My phone buzzing violently is what stirs me out of bed. I pull out the phone from the bedstand close to me, and with one eye open, I unplug it and look at the screen. I sigh at the name; it was not a surprise to me that she was calling.

"What do you want?"

"That is no way to talk to your mother."

"It's barely five am, and you are already waking me up to probably talk about something useless," I say and then let out a yawn, sitting up in bed and rubbing my eyes gently. Lucien lay still on the bed, and I have to get out of bed so I do not wake him up for no reason.

"Shouldn't you be awake already? Tending to the needs of your husband?" She spat out, obviously mad at something else.

"I learnt from you, and I have never seen you do that," I say, and I could imagine her livid, with her eyes flaring with anger as she balled her fingers into a fist, ready to slam them into my face. "You do not do it for your extremely successful husband, so why should I do it for mine?"

Yvette thought she could ring Nirelle at FIVE in the morning and pull the “I’m your mother, so obey me” card. And Nirelle said, 'Not today, Satan.'
