Nyx's POV
Starweaver Pack I eased myself into the bathtub. I had never used the bathtub in all my time in the starweaver pack. I only prepared it for the Luna or any of the female wolves. Any omega caught using it was always dealt with intensely. But in it I sat, on the orders of the Luna. I had soap foam cover me from head to toe. It had been a while since I had a good bath. The Luna could not stand anyone smelling horrible, so bathing wasn't off limits like having a proper three square meal was. Zoe walked in and smiled at me. She ran to hug me. I hugged her as far as my wet body could allow me, without staining her with soap. "Luna sent me here to prepare you for leaving." Zoe said, taking the sponge from my hand, scrubbing my body for me. She released soft whimpers that turned to tears as she washed my body. "Why are you crying?" I asked, thinking she was missing me already. "I wish you wouldn't be sold to the evil alpha." Zoe whispered. My heart skipped a few beats. "What do you mean, Zoe?" I asked, turning to look at her. "Alpha Caleb has been nothing but gold to me." "Are you that naive?" Zoe asked. "Have you never heard of the ruthless Caleb Syder?" "You're scaring me, Zoe." I muttered, breathing raggedly. My chest was beginning to heave. "The alpha that does the ritual killings? The alpha that's at the council of alphas without care? The alpha that does what he wants with whomever he wants? Can't you remember?" I shook my head vehemently. Nothing was coming to me. I could not remember anything about any of these. "Remember Amira?" Zoe asked. "Yeah, Amira." I responded. "She had her limbs disjointed from her body and her eyes gouged from its socket for ritual purposes." "Correct. Now, do you remember who performed the ritual?" Zoe asked. I closed my eyes to remember the incident. We only heard the news of what had happened to Amira. "Alpha Caleb Syder!" I exclaimed, seeing how done for I was. "He made an inscription of his initials on her head. Her head was returned with the C.S boldly written on it." "I'm sorry, Nyx." Zoe apologized again, before bursting into tears. She wiped my body as she cried. I was too dazed to cry. Too scared to cry. Too shocked to cry. I had just had my hopes thrown into the grounds like they didn't matter. I remained silent for the rest of the bath. I was unresponsive to all of Zoe's talks. I tried to console myself with the thought that it could only be as bad as it's been in the starweaver pack. The worst it would be is my death. Zoe dressed me in one of the female warrior's pretty dresses. It was her least finest, but it was the best thing I've worn in all of my life. I looked at myself in the mirror. My face was still a bit dirty. Not ten hours of bathing would release the stains on my face, caused from severe beatings and relentless work. I forced a smile before bursting into tears. Zoe walked in on me crying and consoled me. I was in her arms until Luna Cara walked in on us. We quickly separated from each other. I locked my hands together after cleaning my face and pinned my gaze to the floor. "Isn't this cute?" Luna Cara asked, laughing and clapping. "The shock on your face when you found out that he was taking you was priceless." So was the look when he shushed her up, but I couldn't speak. How would I explain that I wasn't shocked in a bad way until now. I allowed myself to think that I could have a better life when in actuality, only death awaited me. "Very soon, you will wish that I remained your Luna." Luna Cara said, walking close to me. She played with my hair and twirled it around. "The imagination of the things alpha Caleb would do to you has me pitying you." If Luna Cara pities me already, I might as well just die. "You will think of me and smile." She said, smirking. "But I'll be here, happy that you're gone." I kept my gaze on the floor as the tears that stung my eyes fell to the floor. "I wish you the most gruesome death there is." Luna Cara giggled, before dragging me out. Zoe followed behind. I zoned out and just walked behind her. I tried hard not to think about whatever comes next. It never went well. Alpha Harrison waved a contract before everyone and me. He then handed it over to alpha Caleb. I looked at alpha Caleb and I saw the monster he actually is. The scars on his body were now understandable. I could now remember all the times I had heard his name. None were for any good thing. Alpha Harrison handed me over to alpha Caleb and they shook hands. "I really hope the fortune you've spent on this measly girl is worth it." Luna Cara spat. "That should be my business, Luna." Alpha Caleb responded. He turned to look at Alpha Harrison. "Don't forget the things we spoke about. Keep them to heart!" "Yes, Alpha." Alpha Harrison responded. We were about to leave when several cars came at the gate. There were about seven to ten, but I wasn't really counting. I was trying to zone myself out of my misery when they came in. The gates were opened and they drove in. "I see you have other business. We'll talk later." Alpha Caleb said, approaching his limousine. I felt the need to drag things back. I just wanted to. I did not want to get into the limousine or anywhere close to Alpha Caleb. I stopped walking. Alpha Caleb's beta turned back to look at me. He gazed at me with disgust and hatred. "Keep walking or I'll make you walk." He said, but I did not respond. I stayed rooted to the spot, despite knowing that it'd only cause me more trouble. He walked closer to me and repeated his commands. I stayed rooted to the spot. He was infuriated. He was about slapping me when a voice stopped him. "You should not hit a lady." A masculine voice said. We both turned to look at him. Every pair of eyes were set on him. "I am beta Nicholas of the Windwalker pack! Alpha Kieran would like to have a word." Alpha Caleb was back already by this time. I wasted just enough time to get him angry and in need of an explanation. Alpha Kieran got down from his car and walked towards us. I've never had the privilege to see three alphas in one day. I only looked up to see this alpha's face when my heart skipped several beats. I could feel my being drawing to his essence. I could feel my inner thighs twitch just by gazing at him. My breathing escalated all of a sudden. He's the most beautiful man I've ever seen. His brown skin and his disheveled black hair were so complimentary. I was drooling already. I looked at his eyeballs and they were red, not the alpha wolf type of red, a more beautiful shade of red. An absolutely tall beauty. He stopped walking when his eyes met mine. As much as I wanted to take my eyes off him, I couldn't. "Mate!" He let out, his eyes not leaving mine.Kieran's POV I was taken aback by the dead pack that was standing again. The look on their faces was just normal. There was nothing that could describe whatever they were feeling. It was just like a dead chicken, standing up to walk about, still dead.