Kieran's POV

I lay in bed, my body still weak from the ordeal I had just gone through. But as I saw Nyx walk back into the room, my heart felt lighter. She was my mate, my everything. And seeing her by my side made me feel like I could take on the world. Once again, she had gone to calm the Trinity pack members waiting outside to speak with me.

"Nyx," I whispered, my voice still weak from exhaustion.

Nyx rushed to my side, her eyes filled with concern. "Kieran, are you feeling better?" she asked, her voice soothing like a melodious tune.

I beamed at her, trying to reassure her. "I'm feeling better, Nyx," I responded. "All thanks to you."

Nyx smiled back, her eyes shining with tears. "I'm just glad you're okay, Kieran," she said. "I was so scared when I thought I was going to lose you."

I gave her a toothy grin. That was the second time she had mentioned being scared of losing me today. I knew she wasn't lying. I could still see her glassy eyes even though it was now getting dry. She
