~ Rose  pov~

Rose had never been like the other girls.

While her classmates laughed loudly in hallways, jumped from party to party, and bragged about boyfriends and hookups, Rose stayed tucked inside her shel, quiet, shy, and forever labeled the nerd.

 She had been top of her class for so long that she couldn’t even remember when it started. Being naturally bright was the only thing people associated her with.

She still lived with her parents, who treated her like a delicate little child. They meant well… but she hated it. All she wanted was to be like the other girls her age, free, wild, choosing their own lives, sneaking out at night, kissing whoever they wanted. Rose wanted all that too. Wanted it desperately.

Instead, her life was a dull cycle of home and school, school and home.

No fun. No rebellion. No parties.

And no boyfriend, despite the countless crushes she never dared act on.

It disgusted her sometimes, how boring her days were. It felt like she was living a life meant for someone from another planet.

“Rose!”

Her mother’s voice cut through her thoughts, calling from downstairs. A sigh fell from Rose’s lips. Evening was usually her time to hide away in her room with her books and daydreams, her extremely boring daydreams, but still.

She walked down to find her beautiful mother waiting with the home phone in hand.

“There’s someone for you,” her mother said.

Rose took the phone quickly, curious about who would call the house instead of her personal number.

“Hello…?” she said.

“Hello, Miss Linn Rose,” a formal voice replied. “We’re calling to inform you that you have been offered a place at our university, based on your application submitted three weeks ago.”

Rose froze. Then her heart erupted like fireworks.

This couldn’t be real.

She had applied almost secretly, not expecting anything. For the first time in her entire life, she had done something for herself, something not planned or controlled by her parents.

Her parents didn’t mistreat her, nothing like that. But they decided everything. Every step, every choice, every breath of her existence was somehow theirs to manage. And Rose hated it.

Not even once had she been allowed to have a boyfriend, despite liking so many boys at school.

Not even once had she been allowed a life.

But now...

Now she had been accepted into a university far, so far from home.

For the first time, her parents had agreed she could choose the university she wanted. And this was her chance. Her escape. Her beginning.

Her bucket list, barely touched until now, might finally start moving.

“Thank you… thank you so much,” she whispered, her voice trembling.

After she hung up, she pressed the phone to her chest.

“Thank you, God,” she breathed.

This, this moment, was the best thing that had ever happened to her.

She hurried down the stairs to tell her parents, her heart racing with excitement. She would be leaving in two days. Two days until freedom. Two days until she could finally start living the life she dreamed of.

Her freaky, wild, rebellious, thrilling dreams.

Her real life. That was what her mind wanted. 

It was what she always wanted, to get away from home and experience all those things like a normal youth.

She would like to have a Lover, to kiss freely and even get to have sex . All these would only be possible if at all she left the house of her parents. But this was the perfect moment for all this .
