Fulfilling The Role

I'm about to open my mouth and tell Nukea that her idea absolutely sucks, but Liam speaks first.

"That's impossible, Nuke," he says with a laugh, "Not only does she hate you, but she's... indisposed at the moment."

"What do you mean by that?" I ask, my warning bells ringing immediately. I take a step closer to him, "What the hell did you do now, Liam?"

"She's in captivity," he mutters under his breath, evading my eyes and his scent thickening with guilt, which fills me with panic because I think about all the possibilities, "Before you both start freaking out, Isabella is not being tortured in my cabin. She's in my house, in a nice bedroom and she has my employees at her complete disposal. She's being treated like a queen... one who can't go anywhere yet. I'm afraid she’s going to run away again."

"I'm not hurting her in any way," he interrupts me, rolling his eyes, "Even if I wanted to hurt her, I couldn't. I wouldn't be able to. You understand that, don't you?"
