Chapter 1

Zach Simpson confidently said to the livestream camera, "Let me tell you one thing. I've decided to apply to a vocational college."

The comments section was instantly thrown into an uproar.

Zach was a famous, handsome, and highly accomplished student who scored 1400 on the college admissions test, but now it seemed that he wanted to attend a vocational college. It felt like he had lost his mind.

Zach added, "I'm not crazy. I'm being rational! Education doesn't equal intelligence, nor does it equal dignity. My grandma has cleaned the streets for 30 years. Her broom is as noble as a professor's pen. Some people sit in offices, while others pour coffee. I'm willing to pour coffee because it's a form of honorable labor. We're different from the moment we were born. Why should we live according to a set template? I want to tell all of society that people are all the same! The college admission test is just a game set by humans, and I'm not playing it anymore."

After he finished speaking, the livestream instantly gained 100,000 new followers, and the topic "Anti-rat race king, Zach Simpson" topped the ranks.

The classmates in the classroom were all in tears.

"Zach is so amazing! Don't you think he's being very rational? Independent, avant-garde, and fearless of societal pressure!"

"He dares to say what we dare not. He's the new George Orwell!"

My girlfriend, Sophie Jordan, had red hands from clapping, and her eyes were filled with tears. "Royce Linwood, what do you think? Are you particularly moved? Which vocational college do you want to go to?"

I stared at her.

In my past life, she tricked me into going to the karaoke bar under the pretense of a class reunion. She was also the one who encouraged the whole class to get me drunk, made me kneel in the karaoke hallway, and finally shoved me into the freezer.

I calmly answered, "I want to apply to Harvard."

She slapped my face. "You academic fool! You're a sophisticated egoist. I must have been blind to have fallen for you!"

A girl nearby pushed me too. "He's heartless and single-minded. He doesn't understand Zach's core values! Zach is breaking down class barriers, yet he's just clinging to his crappy Harvard dream."

The class arts representative showed me her phone, her eyes red. "I changed my application to Remington and my grandma posted on her social media saying that she's proud of me. You have no idea what it feels like to be approved by your family!"

Just then, Zach paused his livestream. He reached out, and Sophie quickly handed him a cup of coffee.

Zach took a sip and spat it out immediately. "Holy crap! I only drink it without sugar, and this has sugar added to it! Those vocational school idiots who make coffee can't even read properly! I'll continue my livestream later and change my application back at the last minute. When the acceptance letter comes, I'll say Harvard's president begged me to enroll. If I capitalize on this wave of attention, I'll have over ten million followers!"

The class monitor was the first to react, clapping and laughing. "Zach is truly a strategic genius! Those who go to vocational colleges are all idiots. Zach played along with them and they actually took it seriously? Hilarious."

Zach smugly waved his phone. "It's the number one trending topic, and those poorly educated people are still praising me. What a bunch of idiots."

The whole class burst into laughter.

"Are they good enough? Are they?"

"Do they really think we're like them? Hilarious!"

"The anti-rat-race is for peasants. We're going to prestigious universities and reaching the summit!"

Their attitude changed faster than lightning.

I chuckled and said nothing.

How boisterous…

And to think I actually wanted to save these idiots in my past life.

One month later, the admission notices from vocational colleges were also sent.Strangely, those who thought they could at least still get into a vocational college did not receive any notice. They panicked, started making calls, and went to the admissions offices, wanting an explanation. Then, they received an official statement. It came from the very vocational school that Sophie had applied to.[Our school adheres to the principle of fostering virtue through education. Anyone who has engaged in immoral behavior, seriously undermined educational fairness, and caused extremely negative social impact will not be admitted by our school.]Then, several other vocational colleges also followed suit and made statements, saying that vocational colleges also had a bottom line. They welcomed students who were diligent and hardworking, but not those who were morally corrupt.Netizens all cheered.[Tough! Vocational colleges aren't scavengers!][Well done! The vocational colleges totally

