Esther

“Technically, I didn’t cheat on him,” I say to Jane, who is packing her bags and begging me for the hundredth time not to tell Charles about the baby, but I feel guilty.

“He is not going to consider that you didn't cheat, and what’s worse is this is Dominic’s baby.”

“I know,” I groan. Uncle Felix’s words swirl in my mind, about Jane trying to sabotage me to stay close to my parents while I look like a loser. What’s her game, anyway? She seems protective, unless she’s waiting for the right time so that she can blackmail me.

“Why do you want me to keep the baby?” I ask her, carefully observing her face for her reaction.

“Because,” she sighs. “Maybe because I’ve always wanted a baby.”

“So, you want to live your dreams through me?”

“No," she exhales. "Maybe,” she says sheepishly.

“What happened between you and Uncle when I was away?”

“Nothing important,” she says dismissively.

“Okay,” I say with a smirk that says, ‘I don't believe you.’

“What did he say?” she asks.

“Nothing.”

Esther "No, wait." I hold on to his wrist, just to spend two more seconds in his presence. He gazes at the wrist, without saying a word and I quickly let go. Why am I suddenly acting like one of those teenagers in movies when they are around their crush? We were in love years ago, and it's all over. "I'm sorry," I swallow. "I would like to talk now. If you don't mind."This is good. Talking about this and getting it out of the way is the best thing. He is going to say something like: 'Diana and I get the baby twice a week.' Then we'll be done. "Esther? Are you okay?" his voice sounds so far away, like a background noise to my worried thoughts. "Do you want to talk about the baby?" I ask him. He nods, his face marred with concern. "You may come in." I get in the room and sit on the couch. “I just want to warn you. If you don’t want me to keep the baby, you are going to have to get rid of me first.” “You know I didn’t mean all that. I just wanted to make your uncle believe it,

Esther Light infiltrates my eyes. I look around this strange room and take a whiff of a scent that makes me scrunch up my nose. “Diana, what are you doing here?” I sit up.“I live here.” She is seated on a chair next to the bed, and she rolls her eyes. “Where am I?” “Lolo Forest,” she gives me a devious smile. “Witches Forest? I thought vampires were not allowed to come here.” “Alpha Dominic insisted and grovelled. We didn’t have much of a choice.” “Oh! Wait, my baby?” I place my trembling hands on my lower abdomen, my head swarming with revenge ideas for anyone who touched my baby. “Your demon baby is fine,” she sighs. I almost glare at her, but decide not to make her see that she can get to me. “How does it feel?” she asks. “To be pregnant?” “How does it feel to be loved by Dominic?” “It’s the best feeling in the world,” I grin to frustrate her. “You’ve won. Can we please start over? I would like to do better.” “Oh, please,” I snort. "You are probably thinking of an e

  • Old Souls: Vampire Princess Vs The Last Lycan   Too Much Information

Esther“Look at me, Dominic, look at me.” I manage to get a hold of his hand. His pupils are still dilated when our eyes meet.“I want to kill him,” he growls, without letting go of my hand. “I want to kill him!”“I know, me too,” I say calmly. “But no one is going to believe our story when he is dead. He will be a victim we killed.”“I guess you have a point,” he sighs. “Every time I see him. Every time...”“You are crying,” I interject.“I am?” he blinks and brings a hand to his face, almost as if he’s also surprised that he is crying. My heart breaks for him, the way his face crumbles, showing vulnerability. I wrap my arms around him, and he wraps his around my shoulders.“How did you manage to tolerate him for so long?” I whisper. He swallows. “Like I said, it was for you.”“You could never be faster than me, Felix. You made me this way.” His tone is threatening.I reluctantly let go and turn to look at Felix and find out why Dominic is threatening him. I glare at Felix for everyt

  • Old Souls: Vampire Princess Vs The Last Lycan   Oud Tree

Esther I am lifted off the ground, my arms held tightly at my sides. My screams can probably be heard throughout the entire forest. I refuse to open my eyes, and I just writhe to try to free myself, without any luck. The tree doesn’t budge, and I can’t move my arms even a quarter of an inch. While kicking my dangling feet, I keep screaming. Felix is going to find me, anyway. It doesn’t matter if I keep silent or not, and hopefully the tree hates noise, and it might drop me. When I’m tired of throwing a fit, I take a deep breath, and the scent of the oud tree surprisingly calms me. Oud tree? Oud tree reminds me of... Dominic. Dominic? I slowly open one eye and come face to face with... “Dominic?” “Esther?” his rich baritone caresses my ear. “Dominic?” He sighs. “Yes?” “You here?” my eyes widen. “I am.” His breath fans my face, which unfortunately makes me stare at his lips for a second too long. “I think you damaged my eardrum,” he winces. “So, this bravery that you’ve been di

Esther TW: A Little Gory With every step I take back, Uncle Felix takes one towards me, and then he moves at the speed of light. The pain doesn’t register at first, and then when it does, I look down to see only his wrist. Indicating that his hand cut through my skin on my tummy, and it is in my bleeding womb, searching for my baby. I cry in pain and push him away. The open wound instantly closes, thanks to Charles’ blood and the hunting. “You are trying to cause me to have a miscarriage?” I snarl. “I’m helping you!” “Isn’t that supposed to be my decision to make?” “You are not capable of making any decisions in your life!” he growls. “This is what I’m here for.” “Jane was right,” I murmur. “Goodness, Dominic was also right.” “Isn’t it a bit too late to be smart? You are going to die, and I’ll be the hero of this story.” “Everyone hates the Carnegies right now. How are you going to be the hero?” “I’m going to kill you, duh!” he rolls his eyes. “Are you sure we are of the sa

Trigger Warning: Slightly uncomfortable interaction towards the end of the chapter. ************Esther‘I need you to be specific right now. Who’s everyone?’ I ask Jane. ‘Vampires and werewolves.’ Everyone around the table seems to be focused on the conversation as Margaret continues to speak. ‘Are you sure? I’m at a table with vampires, and they seem clueless.’ ‘So many vampires know, and they are out to get you.’ ‘How did they find out?’ I ask. ‘I don’t know, but it wasn’t me. I swear.’ ‘I only told you and Uncle Felix about this.’ ‘Let me guess, you think it was me?’‘What am I supposed to think?’ I ask.‘That it was this hypocrite we call our uncle.’ ‘Uncle is a black sheep, just like me.’ I take a sip of the red wine. ‘So, he is misunderstood and blamed for everything.’ ‘You are so delusional!’ ‘And you are cruel. You insisted that we should not tell anyone about the baby yet,’ I remind her. ‘I think you told others when you found out that I told uncle, because you
