"I don't understand you. Never have, and I probably never will." James York's tired voice sighed on the other end of the phone for both Whitney and Hollis to hear. "Your mother showed me the text from, who I'm guessing, is some girl you met out there. Does she think we're monsters or something for wanting you to come home!? You don't belong in- in MAINE of all places-"

As her father rambled on, Whitney slowly looked up to find Hollis' gentle grey eyes. She curled her finger's around Whitney's delicately and smiled softly as if to say "this guy has no fucking idea what he's talking about." It was at that moment Whitney knew for sure whose side she was on. After waiting for her father to finish his long winded rant, she drew a deep breath and exhaled with a relieved grin.