That was why Zach became extremely nervous when he heard Sophie say that they were going to investigate the class teacher. The investigation results were soon released. It confirmed that Zach's father was suspected of multiple crimes, including accepting bribes, offering bribes, and having unknown sources of wealth. The amount was extremely large and was placed under criminal investigation. As soon as the news came out, public opinion exploded. Soon, someone else exposed more things."My son could have been awarded the city's top student award, but it was changed to Zach in the end!""My daughter joined an essay contest and wrote an essay 100 times better than his, but the judges privately said that a top leader's son can't lose and gave the first prize to him.""He was admitted to the key class in high school because of his father's connections! The provincial top student award was also obtained through his father's bribery too!"A series of revelations kept coming one after ano

Just then, my classmates' parents all rushed into the classroom. Some were crying, some were cursing, and some grabbed their children by the ears and dragged them out, yelling that they would throw them off a building. In the midst of the chaos, a middle-aged man strode in, grabbed Zach's collar, and slapped his face. "You troublemaker! You stupid influencer! Do you know that you’ve ruined my daughter's life? She could have gone to Stanford! Instead, she applied to a vocational school course with you! I saw your livestream myself! You encouraged my daughter to delete her original application and apply to a vocational school instead. Now you're secretly applying to Harvard? Are you even human?"With each word, he kicked and punched Zach, which made him scramble and crawl under the table. Still not relieved from his fury, the man gave him another severe beating, knocking out two of his teeth.Just then, the police also arrived. However, the two uniformed police officers only stood at

The entire class became deathly silent.Zach shouted in disbelief, "Didn't you already change your major? I saw you fill in 'mechanical engineering college' with my own eyes!"The class monitor also shouted along. "Yeah! We all saw it! You applied to a vocational school instead! Did you trick us?"I slowly looked up. "The one you all saw was from a fake webpage I made just for fun. It's made to resemble the official one. I'm not an idiot. Why would I joke about my own future?"At this moment, the class teacher walked in with a livid face. She slapped the podium. "What are you guys doing? Choosing a major is a big life decision. How could you treat it like a joke? Who's going to tell me what's really going on?"The classroom was silent, with only intermittent crying sounds heard here and there.Zach suddenly broke down and threw himself at the head teacher, kneeling. He pointed at me and cried that it was all my fault. He accused me of using a fake webpage to trick them into think

"Nothing’s happening when I try to change it!""I can't either!""What are we going to do? The application can't be changed now!"Zach frantically tapped on the screen, his hands shaking. "No, no way... I'm going to a vocational college?"Finally, someone lost control of their emotions and shouted, "Zach! It's all your fault! You had to do the livestream to change our applications. Now look, it's all over!"A girl covered her face and collapsed onto the ground. "My dad will kill me if he finds out I applied to a vocational college... I worked so hard for a year and finally scored 1350... "Another person screamed hysterically, "Do you know how much my mom values prestigious schools? She even sold our house in the city to get me into a top school, yet now I'm going to attend a mechanical and electrical engineering vocational college? I might as well just smash my head against a wall and die!" "My uncle works for the municipal government. He said that as long as I get into a firs

Sophie burst into laughter first. "Hahaha! Royce actually applied for a vocational college!" "We were pretending, but his must be real, right?" "It's a mechanical engineering college. After graduation, will he become an electrician or repair electric scooters?" "He's not capable of that. He'll probably be one of those assembly line workers in a small factory.""Oh, he'll marry a masseuse when he graduates. The two people from the lowest social class will earn a combined monthly salary of 5,000 dollars.""Say, vocational colleges shouldn't exist!" Someone slapped the table. "Let all these low-IQ people attend vocational colleges. How dare they claim to be college students once they graduate? It's simply a waste of educational resources!" The whole class burst into laughter again. I knelt on the ground, with blood trickling from my lips and the skin on the back of my hand scratched and bleeding. However, I felt nothing inside.I looked up and scanned the podium. The livestre
