THREATS AND ATTEMPTS

"No, wait!" I scream as Rambo starts drawing lines on my cheek. "Call him." I finally surrender but they can't predict what's coming their way.

"Reject him immediately the call connects, no playing games with us!" Jaxon commands and I just eye him with teary eyes.

One thing is for sure... Jaxon doesn't want to be with me as a mate but his plan is to take revenge on me and ensure his father never ends up with me. Well, I'm sure he can't take it seeing me as the Pack's Luna.... his step mother!

That thought alone makes me to smile, even amid tears and fear of what might happen to me. Besides, I'm glad that my pairing with the Alpha has gotten into Jaxon who always refers to himself as unshakable. He's in for a rude shock!

"Hello." The call has connected and the alpha's face shows on the screen. His voice is unmistakably audible and immediately he sees me at this side of the screen, his composure immediately changes and his voice trembles. "Adeline, why did you leave me?" He asks in a shaky voice.

"I-i-"

"Reject him, now!" Rambo whispers in a rough voice. "Tell him you ran away with the love of your life Jaxon and don't you dare do anything stupid!" He warns but I'm not going to do any of such things. If they're willing to take my life, then so be it because I'm not ready to betray my mate as well as our mother, the moon goddess.

I can vividly remember when she appeared to me in a vision like dream and how she made a whole lot of promises to me, including her protection, always. Even in my worst moment right now, I can't stop calling upon her to protect me, that's why I'm so bold and fearless!

"Talk, now!" Rambo commands, making me to flinch.

"Baby, where are you?" The alpha asks and one look at Jaxon, I can tell he's seething with anger. He can't take it when the Alpha, his father refers to me as 'baby'.

"Alpha, Jaxon kidnapped me!" I blurt out immediately. I don't even know where the strength to go against all these men comes from.

Before the alpha can say anything, the call is ended and several dirty and hard slaps are placed across my face. I'm immediately thrown to the floor and my clothes torn in an instant. I scream and throw my legs and hands in protest but I can't just win over six men, Jaxon included.

If these bastards overpower me and have their way with me, then I might as well commit suicide because I've been keeping myself pure for my mate!

"I'll have her first then I can leave you to enjoy her body for as long as you want." Jaxon tells Rambo who is already pulling down his pants. Oh gosh, is this how my life is going to end?

"No problem boss, enjoy to the fullest!" Rambo withdraws as one of his boys tries to pull my pants down. However, I'm determined to fight nail and tooth therefore I throw my legs randomly and roughly, hitting anyone in plain sight.

Two men pin my hands down while Rambo and another one holds my legs. The fifth guy is busy taking a video, as instructed by Jaxon and Rambo.

These guys are almost succeeding and Jaxon has already pulled down his pants, ready to take my innocence away.

I close my eyes as one of the rogues touch the hem of my innerwear and try to tear it off. At that juncture, my voice leaves my throat and my lips loudly call upon my mother goddess to come to my rescue. One of the rogues try to close my mouth but I just can't stop calling the moon goddess to show me mercy.

Slaps and kicks to stop me from shouting are rained upon me but I don't seem to feel any of them because the more they beat me up, the more I shout for my mother goddess to save me.

I don't know for how long I keep on shouting, crying and praying for mercy because when I finally open my eyes, I see a bright light right above me, lighting the whole dingy room and making it look like I'm in paradise.

I can't see any of the men including Jaxon and no one is holding me right now. I lower my hand slowly to my lower part of the body and I sigh when I realize that I am well covered, my dress is intact as well as my innerwear. In short, nothing has been tampered with.

"Mother," I call out, closing my eyes since the light is too bright for my eyes, "thank you so much!" I add sincerely.

"Sit up my daughter, you're safe now." I hear her voice saying.

"Thank you so much mother." I say yet again.

"You have to leave this place, now!" She orders.

"I don't know how to go about it, mother."

"I'll guide you till you meet Alpha Waylon, your mate. He's on his way here, as well as his men." She assures me and upon sitting up, I look around but I don't see anyone, the rogues, not even Jaxon. Well, I'm less concerned about their whereabouts therefore I use the exit and follow our mother the moon goddess who is in form of a very bright light.

I follow her for almost thirty minutes, when she bids me goodbye after ensuring I'm on an open road where vehicles are passing. Before leaving, she assures me of her protection and promises to reveal my purpose and role in life at the Pack soon enough. Her words leave me confused but I just nod, silently praying for help to come soon.

I don't have any money on me but since I know the way to my Pack, I follow the broad road, in my night dress but it seems no one notices me because buses and cars pass by as if I don't exist. I know from here to my Pack is over thirty kilometres, that's a walking distance of two hours or so, but with a car, one can use around thirty minutes.

Either way, I walk on, not minding the scorching sun which has already risen and the hard and rough ground which I already feel under my worn out slippers. I'm determined to arrive home safe and sound. At this rate I don't trust anyone therefore I can't hike a ride for fear of being questioned and pity stares. I don't want all that!

I've been walking for over fifteen minutes when I see one of the Pack House cars. The driver drives past me but I shout, calling out his name. Luckily, he stops a few meters from me and I see guards climbing out of the car, rushing towards me. The driver reverses then turns the car and drives towards my direction.

My heart swells with happiness when the guards approach me, their faces filled with concern, all wondering if I am okay. However, the only question I ask them is where the Alpha is but before they can answer, I spot my mate stepping out of another car which has just stopped next to the first car.

I am overwhelmed with joy and gratitude and without a warning, my knees grow weak and my legs give way. I find myself on the ground kneeling, my tongue proclaiming the great work of our mother goddess. I can't stop thanking her, over and over again.

While still kneeling, I hear someone walking closer to me and he kneels or rather bends closer to me and engulfs me in a tight and warm hug.

The scent is familiar.

My beloved mate!

I lean against his chest, inhaling his sweet and masculine scent, at the same time sobbing uncontrollably. My heart is full of gratitude for being saved from that scary ordeal that Jaxon wanted to put me through!

"It's okay my love," the Alpha says to me, "I'm glad you're okay." He adds. Well, as much as I know that Alpha Waylon is my mate, I can't stop thinking of him as my Alpha and I don't think that will change any time soon.

"Thank you for coming, Alpha. I'm so grateful!" I say to him amid sobs.

"Did they hurt you?" He asks curiously, raising my face to see if I am okay.

"Nothing I couldn't take." I respond as I look up at him. "Just a few slaps and kicks which I took as a hero!" I try to force a smile amid my tears.

"Your face is swollen and you have a few scratches here and there. I'm sorry for not protecting you, my mate." Alpha Waylon says sincerely, his eyes showing a lot of sadness in them.

"If I had listened to you last night and moved into your apartment, I wouldn't have been kidnapped. I'm also sorry for being stubborn and all." I say to him and he reaches for my lips, his connecting with mine and we kiss there and then.

"Let's go home dear, you need to take a long shower, change and eat to your fill." He says to me then helps me up. We walk to the car as the guards follow closely from behind. "Driver, ignite the car and let's get going." Alpha Waylon commands the driver as we get in but someone stops us on our tracks.

"Not so fast, love birds! I have a score to settle with both of you!"
