The stars seem to be shinning brightly as night falls and the animals and insects of the night seem to come alive as darkness falls. At the end of the street I see movement, and I hear a loud grunt from over where Nick was tied. Suddenly there is a loud tearing noise, and then a loud scream. “Alex!” I hear Ash’s voice from down the street; I turn to where Nick was originally sitting and see the space vacant. Worry begins to build in my gut, and I see Ash come sprinting up the street. "ALEX MOVE!" On instinct I move, I slide to the left just as an arrow flies through the space that I had just vacated. My mouth drops open as I see Nick holding the bow. Why would he be shooting at me? For a second Nick seems to realise what he had done, but the spark of recognition in his eyes quickly fades. All I can think of is running, I can hear it coming behind me, giving chase like any predatory animal would do if they sensed easy prey. I know it’s catching me, the heavy footsteps following in my wake. I scan the wilderness looking for a way to escape this nightmare, but there’s nothing, no tree high enough, no branch long enough. It’s morning and I don’t remember anything that happened last night, so when my alarm goes off saying it’s 7am, I climb out of bed and head downstairs to the kitchen where the rest of my family should be. Climbing out of the car I try not to stare at the “good looking man” at the pump across from me. As I’m trying not to look like a complete stalker while filling up the car I see a flash of movement out of the corner of my eye. Turning slowly I see a familiar car pulling in behind me. Slowly Ash climbs into the driver’s side of the vehicle and starts the car. At first there’s an awkward silence, because neither one of us knows the other. So Ash decides to start the conversation. “That was the best punch I have ever seen.’ At this point I’m too confused to reply because I have a billion thoughts going through my head, but he continues on without any comment from me anyway. “He didn’t even see it coming. I don’t think he was expecting you to punch him even though he was being a douche bag. At first I think he thought I was the one that punched him because he was looking at me and his eyes were screaming bloody murder. You were amazing, I didn’t think he would go so low to punch a girl, but I apparently was wrong about that too. I knew if he hit you that second time you would have got really injured so I jumped in front.” he concludes. This makes me lift my eyes to meet his. This stranger actually took a hit for me, a stranger I don’t even know, took a hit for me!

For a long while we just sit there in each other’s company, I look at the time and see that it’s all most 7pm. We’ve just been hanging in the car for more than 9 hours. My tummy grumbles and I realise I haven’t had any lunch let alone breakfast yet. “Would you like to come back to my place and finish this chat?” He agrees, as we begin to drive back Ash asks “Won’t it be weird with your family there?” I shake my head. Honestly my parents wouldn’t give a shit if I brought home a boy; they don’t even care about me to begin with. I pull the car to a stop and get out. It’s still smoky outside and it is quite hard to breath, at first I can’t see were the damage is, a few trees have been pulled out of the ground and some of them look like they have been sawn in half. I try to look at the houses more closely, but the smoke is too thick. House after house has gained a little lean to the left, leaning away from where it exploded. I can’t hear anyone moving around outside. Has everyone died? I don’t know what to think about it. As I continue walking to my house I see that none of our neighbours were home, well that’s suspicious. Slowly I come into view of my house, or where my house should have been. Nothing. Everything that I owned, everyone I love appears to be gone. I don’t believe my eyes. This can’t be happening. Alex opens her mouth to say or ask something but Ash just nods his head, without her even voicing her question. He continues walking but he doesn’t look sad. He looks like he is on a mission. He looks at Lyrica and she seems to understand a relieved look filters across her face for a split second, allowing anyone that saw it as a sense of relief. She quickly recovers before saying “Everyone, we must retreat. We will go to the south, follow me. Everything will be fine” Ash continues to walk the other way; he glances back at me once and nods his head. A relieved smile filtering across his face before it disappears and he looks away. This leaves us with just one problem. We can’t see the monsters and that means the ones that are helping us are now useless. Suddenly Nick is lifted off the ground by some invisible force, and carried towards Lyrica. Lyrica looks at Nick with something that resembles hatred before nodding to the monster. Natalie still hasn’t appeared, and the rest of the group is growing restless. Finally we come to the end of the street to see Natalie standing before the master by herself. Wait not standing but floating, her hair has fallen out and hangs down her back while her eyes rest on the master. He seems to be looking straight back and neither of them are moving. Ash looks confused I assume that he can see the monsters. Lyrica has gone still and Cooper is looking around with wide eyes. Can he see something that we can’t see? I turn to Alex and notice that she is also looking at Cooper. “What is wrong with him? Do you think that he can see the monsters?” Alex bobs her head slowly as if trying to hide the fact that we have noticed. But it’s still enough to get Cooper’s attention and his head turns towards us before he focuses on Lyrica. Natalie had the best plan, and I was certain that we were going to surprise the in coming monsters. As I sit with Alex and watch her watch her best friend prepare to do something that no one should be able to do. Alex’s head sits against my shoulder and my arms circle her waist, I realise that the way we are sitting feels right. I know that this is going to be dangerous and that Alex is worried because Nick has been missing, but I can’t let her out of my sight. She is my heart and my life and without her I don’t know what my life would be like. Alex’s body suddenly becomes tense and her head lifts off my shoulder. She is looking directly at Natalie, and Natalie is looking directly at Alex before she vanishes. Alex gets up quickly and races to where Natalie had been standing and finds the space empty. Tears begin to show in her eyes and she continues to stare at the spot where her best friend just vanished from. I look around and notice that everyone else is also staring at the spot
Nightmare Revenge Plan (Aidan)
Walking out to the kitchen, I grab a snack from the fridge before walking to the lounge room to think. I watch the monsters walk around me even right now I can see that the numbers are dropping, maybe because they have noticed that the main leaders are no longer here, or simple because they have retired for the night. Whatever Natalie and Blue came up with before Blue helped Natalie escape must have caused some confusion. That’s why sooner rather than later I need to finish the job I started. I need to get Ash out of the equation, because that will surely break Natalie’s strength. Then finally an Idea hits me. I could manipulate Nick’s hatred for losing his sister towards the girl’s boyfriend and I can also use the hatred towards Ash for stealing Natalie away from him. I look around the room and notice that some of the monsters have turned their attention towards me. I feel my lips lift into a wide spread grin and I feel my eyes gleaming with happiness as my plans start to formulate

The monster gulps and moves forward to stand at the front. He lifts up the bag he is holding and I am surprised to see a human within the bag. “Why do you hold a human?” I ask as politely as possible. “It’s not just any human, it’s one of their humans, one of the important ones that the Ma Vista’s talk to.” I look at him in surprise, “And how did you find him?” “He was sitting out the front of the house, so I took the opportunity to grab him.” A look of uncertainty flashes across his face, before he regains his confidence. I look at the unconscious human, that I certainly had seen floating around with the little gang that Natalie had created. Blacks interruption had confused me, for a second I thought that he was going to help the other monsters from the council, but I misjudged his character. It had been years since that last master died, but considering that can’t happen anymore it had to be expected that one of the monsters would want the other Ma Vista’s to win, but quite frankly that is not an option. From what I have heard from the other monsters, rumours are going round that Natalie and Ash are planning not on killing all the monsters because there job will still have to be done, but only killing those that killed the people that weren’t destined to pass on.
