DINNER

ADELINE

Shrugging, I focus back on my newly discovered mate and our popcorn. Debra and her team have already gone back to their duty posts and since Jaxon has run upstairs, were left all alone, enjoying our popcorn and momentarily kissing and being all lovey-dovey. We don't have any cares in the whole world... It now seems it revolves around the two of us!

We spend the whole day together, eating, talking and getting to know each other better. Even when the other Pack leaders show up for dinner after a long day at the field, we're still sitting on the couch.

Over dinner, the Alpha invites me to sit next to him and I can see all the weird and side stares from the other leaders but the air is finally cleared when he introduces me as his mate to them all, stating that we just discovered each other this morning and I'll soon be the Pack's Luna.

All the Pack leaders seem happy for us and they all congratulate us. However, I can sense that some of them aren't genuinely happy and I can tell that they're wondering how a mere maid can become a powerful Alpha's mate. Well, it has just happened and they all have to deal with it!

"I would like to make it right with Adeline here, that's why I want her to be crowned as the Pack's Luna soon enough. I don't want to rush into things with her since she's still a young girl, yet to understand some stuff." Alpha Waylon makes it clear to his fellow Pack leaders. They all nod in agreement.

"So, when should we hold the coronation ceremony?" Beta Alfred asks, curiosity showing on is face. His mate Magdalene is seated next to him. Beta Alfred and Magdalene who are around the same age with Alpha Waylon have a sixteen year old son and a nineteen year old daughter who met her mate last year and moved in with him immediately.

"We shall make arrangements over our morning meeting tomorrow." Alpha Waylon says to him while smiling widely. "Let's enjoy our meal before it gets cold." He adds, taking my hand into his and caressing it lovingly.

Spoons, knives and forks hit plates and all that can be heard is the sound of cutlery all over the dining table, as well as household staff moving around, filling glasses and serving dishes. Everyone seems happy and elated.

Later, the Alpha and his cabinet of leaders are left in the living room, seated on the couches and chatting happily. Most of them won't stop congratulating him.

Alpha Waylon wants me to move into one of his spare rooms on the second floor where he occupies a whole floor but I request him to let me stay with the other maids at our quarters, assuring him that I'll move into that room tomorrow.

Reluctantly, he agrees and then goes back to entertain his friends. Immediately I get into my room, I make a call to Pamela who responds immediately and assures me that she'll be in my room before I know it.

Sighing, I place my phone on the bed next to me and lie on it, stretching myself and at the same time asking myself a whole lot of questions.

First, I don't know why Pamela is still working as a maid here and I also don't know whether she still sleeps in the maids quarters since I helped her pack her stuff so as to move in with her mate, the Top Warrior's son. Well, I'm about to find out soon.

A few minutes later, Pamela shows up in my room but this time round, she isn't dressed in the usual maids' dress but she's in one of her best dresses.

"I'm glad you came." I say, relieved. Pamela is the only maid whom we've gotten along all this while ever since I started working in this Pack House.

"I had to." She replies while smiling. " I couldn't have missed this opportunity to be with our incoming Luna." She says while smiling. "Maybe it's the last opportunity to be close to you... you never know!" She says thoughtfully, her eyes becoming dull all of a sudden.

What does she mean, anyway?

Does she think I'll change and become evil when I become the Luna? Goodness forbid!

"Why would you say that, Pam?" I ask her, sitting up on the bed and pulling myself to the wall so as to create space for her. I signal her to sit on the bed next to me.

"It's just logic, you know. You'll be on a higher level than me and I'm sure a Luna won't want to be associated with a low-life maid like myself." She says dreamily.

"Come of it, Pamela. Why would you say that about me? You know me better and I can't stoop that low!" I assure her and she just shrugs, finally relaxing beside me. "So tell me, why are you still working at the Pack house as a mate yet you're now mated to Tyrone?" I ask her after clearing my throat, noisily.

Pamela smiles broadly. "Well, I'm just here because I can't stay idle in Tyrone's house. He's always at the field training to be the next Top Warrior after his dad and I don't want to idle around in the house." She explains.

"Oh, so you come here in the morning and go back to his house in the evening?" I ask curiously and she nods.

"I'll be coming here until I get something better going." She adds, then turns to me. "Enough about me, Luna." She says sarcastically, making me to laugh at her humour.

"Call me her Royal Majesty!" I say with equal humour, making both of us to roll out laughing, filling the whole room with laughter and unknown warmth.

Pamela and I chat for hours until we hear a knock at my door and Tyrone calling her from outside.

"He has started being insecure already. He can't stay long without seeing you!" I whisper into Pamela's ears.

"Isn't it supposed to be like that?" She asks in a whisper as well, making us to laugh out loud.

I lead her to the door and bid her goodbye, but not before saying hi to her mate Tyrone.

"Congratulations Luna, I'm so happy for you!" Tyrone says to me and I smile sheepishly.

"Just call me Adeline

I'm yet to be your Luna." I say to him.

"You'll soon be, Adeline." He says then turns to his mate. "Let's go babe, and good night Adeline." He adds then walks away hand in hand with his mate.

I wish them a good night as well and then lock my door. I climb onto my bed ready to retire for the night, but not before calling my mate the Alpha and wishing him a lovely night.

We talk over the phone for over twenty minutes, assuring me of his love for me and it's only when I complain of being sleepy when he reluctantly hangs up but not before sending me kisses over the phone!
