Storm grunted. “Get out.”

“See that mood? That’s exactly the problem,” his Beta teased, dropping a thick folder on the desk.

Storm looked down, and seeing the Fang Love Family Clinic seal on it, the grumpiness in his bones drained out of him.

Orion's face got serious. “Sadie finally sent everything over.”

Storm snatched the file before Orion could finish speaking. He had been waiting for this. It had all her reports, blood tests, scans—everything. He traced her name at the top, then the med

Daphne was alright.Storm stared at the photograph until the screen timed out and faded to black. Impatiently, he tapped it awake again, his eyes locked on her face. For the first time in weeks, he felt like he could actually breathe. Even his wolf settled down, the constant snarling and pacing easing up just from seeing her.She looked thinner, with dark circles under her eyes, but her skin carried no bruises or sickly pallor. He didn’t know why he spent the last weeks terrified that something terrible had happened to her. That was why he’d been searching so hard for her on his own, even without Orion’s knowledge. He just couldn’t shake off the worry.Goddess, thank you, he muttered silently. But his relief was instantly cut by suspicion. Who the hell sent the photos? And what did they mean by the threat that followed it?His thumb traced the glass, zooming in on her features, wishing he could reach through the screen and drag her back to the pack. Then, he swiped to the second imag

Storm grunted. “Get out.” “See that mood? That’s exactly the problem,” his Beta teased, dropping a thick folder on the desk. Storm looked down, and seeing the Fang Love Family Clinic seal on it, the grumpiness in his bones drained out of him. Orion's face got serious. “Sadie finally sent everything over.” Storm snatched the file before Orion could finish speaking. He had been waiting for this. It had all her reports, blood tests, scans—everything. He traced her name at the top, then the medical terms that followed, desperate to know if she was really okay. Seeing the top three lines stopped his breathing. HIGH-RISK PREGNANCY. POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS. INCREASED PROBABILITY OF FETAL LOSS. “You’ve been reading that same page for five minutes,” Orion said quietly. Storm slammed the folder shut. “Something feels off.” If he could just find her, they could settle this stupidity once and for all. He tried to ignore the uncomfortable truth that he wanted to see her for reasons that

Rosalind picked up one of the tablets and held it up close, squinting. Her face went pale, making her bold red lips stand out even more.Daphne’s nerves wound tighter. “What is it, Rose?” She asked again. Rosalind held the whole bottle out to her. “Where exactly did you get these?”“What do you mean?” Daphne frowned and shifted on the couch.Rosalind set the bottle down slowly on the table. “You still haven’t answered me.”“They came from Blood Shadow,” “Fang Love family clinic?”“Yeah.”“Your doctor gave them to you?”“Not directly.” Daphne closed her eyes for a second, trying to remember. “The nurses usually just brought them with everything else.”“Which nurses?”“I don’t know, Rose.”“You don’t know?”“I wasn’t exactly interviewing them. I was pregnant and just following the instructions I was given,” Daphne grumbled.Rosalind puffed out her cheeks and stepped closer. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to bark at you. I’m just worried.”“Then won’t you please tell me what’s going on?”Op

Rosalind kept glancing over at Daphne from the driver’s seat, just to see if she was alright. Daphne stared out the window, cracking it open a bit for some fresh air. The cramps were easing up, but they still had her on edge. Why did she always get hit with them so bad every time she was pregnant? “You want me to take you to the hospital instead?” Rosalind asked, turning onto a narrower road Daphne pointed at.“Hmm… I’ll be fine once I’m home. I just need to rest.” She probably stood on her feet for too long at the hall, and she had only been eating small bites when she should be consuming double for the twins. It was incredibly hard to keep an appetite when your entire heart was in shambles, but she forced herself to try for their sake. She could feel Rosalind’s eyes on her, probably dying to ask more questions, but Daphne was glad for the quiet ride. The truck finally came to a rattling stop outside the little bungalow. Rosalind climbed out first, opening the passenger door for D

“Well, mate or not, the woman literally yanked herself down the stairs and murdered her own child just to frame you! What kind of fucked creature does that? Well, I’ll tell you exactly who. It’s Katerina! She is completely sick in the medulla and needs to see a psychiatrist immediately! For all I know, she probably hired those thugs to get you kidnapped. Ugh, why are fated female mates always so entirely out of their minds?”Daphne stayed quiet as they walked. If she ever told Storm the truth again, would he even listen? She threw her phone into the river weeks ago to avoid any tracking from Griffith and Storm, but she made sure to slide her memory card out first. She hadn't even checked for missed messages or calls before destroying the device, but she still knew his number by heart. Sadie’s too. Her doctor friend still called her new line occasionally, giving her sweet, motherly advice on how to care for the twins and filling her in on the pack gossip, all while constantly reassuri

She watched his back until he was gone from the hall, then put a hand on her stomach. Worry hit her hard for the babies safety. Just when she was starting to feel like staying here might be okay, too. Why did he call her Daphne when she made it clear Veilla was dear to her? It made her worried. Her worries didn't get to last another minute. Rosalind grabbed her by the elbow and started pulling her through the crowded hall, dodging past the aisles. “Rose?” “Keep moving and try not to draw attention,” Rosalind muttered, not slowing her steps for a second. Daphne stumbled, trying her best to keep up. She expected a quick hello or for Rose to avoid her entirely so the Alpha wouldn't get more suspicious, but she also had a mountain of questions for her. “Daphne Auburn, you have completely lost your mind! Flirting with Alpha Griffith?” Rosalind whisper-shouted once they got into this quiet storage room that smelled like old cardboard boxes. “What are you doing here? You vanished and
