The moment I stepped into Sip and Paint Haven—more like Sip and Paint Hell for me—I knew two things:

One, I was about to embarrass the absolute hell out of myself.

Two, Jordan had way too much faith in my ability to do what normal people call fun.

The place was admittedly cute—dim lights, soft jazz, mini canvases lined up neatly, and the scent of paint mixed with something that smelled suspiciously like vanilla-flavored candles. Most of the people were already seated, looking cozy and close, drinks in hand like they had their lives perfectly together.

Meanwhile, I was sweating like I’d just walked into a pop quiz I didn’t study for.

“This okay?” Jordan asked, pulling out a seat for me like a gentleman out of a cheesy romance novel.

“Oh yeah, the seat is fine,” I replied with a smile.

“I meant the place,” he said with a soft chuckle.

Oh. Great. Embarrassment level: unlocked. And I hadn’t even picked up a brush yet.

“Oh, totally fine,” I lied again, this time flashing a tight smile. “I

  • Nightmare turned love    Mr A.

After confirming the date with Jordan, I sat down—my thoughts spiraling. He walked away again. Again.I was a fool for believing him when he said he wouldn’t run anymore. But I guess you can’t take someone’s specialty away from them. And disappearing? That’s his Olympic event.I was supposed to call Eli, ask if he got home, maybe fish for details about him and Ty. But I couldn’t bring myself to do anything. Not even be nosy.Maybe the scream therapy finally caught up to me... or maybe I was still in a mood because of a certain someone whose name starts with A and ends in -iden.Could be either.Or both.I fell asleep the moment I forced my mind to shut down.It was harder than I expected.Thoughts of Aiden kept clawing back. Jordan too.But I pushed them away—just enough.A small win for Nova. I deserved that. The next morning, I dragged myself out of bed, taking forever to get ready.I didn’t even feel like going to school.Sick day? I thought hopefully as I headed downstairs. But th

  • Nightmare turned love    For Her

AIDEN’S POV I saw her before she even laid eyes on me. She stood beneath the porch light—hair slightly messy from the wind, eyes dulled with something close to exhaustion, and cheeks flushed, either from the cold or laughter. Maybe both. She looked better than she had earlier today—not fully okay, but definitely not broken. Not like the Nova who walked out of school with her head down and fire in her eyes. That fire was because of me. I hated how she looked like she didn’t need me anymore. I’d been outside for nearly an hour. Just pacing like a goddamn idiot, trying to convince myself to walk over and knock. To say something. Anything. An apology. An explanation. A scream—hell, anything that would get her to talk to me again. But right now? I didn’t even know where to start. Do I regret what I did to Jordan? Not one fucking bit. He was a smug, manipulative jerk who had the nerve to admit he was messing with her feelings—then turned around and asked her out within the same

“Unknown?” I echoed, staring at Eli like he’d grown two heads. “That’s how every horror movie starts.”Eli turned in his seat, his eyes sparkling way more than they should. “Girl, stop being so dramatic. It’s called being spontaneous. Just settle down and trust the moment.”“It’s called being kidnapped,” I muttered, arms crossed. “But sure, let’s ‘unwind’”—I made air quotes—“with a total stranger in the car and no clue where we’re going.”“I’m not a stranger,” Ty chimed in, glancing at me from the front seat.“I know,” I said dryly. “But I needed to show how ridiculous this whole thing is. You just made a great prop.”“You’re in rare form today,” Eli laughed, and Ty joined in.“Yeah, well, that’s what being emotionally wrecked does to a person. Now just drive already.”Seatbelt clicked. Mood: suspicious but along for the ride. The drive took about 20 minutes, music playing low as Eli and Ty chatted like old friends. I knew we’d all gotten closer lately, but the giggles and shy chuckle

I walked with Jordan’s arm around my shoulder for what felt like forever. My mind was as stuffed as a Thanksgiving turkey, and I had no idea what the heck I was doing anymore. This whole thing with Aiden—if it even is a thing—was weighing on me more than I’d like to admit.“Nova,” Jordan said gently, pulling me out of my thoughts. I stopped walking and turned to him.“Are you okay?” I asked, my voice soft. Honestly, I felt bad that he had to go through all that embarrassment because of me. Scratch that—because of Aiden and his massive bipolar energy.“I’m alright,” Jordan said with a small smile, then he pulled away slightly. “I don’t need to get treated. It wasn’t that hard of a punch anyway,” he added, flashing a full-blown grin. How was he still smiling after what just happened? The guy was weird. Nice weird, but weird.“Alright then, if you say so. We should probably grab lunch before the time runs out,” I said, and he nodded. We’d barely taken five steps before the bell rang.I s

Sunday went by in a blink, and before I knew it, it was Monday. School day. Ugh. I rode with Arnold in silence for once, my head filled with a storm of thoughts. He pulled into the school parking lot and nudged me out of my haze. “We’re here,” he said. I dragged myself out of the car, still stuck in my own internal drama. I’d spent the entire weekend coming up with a hundred possible reasons why Aiden had gone MIA. Maybe he got kidnapped by someone he pissed off. Or maybe he collapsed somewhere from a mystery health condition he didn’t know he had. Okay, not my best work. But I needed something to keep me sane. Because the truth was—I was worried. About Aiden Cross. And that had to count for something, right? We were kind of becoming friends. Slowly. Maybe. “Why are you still standing there?” Arnold yelled from ahead. “Chill,” I called back, breaking out of my thoughts—for the second time today. A new personal record for Nova. “Have you heard from Aiden at all this we