“How the fuck are they alive?” Nicholas muttered in shock.“Whatever is causing this death is way more powerful than we're giving it credit for,” I said, grabbing a piece of metal on the floor.“How do we even kill a bunch of strong dead people?” Gary asked.“Fuck, how do we kill dead people?” Jephta asked, looking panicked as they began walking towards us.I was glad that we were all on the same page about what needed to be done to them.“Well, make sure you take out their hearts,” I said. “The life-form of any creature ends when blood can no longer flow, and the key to making that happen is taking out their hearts.” “Well then, let's plug out some hearts, right?” Nyx sighed, and we met the already running mob of the dead pack on thei
Nyx's POV Early that morning, we drove out again, straight for the Bultir pack, the closest pack to us where the unfortunate incident had occurred. Kieran was very touchy throughout the ride, and I kept giggling. It was easier since we were the only ones in the car. The driver was very good at minding his business. Kieran and I never really had any alone time after the call the previous night. He was on a call with other Alphas for a great deal of time, and everytime I check up on him, he's always genuinely trying to escape, but the Alphas just wouldn't let him be. I understand where they're coming from though. Speaking with Kieran is a blessed thing to do. Kieran set his eyes on me, and he gently kissed me. I giggled again, holding his face as his lips melted into mine. His hand ran through my body, making me gasp gently. I kissed him back, holding the nape of his neck. “I was thinking about you all through last night.” Kieran whispered into my ears, and I became an ocean down th
Nyx's POV We headed straight back to the Windwalker pack house, our hearts lighter than they had been in a long time. We won. The battle had been brutal, and at times, it felt like we wouldn’t make it, but in the end, we stood victorious. The weight that had been pressing down on us since this all began finally felt a little lighter. Kieran, though badly hurt from his fight against Bridge, chose to let his wounds heal at a slower rate. It was surprising at first, considering how quickly we usually recovered, but I understood why he did it. He wanted to feel every ache, every bruise, it was his way of reminding himself of the fight, of everything we had just survived. And apparently, we could all do the same. I first thought it was a problem until he showed me how. Despite the injuries, the mood among us was different. Lighter. There was joy in the air, a relief that we had finally overcome one of the biggest challenges thrown our way. The battle had taken so much from us, but it h
Kieran's POV The fight was definitely going to be tough, but I was going to approach it with tougher measures. All of a sudden, Bridge kicked the table up, and then sent it at me. I hit it with my fist, and it broke immediately. The battle began, and the room became a battlefield. Bridge’s pack came at us, moving swiftly and brutally. They were unusually fast, unlike the previous night where we easily kicked and beat their asses. I barely had time to react before a large wolf swung a heavy fist toward my head. I ducked, spinning on my heel, and drove my elbow into his ribs. He grunted, stumbling back, but I had no time to finish him off, another enemy was already coming. To my left, Nicholas was locked in a deadly clash with two warriors, flashing his blades at them. Nyx was fending off two close to her, moving in a very fast manner. Blue had taken on a massive opponent, dodging and weaving like a shadow. Gary fought with sheer brute strength, smashing through enemies with terrif
Kieran's POV I was furious. The sheer amount of dark magic that Bridge had used to summon those wolves was beyond anything I had ever seen. It wasn’t just reckless, it was evil. He had caused destruction without cares for who got caught in the chaos. And for what? Power? Control? I clenched my fists as we walked. The thought of how close we had come to losing everything made my blood boil. I had barely escaped the fight without serious wounds. The burns on my hands had healed, but the memory of the pain still lingered. And Nyx… If anything had happened to her, I didn’t know what I would have done. The wind had saved us. It had come out of nowhere, powerful and fierce, tearing those monsters apart. At first, I thought it was a natural storm, but deep down, I knew better. It had felt like something greater, something beyond mere chance. It felt like the Goddess. She wouldn’t let us die, at least not when there was still so much left to do. The fight ahead was too big. The missi
Nyx's POV The three extra wolves growled louder, looking more ferocious than the one we so desperately suffered before killing. “Guys, just focus on the heart,” Kieran said, finding his way to stand up. “Fucking hell,” I muttered. “What should we do, Alpha?” Nicholas asked. Before we could come up with a plan, the wolves were already after us incessantly. One of the wolves targeted Blue and Nicholas, another one charged straight at me, and the last one went after Kieran. I barely had time to react before the beast swung a massive claw at me. I dodged to the side, feeling the heat scorch my skin as the flames brushed past. I pushed my speed to the limit, darting left and right, making it hard for the wolf to land a hit. Kieran had already engaged his opponent, straining his muscles as he wrestled with the massive beast. He dodged a fiery bite just in time and landed a powerful punch to its jaw, sending it staggering back. But unlike the first wolf, this one recovered instantly
