ALPHA WAYLON

It's already midnight but I can't sleep well. I've been rolling and tossing on this bed for hours without getting any sleep.

All my thoughts are on Adeline, my newly found mate. I can't stop thinking about her and her affection towards me. It's evident that she clearly loves me, as much as I do.

However, I'm not at peace, knowing that she's down there at the maids' quarters while I'm up here, in my luxurious apartment, lying on my cosy bed. The only thing I can't afford right now is sleep! I wish she had accepted to come upstairs and start living with me, even if it's in a different room.

I try to sleep but when everything fails, I decide to call her and just hear her voice. It's quite surprising how obsessed with her I am, yet I'm old enough to be her father. Well, it's the work of the moon goddess... mate bond doesn't care about age gap.

It's around three in the morning when I decide to call her but she isn't picking. Her phone rings till the call ends by itself. Well, I just sigh and decide to wait for morning to come so as to see her. I just assume that her phone is on silent mode since it's night time and it can't ring for her to hear it.

I try to catch some sleep and it's only at around four in the morning when sleep finally takes over me.

I'm woken up by Debra knocking at my door and calling out my name.

"Debra, what is it?" I ask her since it's at around six in the morning. I doubt she had already prepared breakfast. "It's too early to wake me up." I complain.

"Come quickly sir, I can't seem to find Adeline!" She blurts out.

"What? My Adeline? Where on earth could she be?" I ask as I climb out of bed and slip into my slippers. "Have you checked the bathroom? Have you checked the whole Pack House? Have you tried calling her?" I ask simultaneously.

"Pamela and I have checked everywhere and her phone is in her room. She left her room open and her phone was on the bed." Debra explains.

"What? I'm coming!" I say and I hear her run back downstairs. I exit my room without bothering to lock it and head towards Jaxon's floor so as to inform him but I'm surprised when I don't find him in his room. Where could he be? I try calling his number but he's unreachable.

Either way, I stop bothering about Jaxon's whereabouts and I run downstairs to Adeline's room. I ransack it, looking for any clue which could lead me to her but it's all in vain. All I can see is her phone with several missed calls from me.

Could she have escaped from the Pack House.

Could she have succeeded this time round?

Oh, no!

She can't slip out of my fingers in such a manner!

Her clothes and bags are all in the wardrobe and I suddenly wonder why she decided to leave everything behind, if she has truly escaped.

Or maybe she doesn't want to be found?

"Moon goddess, please help me locate Adeline." I plead with mother goddess while still in Adeline's room. If someone kidnapped her, let them not harm her and kindly direct me to her.

I head back upstairs to my bedroom and dress up in jeans and a t-shirt and then head back downstairs where Debra calls me to have breakfast but I can't hear any of it. How do I sit down and have breakfast like the Alpha that I am while my mate is out there. She might be in danger and I have a weird feeling that all is not well!

"I'm leaving, Debra. I have to look for my mate." I say to her and she nods then says.

"We've looked for her all over the Pack House but she's nowhere to be seen. Where could she have gone to?" She asks.

"I don't know but I have a feeling that I'll find her soon enough!" I respond as I walk out of the Pack House but before I exit completely, my phone rings and I fish it out of my pocket. It's a video call.

"Hello." I respond to the call and immediately I see Adeline's face, I panic, having realized that she's in danger. However, I keep my composure so as not to sell myself out. "Adeline, why did you leave me?" I ask and I can definitely tell that my voice is shaky.

"I-i-" Adeline says while trembling. She's visibly shaken. I crane my neck to see if I can recognize the people with her but I can't see anyone. However, I hear someone commanding her to reject me and tell me that she ran away with Jaxon. Adeline hesitates but she's commanded to talk. That's when I talk yet again, hoping to save the situation.

"Baby, where are you?" I ask.

"Alpha, Jaxon kidnapped me!" She blurts out immediately but before I can say anything, the call disconnects from the other side.

"Moon goddess, please protect her." I plead with our mother goddess. "She's all that I have!" I add while looking around for my men.

"Debra, please call Trevor for me, I need him immediately!" I say to her since she's standing nearby listening to our conversation.

