21. Free From Chains

It was a while later before I heard footsteps coming down the hall and in the direction of my room. I knew who it was, there was only one person presently in the house who could sound like that when they walked, but I still hoped it wasn’t him and that he wasn’t coming to me.

I didn’t have such luck because a few seconds later and my door was being pushed open to reveal the Alpha’s big frame. He entered completely into the room and shut the door, but I couldn’t bring myself to look at his face.

I couldn’t explain why, but even being in his presence felt weird, it felt different and my mind was still trying to process and make sense of it.

“Going somewhere?” He asked, and when I finally risked a glance, he had his attention focused on the bag that I had left by the door.

I swallowed painfully but kept quiet, I didn’t know what to say anyway so there was no need to try.
