"My life is yours, Esther, my heart belongs to you. You can do with it as you wish." ******* Two species are fighting for Dominance. Werewolves and vampires. Werewolves are under the protection of Dominic, the immortal lycan with an untraceble scent. Princess Esther is the only vampire who can trace the elusive Dominic's scent, because she is his mate. So, she has been given a task of finding him and killing him. Without Dominic, the werewolves would be vulnerable. Dominic needs to get rid of Esther to survive and continue to protect the werewolf species against vampires.

The stranger's blue eyes beg me to save her, but I watch in my perfected blank stare as Charles Du Pont sinks his fangs further, draining the life out of her. He throws her lifeless body on the floor as if it’s a rag-doll. He looks up at me, his amber eyes glowing with pleasure and without any trace of blood on his lips. “This is one of the best things about being a vampire. Power!” He grins. “It’s amazing, isn’t it?” I murmur in agreement, my stomach churning in disgust as I try not to give him the reaction he wants. “So, why do you hate drinking the blood of life?” He grins. “I’ve heard stories about you and your choice of... Food.” “And you believed them? How would I survive if I didn’t drink blood?” “Oh! My love. Why didn’t you stop me from drinking alone?” “You seemed hungry,” I shrug. “I knew you would make a perfect bride. I have a surprise for you. Come with me.” I silently follow him. We take normal human steps through the castle, and it takes everything in me to remain patient. He keeps stealing glances at me, his smirk not leaving his face. "Honey," I say with a fake smile. "The suspense is killing me. Can't we just run?" "Patience, my love. We will get there." He smirks. 'Charles, how long are we going to play this game?' I send a telepathic message. 'What game?' He raises a brow. 'The game of you pretending to be in love with me in front of your family and mine.' 'Oh! That? We can play until you back out or later ask for a separation. I was hoping that you would back out before the wedding.' He grins. 'Why don’t you back out? I have more to lose than you.' 'Don’t be selfish, I also have so much to lose. You will be the one who leaves this sham of a marriage first.' When we finally get to one of the guest rooms, he swings the door wide open. I gasp when I come face to face with about five humans. Three of them are younger than 17, and then two are about older than 70. “Here’s your buffet, my lady." He bows, then he moves and stands behind me, placing his hands on my shoulders, making my skin crawl. "Pick whoever you want. You are about to be my wife, and it will be my duty to provide for you.” He whispers. “Who do you think deserves your mercy?” All terrified eyes look at me expectantly. They don’t have to say anything for me to know that every person in the room hopes that I will pick them. I randomly point at a boy who looks like he could be 14 years old. Charles moves at his vamp speed and makes him kneel in front of me. His wide grin making my stomach churn. “You have chosen well.” “I suppose we have to hypnotize him before we let him go?” I ask him. “Let him go where?” He asks with a smirk. “Home? You said...” “You misunderstood me, my love. I meant to save from this miserable world. It’s our job to save them, you know.” My eyes widen, and his lips curl up. “Please, please, please...” The boy looks up at me, his palms put together as he begs. I swallow uncomfortably. “I’ve had my fill two days ago. I’m still okay.” “Just as I suspected. You don’t drink human blood. Do you?” “I...” “Drink!” He motions towards the boy, his voice low and dangerous. He pauses, clearly speaking to someone through telepathy. 'That was Joan, the real love of my life. When I come back, you are going to drink this boy's blood.' 'You moron!' I glare at him. 'You will drink when I come back!' He swooshes out of the room. Five minutes later, the room breaks into a chaos of bloodcurdling screams and tears of humans who are begging me to save them. I pace around the room, panicking. “Stop!” I raise my hand. “I need to think.” “I’m going to spare your lives for one more day. If I leave and never come back, he is going to kill all of you.” The room breaks into chaotic panic again. “Do you want to die?” I hiss, baring my teeth at them. They all fall silent, moving to the furthest corner of the room. “If I release you, the vampires will kill you before you reach the doors of the castle. If you escape with some luck, there are more vampires in this forest. So, I’m giving you one more day. I’m going to run away, and I will still find you here tomorrow, I hope I would’ve come up with a plan.” “Please don’t leave us,” the boy cries. I close my eyes, and I bolt out of the room. The heavy door lands in a thud as I close it. I write a note, afraid that if I send a telepathy, Charles might come back to ‘check up on me.’ *Don’t let anyone touch my food, out for a walk. Will be back soon.* I stick the note on the door of the guest bedroom, and I listen for footsteps around the castle. I move in one swift motion to the main doors, and the guards bow before opening the doors for me. “You are finally here," Margaret, Charles’ sister, appears out of nowhere. "I was starting to get bored. Are you ready to see the garden? The decorations for your wedding reception are beautiful.” She squeals in excitement.Esther“You have no right to control my life,” I say between my teeth, anger rising in me. “I think I have every right,” he says calmly. “All vampires are my responsibility, and it’s my job to protect them from the likes of creatures like Dominic, and you are the only one with the ability to help. You are going to help me.”“What did Dominic do?”“He is trying to control us!” he snaps. “I can’t believe that he is a half vampire. An information that you and your family hid from me.”“I didn’t know.”“But you knew that she was your mate,” he glances at me, his face blank. “I found out recently.”“So, what did you do when you found out? You decided to abandon your duties?” he scowls. I feel ice under my skin, and not the kind that makes me happy.I roll out of the moving car and close the door before King Bernard can make sense of what is happening. I run, quickening my pace when I hear a screeching of tires in the distance, and then, the sound of movement that I know too well, the so
