely made it upstairs when I heard Grace screaming, which gave me no choice but to go back downstairs to intervene.“ Why won't these people allow me to rest for crying out loud, it's just from one problem to the other." I voiced our loudI got downstairs and discovered it was Sussie and Grace again. What could be the problem? Do they know each other from somewhere or what could be the reason they are shouting at each other?“ You got pregnant for who?” I heard Grace ask Sussie who was perfectly seated on the sofa.“ What's your problem with that? And how is it your business? Rachel being Lawson's wedded wife didn't complain, so I don't know why you are being dramatic here.” She said gently“ You can't be pregnant with my sister's husband, they are legally married so it's
I arrived at work unhappily, you should know the reason for that. Now that I think I have finally accepted to be wholly, I prayed he would change into a better person as promised and live happily ever after.I promise myself not to be dramatic during the whole pregnancy situation, and if Lawson happens to be the father of the child, I will adopt the child if it were mine.“Rachel, where are you?” Grace is shouting from outside my studio“ You don't want to answer me right? You'd better come out. I know you are in your office, come out.” She was shouting at the top of her voice outside.“ Your sister is outside creating a scene, we don't know what the problem was, she doesn't want to come in, but she insists you come outside”. She said hurriedly and left.I peeked through the blinds and saw her pacing outside the studio, yelling my name loud enough to turn heads across the block. My hands shook as I grabbed my phone. I don't want any drama from Grace, not today.I dialled an emergency
She looked at me as if she should give me a slap, but I ignored her and led the way to the room we wanted to appoint for her.“ This will be your room, stay where you are asked to stay, and don't trespass”. I said and was about to leave. Lawson was behind me looking like a lost sheep.“How can this untidy room be my room? I need a room upstairs, don't forget I am carrying Lawson's child.” She stood outside the room, she didn't want to go inside. The room is not untidy, it's beside Caroline’s room. It was the room Lawson locked me in when he brought those girls. It's not that bad. I cleaned it when I was staying there.“ You can't get any room upstairs, so you should stay here. The room upstairs is not for an Intruder like you. You can't come here from nowhere and start ordering people around just because you are carrying a baby that hasn't been confirmed as mine”. He said and went upstairs.“ I know it's this witch you call your wife that is controlling you, how can you put your baby
What do you mean by that statement? You barge into someone's house very early in the morning, and you dare to talk trash” I fired back. She looked at me from head to toe with a disdainful expression, hissed, and then looked at Lawson.“ Lawson, what is going on here? Tell me it's not what I am thinking?” She wanted an answer for whatever she was thinking at that moment. She was fully in the sitting room now, as Lawson left the doorway to sit on the sofa.“ I don't know whatever thing you are thinking but let me clear the air, I am Mr Lawson’s lawful wedded wife, therefore standing right before you here is Mrs Lawson.” I dropped the bombshell and sat beside my husband.I can tell she was shocked, it was very obvious to the extent that she couldn't control it“You must be joking, Lawson, tell me that what this harlot said is nothing but a lie.” She faced him but Lawson kept mute and I hung onto him.“Lawson says something, is it true you are married? No wonder you always ignore my calls
Roselyn called to inform me she will be coming over to my place today.“Hi, babe. Send your address, and I will see you soon.”I am so happy to see her again; at least I will have someone to chat with and be free from boredom.I quickly sent the address and voila, she was here in no time. She excla
Roselyn was my best friend in high school, there is nothing about me that she didn't know, and vice versa. Anywhere you see her, I will definitely be there. We loved each other so much. She was my gist partner, some even thought we were sisters.I was devastated when she left unannounced. I kept go
Grace was nowhere to be found, and Mom was lying sick on the bed.I had vowed never to have anything to do with both Mom and Grace again since they betrayed me, but Mom needs someone beside her at this moment and I also need to know Grace's whereabouts.I picked up my phone to call her but I wasn't
Everything seemed normal after I poured out my mind to Lawson. That was actually how I felt, and I was calmed by the way he didn't say anything but just let me do the talking. He seems to act with caution afterwards. Should I say he was scared to lose me or he was afraid I would do worse than what