"Is Adeline safe? Where is she? Did they hurt her?" Debra asks but I can't answer her at the moment.

"Debra please," I say, already running out of patience, "call Trevor for me!"

"Okay Alpha," she says as she exits the Pack House.

Trevor is one of the guards as well as our trusted IT expert. My aim is to give him my phone and ask him to trace the location where Adeline called from for me. That way, I'll be able to rush there with my men and rescue her before something bad happens to her.

Trevor arrives immediately and we both head to my office to check the location on my laptop. He gets to work immediately after pressing some buttons on the laptop as well as on my phone.

Two minutes later, he looks up at me happily and then declares, "done." Then hands me the laptop to see the location for myself.

Jaxon isn't wise at all!

How dare she take her to a place that he knows I can trace her easily? That abandoned house is his great grandfather's house which he left before becoming a member of this Pack. Jaxon and I have visited that place together severally because an uncle of mine was buried there long before his parents accompanied our great grandparents here. I know the place quite well and there's no need to ask for any further directions.

"Call the guards and let's go. We'll take two cars and I'll be in the second one which you'll be driving. Don't let the Pack members know what's happening." I instruct Trevor and he nods as he stands up to take his leave.

It's still morning time and the sun is already out, an indication that it'll be scorching hot soon. It's Summer over here.

The cars are quickly arranged and before we know it, ten men including our drivers are in the cars heading towards the West where that abandoned house is located.

My heart is beating hard against my chest, praying to the moon goddess to let nothing happen to my mate. Those men, even though I just heard a voice, might be dangerous and might harm her in a way that she'll never heal soon! Well, I pray for protection against her!

We drive out of the Pack House and then take the highway towards our destination.

For thirty five minutes, we drive on the tarmac, just slow enough to ensure we don't lose her. My eyes are always on both sides of the road, anticipating to see my mate, maybe standing along it or walking towards our Pack. I don't want to believe that she's still in that abandoned house with those guys because something bad might happen to her!

I cross my fingers, still praying for her safety and protection. Even though I can feel it deep inside me that nothing bad is going to happen to her, I still can't stop praying.

Since we aren't properly mated and bonded, our wolves can't detect each other or connect for now but my wolf is just howling from inside and I can tell he's restless and anxious as well. I just talk to him and assure him that everything is going to be fine soon because we're about to rescue our mate.

"There she is!" I hear a guard shouting. I was too engrossed into thinking such that I stopped checking along the road for her.

The car in front of us has already stopped and the guards occupying it are all out and rushing towards Adeline.

My heart swells with joy upon seeing her but I can't stop pitying her when I notice that she's in her night dress... a transparent one for that matter.

She lowers herself on the ground and loudly starts thanking mother goddess for helping her. I walk over to her and bend then engulf her in a tight hug.

She leans against my chest, inhaling my scent and sobbing uncontrollably.

"It's okay my love." I say to her. "I'm glad you're okay." I add, still embracing her.

"Thank you for coming Alpha. I'm so grateful." She says to me amid sobs.

"Did they hurt you?" I ask curiously, tipping her chin to see if she's okay.

"Nothing I couldn't take." She responds as she looks up at me. "Just a few slaps and kicks which I took as a hero!" She says with a smile, blinking between her tears. She's so humorous, even when in danger!

I note how her face is swollen and the few scratches that she has on her face. I apologize to her for not protecting her. I'm so sad and full of regrets at the moment.

She also regrets not moving into my apartment last night and also apologizes for being stubborn.

Ahw, she's so beautiful and her succulent lips are already calling me to kiss them. Without any care in the whole world, I reach for her lips and take them into mine. We kiss passionately until we're out of breath!

"Let's go home dear, you need to take a long shower, change and eat to your fill." I say to Adeline then help her up after disconnecting from the kiss. I command Trevor to ignite the car for us to get going but before we can hop into our car, someone's voice stops us, making us to look behind us.

"Not so fast love birds, I have a score to settle with both of you!" We come face to face with Jaxon who is brandishing both a gun and a knife!