Esther “Let me go,” I say between my teeth. “I’m afraid I can’t, princess,” Charles says, a little amused. “It’s either you go with him or me,” he turns around. I’m still in his arms, Felix is running towards us, and I’m grateful that we are in a city, so he can’t run at a vamp speed. A car stops next to us, and Charles motions for me to get in, a wide grin on his face. “I can’t leave Jane,” I shake my head. “Jane will be fine, I spoke to Logan.” ‘Jane?’ I try to reach her. ‘I’m okay. I’m hiding. Where are you?’ she asks. ‘I’m with Charles.’ ‘What? We can’t trust Charles...’ ‘I’m going to kill you! You, throne thief!’ Felix is only two blocks away, his eyes blazing with something I can’t explain. Something I’ve never seen before. I jump in the car, and Charles follows. As the car drives off, and I look back, watching Felix, who is standing on a sidewalk, his fists clenched. “If you are taking me away to kill me, I will kill you first.” I turn to face Charles, who s
Esther I stiffen, but Uncle Felix doesn’t let go of me, even when I’m not hugging him back. “I was really worried about you,” Uncle Felix says in a low voice, although everyone can hear him. I feel rage bubbling inside me, and the more I try to hold it in, the more I feel like I’m going to explode. “You!” I push him away. Slamming him against the wall. “You monster!” I scream. My father watches this with a frown on his face, but he doesn’t try to stop me. “What did I do?” Uncle Felix blinks innocently. “I understand that pregnancy hormones might be making you lose your temper, but...” “I hate you!” I punch him on the lip. “What are you doing, Esther?” My father roars. “When I wanted to disown her, you told me that I shouldn’t do that to my own daughter,” he says to Felix. “Look at what she is doing. After everything you’ve done for her, and I told you to stop treating her like an egg!” “Let me talk to her brother,” Felix says to my father. Then, he turns and faces me.
Esther“Why are we going to the hospital?” Josh asks me, his sudden change in attitude making me feel more suspicious. “To help out with surgery,” I reply. “But the blood...” he trails off. “You are a vampire.”“I can handle my cravings. It’s like working at a restaurant. You handle the food but you don’t eat them. Right?”“So, we are food to you?” Aiden chuckles. “Of course,” I roll my eyes playfully. “What do you think?”“I’m very scared,” Aiden grins. “I’m so ashamed of myself,” Josh says. “I’m really sorry, Princess Esther.”“There’s nothing to apologize for,” I smile politely. “Where’s Hilda?”“She’s at the hospital. She said she was going to check on you later.”I nod, giving him another polite smile. “So, how do you know about surgery?” Josh asks. “I was bored and ran out of things to study. I mean, if you’ve lived for as many years as I did...”“Makes sense,” he nods. “I don’t like this, Josh,” Aiden chimes in. “Princess Esther is my friend. You can’t just take her away
Esther “I’m so sorry,” I whisper to Dominic. “This must’ve been very hard for you. The werewolves and witches are like your children.” “They are,” he nods. “Which is why you can’t just leave them. You should let me go...” “No!” he interjects. “There’s no way in hell I’m ever going to let you...” “But you agreed.” “I didn’t want to argue. Yet.” “And now you do,” I roll my eyes. “I’ll try to make you see my reasons.” “Don’t, please,” I plead. “If you leave with me, you will not be happy, and you’ll always worry about the witches and werewolves. I told you that I don’t want you to blame me for changing your life.” “I lived without you. For 300 years,” he says in a hoarse voice. “Do you know how difficult that was? I had to stay away and watch you from a distance.” “Please don’t do this, Dominic. Not right now.” “But I want to protect you. I want to take care of you,” he protests. “But I can protect...” “I want to do it anyway! You can’t tell me that you don’t feel the way o
Esther The man in front of him fidgets. He looks like he wouldn’t mind if the ground swallowed him whole, in fact, he would appreciate it. Dominic’s eyes are on him, his face blank, but his jaw is tight. “Well, Alpha, you, you see...” he stammers. “The werewolves who are on your side think it would be best if the baby,” he clears his throat. Dominic’s eyes are still on him, the tension in the air palpable. “It would be best if the baby weren’t alive,” the man flushes when he says the words. “The baby will confuse things. We need to always draw the line, Alpha, you know that. We don't even know if he or she is going to be a vampire or a lycan.”“So, you want to kill my child?” Dominic asks, his voice dangerously calm. “That’s, that’s not what I meant,” he swallows, avoiding eye contact. “And I am a half vampire,” Dominic reminds him."But we have always known you as a lycan. You have always been on the werewolves side."“Like I said, anyone who wants to get anywhere near her,”
